The Dark Knight Ledger: Joker darker more sinister

So why didn't it make as much as spiderman???
Because Spider-Man pleased people of all ages, and was a good film. B&R was a mediocre film that was liked by kids, but despised by practically everybody else.

Another question why did Superman Returns didn't make as much as spider - man???

Who is Spideman? I only know Spider-man...:o

I believe there are far more classier and sophisticated ways of portraying a psychotic Joker. All this Rachel blood/rape-mongering has to stop. It's really getting out of hand now.

I did present an alternative. -.-

Spider-Man was able to keep the fantasy element. That makes for big bucks that this Batman franchise will never get.

You like it or not... economically B&R still made a big profit for WB. Then we can discuss on which level of absolute crappyness stands the film, but the profit was made.
Yes it made a profit. What killed the franchise at that point was the immense negative response to the movie and how it made far less than the previous movie. WB knew if they made another sequel in the same tone, then they would have had a MAJOR failure.

Because it didn't appeal to people as much as Spider-Man.

Absolutely. And in a certain way BB suffered from this stigma...

I wasn't too thrilled with the choice of Ledger at first but I must admit, I'm liking what I'm hearing so far.

Which is why TDK will be such a great success.

A Clockwork Orange+ The Killing Joke+ early Pre-Crisis Joker= me :batty::D:batty:

oh boy Ledger better deliver the goods. just look at the source material he has to live up to.

Anyone who is questioning the kid appeal of Batman just needs to walk to the closest Target and look at all the Batman underwear for nine year-olds.

Box office doesn't mean anything to me anymore. Pirates of the Carribean 2 is surpassing the $1 billion point right now. I saw it a month and a half ago, and I can barely remember it. As long as the movie knocks me on my ass, I could give two ****s how much money it makes.

It sounds to my like the film is on track. The cast has a strong base coming back and the production has already a major player casted that is adding some depth. Ledge is going to surprise, he is not going to be like Jack's Joker but we are going to get a faithful but also interesting adaptation out of TDK. Doing stuff a little different is not always a bad thing and it seems like Ledge and Nolan have a great idea about how to get the character to keep his roots but add a little something as well.

I am looking forward to see Ledge made up as the Joker.

We can only hope that a teaser, showcasing a little peek at the Joker on film will be given around Comic Con next year.

I am excited, 2008 is too far away and it kills!

Amen, and amen.

Batman Begins' 2004 Comic Con panel was horrible. Hopefully the Spider-Man 3 panel that took place at this year's Con kicked WB in the ass.

Take notes, Warner Brothers.

Man, whenever news breaks about the Joker, it just makes be more assured how awsome he's going to be in TDK.

Oh I'm not saying don't have action. Despite the editing, Batman Begins had very good fight scenes. It just doesn't need to be:

OMG I HAVE TO STOP THE TRAIN CARRYING THE MICROWAVE EMITTER BY COMPLETELY DESTROYING IT, TAKING OUT A SECTION OF THE CITY ALONG WITH IT!!

"Joker's Five-Way Revenge" was also mentioned as source material.

I think all this can probably put to rest my concerns regarding this subject.
All these references are pointing for something different of what was already done, as Nolan said that he wants to do.

2008 is most definitely too far away. I'm not gonna look forward to the teaser or any comic-con footage next year to pre-determine how great or not the dark knight will be. personally, when the first pics of batman and the teaser were released I feared the film was going to be mediocre. at first glance the costume really didn't do it for me. I understood that it would be bruce wayne's first take on the outfit but I didn't understand why the color black was the only color to the costume (except for the utility belt). hearing that ra's al guhl would be the main villain didn't excite me, neither. while a formidable adversary he's never really possessed much visual flare.

THEN the movie came out. the costume was perfect, the story made it be. ra's al guhl was the perfect introduction to the new franchise, the story made him be. that's what ****ed up the last two films before 'begins.' crazy, elaborate, colorful costumes and no good story or characters to make it worth watching.

I can't wait for the dark knight. Ledger sounds like this take on the joker is one that will be greatly reverred by fans from all corners. the story... I just don't have any doubts about it. whether or not they change up batman's costume doesn't concern me. but, if I had a choice I'd say keep it the way it is. "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
