Is anyone else a fan of this movie, which in my opinion is extremely underrated and underappreciated? I actually saw this back in the theaters when it came out and remember having a blast, and I caught it several times over the years on cable. I've always enjoyed it and it's one of those movies that always puts me in a good mood and always have such fun with. I rewatched it on Crackle for the first time in several years and it still holds up as a riot and an all-around fun time. There's lots of great action scenes, the humor that pokes fun at Action movies cliches and staples is sharp and intelligent, and Arnold gives one of his best performances and is top form all the way through, playing both Jack Slater as well as himself. I feel the best part about the movie is the Ripper, a villain who's extremely creepy and makes the most of his limited screentime. It really is a shame this movie bombed so badly at the box office back then, although it would've surely done far better released at least a month or so after Jurassic Park, which it had no chance against at all after being released a mere week after.

I remember this, and I actually really liked it when I was a kid. It still holds up today, IMO. Btw, did anybody see the Nolstalgia Critics review of this movie, lol?

I saw it. It's a funny review, even if I don't agree with his opinion of the movie.

I always thought the Ripper would have always made a great horror film slasher.

People need to know when to just relax and enjoy a movie just for pure entertainment. This is one of those movies. Pure entertainment.

He sure would've. I remember the toyline this movie had, he had an action figure in it I had as a kid but sadly lost. It'd be great for a movie-accurate figure of him to be made, someday.

JCVD makes this movie worth watching.

I remember this movie had quite a bit of tie-in merchandise back then. I had some of the toys as well as the movie storybook and the NES game, which is so frustratingly hard and a game I've never gotten around to beating.

you kno what, its nice to see that there are other people that like this film. i have always loved this movie, it was amongst my favorites growing up as a kid (aside from ninja turtles 2) and when i heard this was coming out, in widescreen, on blu-ray, i went to 3 stores trying to find it, i ended up watching it and i still love it. the one-liners are great, arnold was in his prime during the time of this t2 and predator and theres just nothing about it that deserves all that hate it ever got. its a perfect action 90s film, it doesnt try to do anything else but be entertaining and it certainly delivers.

Love this film. One of my favs as a kid. Love the plot/concept for the film. Been meaning to pick it up for ages on dvd. But keep forgetting to get.

I always got a kick out of the fact that there was an animated cat walking around in the movie universe voiced by Danny DeVito. What was his name? Det. Whiskers?

I also always loved the Stallone Terminator poster.

And yet one of the best action films made as well. :awesome:

I've always enjoyed this film. I always felt a lot of people took it too seriously and missed the joke.

No bull ****, I just got done watching this.

That was me when I was younger and it first came out. Me and a buddy of mine were disappointed with it because we thought it was going to be a bit more serious, we didn't realize it was a satire.

Just watched it again tonight(second time), and enjoyed it a lot more.

This one of the best parodies of the action film genre....

Along with Loaded Weapon 1. Funny thing is that Frank McRae played the Lieutenant and the Captain in both of these films.

Yes! Definitely one of my faves from the 90's. So many great parts of this movie like, The action, the humour, classic bad guys, Stallone in T2, Robert Patrick (did you see that guy), JCVD, Sir Ian McKellen as Death. Just an overall entertaining masterpiece.

It's a shame this movie will likely never get a Special Edition treatment on any format, it deserves it. I still think I might get it on Blu-ray eventually though, just to own it and have it in HD.

I still have a few of the toys from it. I sadly lost my Ripper, but I have about two or three of the Jack Slaters, and the Danny figure.

I always loved this movie, even as a kid. Who did JCVD and Ian Mcellan play? It's been a few years and I honestly do not remember either of them in this at all

Oh and wtf ever happened to Austin O'brien?? I always liked him as an actor when I was younger, I mean hell he was in Lawnmower Man!

JCVD has a brief cameo a himself during the premiere of Jack Slater IV, while MacKellan plays Death, who has a small role near the end when the magic ticket brings Death out of the movie, The Seventh Seal.

I always wonder why Austin's career wasn't better after this movie either, I thought he was pretty good in this. I guess the movie not being a success as a whole unfortunately had a hand in that.

LOVED the "Hamlet" 'trailer'

the first 'chase scene' in the film is great, I had the chance a couple of years ago to buy a similar 1969 Pontiac Bonneville drop top (like Jack Slater's car) but foolishly passed on it :(

I have the rare out of print DVD that has WIDESCREEN on one side and FULL FRAME on the other, the only one you can get new is the FULL FRAME only like most 90s era Columbia films, if this ever hits Blu Ray I am SO getting it :awesome:!

its funny cuz danny devito coesnt even get credit as the voice of the cat. but the main reason why i got in on blu-ray (my first bd) was because it was widescreen. the dvds were always fullscreen
