Knight Rider 2008: The Thread

Back during the original Knight Rider show, it was just simpler for them to show that K.I.T.T could do all of these great things without sustaining any great damage no matter how many trans ams they destroyed. With any new & unperfected technology like the new K.I.T.T. it is bound to have a few defects & vulnerabilities so it is only natural that they would have to use their fancy gadgets & gizmos to fix K.I.T.T. now & then. Does it detract from your viewing pleasure or take away from the show because the new K.I.T.T. sustains a few minor damages here & there or would you have prefered it just be an all powerful vehicle that almost never needed to be fixed?

You can apply the Superman analogy to it:-

who's more interesting to viewers/readers?

The hero who's invulnerable and is a cert to make it out of that dangerous situation he's found himself in;

Or the one who isn't and could very well be destroyed?

indestructible kitt please, especially if the voice is a calm one.

If kitt had an aggravated personality, then a damaged one would be better.

NBC reran the first two eps on Saturday which I didn't get to see the first time and for good reason, the first episode was so boring, the first 1/2 hour both Michael and the girl are trying to extinguish themselves from the heat and in the next 1/2 Michael is searching for some top secret info, I didn't see the next episode.

Not a bad episode last night

I guess we've gotten too used to shows with big ensembles (even if there's a clear series lead) for it to just be Michael and KITT on the road all the time.

Looking at the preview for next week, it looks like we've got our first "Naked Now": a full-fledged rip-off of a Classic KR episode. Michael gets poisoned during an undercover operation and has only hours to live as he struggles to locate the bad guy with the antidote. In 1984, they called it "Dead of Knight" (and reused an awful lot of footage from the pilot episode, to the point where the baddies were dressed like those baddies so they would match footage of them fleeing an exploding plane). Next week, it's called "A Hard Day's Knight."

Smith Cho is hot but Zoey is annoying

"burn rubber KITT!"
"Burning Rubber"

ARGH!

KITT can submerse? I feel like TPTB are just throwing all the bells and whistles too fast and its just the third episode!

Back in the 80's KITT wasn't a icon as he is now.

Now the kids that use to watch the show are behind the scenes and just adding all the "kewl" stuff in like attack mode and truck mode and now underwater mode.

Also the scanner wasn't so loud that we have to be aware of it's presence. One whoosh whoosh is enough. Right now its in our faces
I guess with knight industries flourishing now the "one man can make a difference" ideal doesn't make much sense.

Even Devon thought that the idea of one man and his car was absurd in the 82 pilot.

Now we have dozens of nameless techs running around acting like they're busy.

I guess it would have been better if knight industries was in shambles, then we could have a skeleton crew with limited supplies to fix KITT

I just can't stand how painfully apparent it is that they're just filming that riced out Mustang driving at 20-30MPH and then just speeding the film up. Sad.

eh they did that for the KI2T and super pursuit mode.

NBC is showing some faith in "Knight Rider," ordering four more scripts of the fresh drama from Universal Media Studios.

Update of the 1980s talking car skein has performed so-so in the ratings but has had traction with young men in its Wednesday 8 p.m. slot in three airings to date.

Series stars Justin Bruening and is exec produced by Gary Scott Thompson, Doug Liman and Dave Bartis.

Good news....wonder if this will be followed by a full season pick up?

They need to move this mediocre pigeon doodoo of a show to Saturday evenings so it can be amongst it's own kind.:)

i thought last week was the worst piece of television...until this week. Lucky that asian chick is hot, cause she has to be one of the worst actors i've ever seen, although i think it has largely to do with the writing and what the writers consider the hip thing to say.

Everyone knows that 80's KR was cheesy but the show blows...bad acting, KITT that not even up to par with the 80's KITT and way to many plot holes. I feel this is another Bionic Woman:o

Last night's episode was decent. But the whole take the case to point B is a pretty hard premise to mess up so that ain't saying much. A secret govt agency should be a lot more careful about letting criminals see where the headquarters are.

For all the Evil that michael Bay has done to the world. I never thought it would get this bad with a show like this.

Good Luck to all of you who accept this show.

I never had it on season pass to start with....who does that with a brand new show?? its just on when I get home from work....

Keeps getting worse and worse... Now KITT can transform into a van and a police cruiser.

Also, what's the use of a super-efficient gas-powered engine when you don't have spark plugs?

Well tonight it looks like they are bringing back KARR as a main villain. this incarnation of KARR it looks like a wheeled transformer exoskeleton robot.

I've kinda given up on this, I have a hard time with the whole transforming into a truck, van and whatever else...and even changing appearance to turbo boost? Gimmie a break.

I slogged through the pilot a little after it premiered, but wasn't that interested in a weekly helping. Consequently, I haven't been paying attention. However, I did catch 2 or 3 minutes from last night, while flipping channels and have a question.

I don't know if I was unusually tired or unknowingly ingested a mild hallucinogen at some point earlier in the day, but did I see Thing from the ****ing Addams Family on the show last night?

I caught a chunk of it...the hot Asian chick was dressed like a cheerleader and there was mention of KARR between Dr. Graiman and the FBI guy....apparently the HQ was infiltrated because someone was looking for info on KARR....which killed 7 people....
