Kingsman: The Secret Service

The first one was released early on in the year, where there wasn't a lot of competition. That's quite different from trying to release it in the middle of the summer blockbuster season. Heck even WB and Marvel have started releasing their CBM's at different times of the year (and spreading them out) for precisely that reason.

June is a terrible month to release Kingsman. The film played on being the main and only real action film early in the year. It will be competing with too many blockbusters and get lost in the shuffle. August 2017 is currently an empty spot with the only notable film of that month Pacific Rim, and it is tentatively there (very much doubt the film is going to be made atp).

I agree with all of this, but Kingsman will also have a lower budget than these movies and need less to make a profit, I do think there are better places for it to be released but the movie has plenty of fans now.

But the fans might have their money tied up in other things. Summer and the holidays are when people spend the most money. And that's not just movies. Kingsman made a lot of money not only because it was seen as good to other people, but it was the only action movie for almost a month, I think until Chappie came out.

ANd Id bet money that the budget would be higher for the sequel. The first one had a reported budget of 80 mill.

Without the space to have some legs, I'd be surprised if Kingsman makes as much as the previous one.

I can't see the budget increasing that much though, maybe 100 million or just over for the sequel, Vaughn will still want plenty of freedom and an r rating so the budget won't inflate massively. But yeah, I do know what you mean about the release date, but there are plenty of smaller movies that get released during the summer and do well enough.

Plus if they get a big star to be the American agent or bad guy, that would give them a boost. I don't see Cars 3 being a big threat as its a completely different audience, I think both will make money.

Not so sure about this one. She's a great actress in indie or Oscar bait movies but she phones it in a lot when it comes to big budget blockbusters. She looked very bored in the Hunger Games movies. She even looked bored in Carrie when her character was supposed to be a nutcase.

"I didn't know if I wanted to direct this or not," Vaughn said in an interview transcribed by CBM, who also scanned the concept art. "I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. Then one morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place, and a new villain plot."

The film will dabble in spy tropes like a ski sequence and a barroom brawl, but insert quirky and Kingsman-esque ideas like robot dogs, one-armed henchmen, and apparently a battle with..."a giant f---ing frankfurter?"
