Eh, I'd argue the Marvel films are great examples of good films with mostly mediocre scores.
I'm not sure I'm the best one to comment on that since I'm not a fan of Marvel Studios anymore. They've certainly had their fair share of good scores (IM 1 & 2, Hulk, Thor 1, Cap 2, DS). Overall, though, I find almost all Marvel films to be mediocre along with their scores, with GotG and its score being the worst of the bunch. But then Bates is a terrible composer.
Bates scored 300 if I'm not mistaken.
I was actually speaking of Rise of an Empire, the sequel. Maybe I should've clarified that.
Bates did 300 and the whole controversy surrounding that. I still just don't get how junkie keeps getting all this work. Good composer sure, but not great. Not at all. Flavor of the month.
Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with Junkie's recent popularity. He's adequate, but when there are so many other proven and talented composers why settle for him?
