Action-Adventure Legendary/Capcom developing Street Fighter film

Well, he does have the US flag tattoo. Though, not on the right part of his body...

Was hyped before casting, but getting Legend of Chun-Li vibes 😬

Orville Peck? The masked gay country singer?
Orville Peck is a South African country music artist
WTF?
They couldn't find anyone Hispanic for the role? :
Miguel Ángel Silvestre?
Santiago Cabrera?
Not that there is a lot of depth necessary for Vega (or any of these caricatures):oldrazz:, Though they could make him interesting if they wanted (they don't). Likely a D level, one-line presence. Clearly they are not looking for any actors here, but just the most superficial take and presence. No real surprise.

I do think they should’ve cast a Spanish actor, but I’ll continue to die on the hill that Peck is one of the strongest talents in this cast. He is literally on Broadway right now and is getting universal acclaim. He’s also a classically trained ballet dancer. He’s a lot more than a gay country singer.

But also like, that by itself puts him in the 99th percentile.

Well, hopefully this one doesn't wait until the end of the film to make Dhalsim look like Dhalsim.

Take it with a grain of salt for now.

Deadline confirmed he is to play Honda:

As previously announced, the Street Fighter cast will also include Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Roman Reigns as Akuma, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.

Miguel needs to get more roles. He’s so talented and handsome. I’m obviously biased as a Sense 8 stan, but that guy is great.

on related SF news though, my mans Sagat is back in sf6 and looking better than ever.

muy thai moves looking more accurate and brutal af now:

What’s the under/over on this being worse than the last (or next) Mortal Kombat movie?

If this one sucks (and when MK2 sucks), I hope they give up on adapting fighting games into movies. The knock on adapting video games forever was that the stories aren’t fleshed out enough. But games like Zelda, Castlevania, and obviously Fallout and Last of Us have enough material than you can really build off of it. But fighting games are just people kicking the **** out of each other. Yeah I know MK and (kinda) SF have some lore attached to them but most people who play these games don’t even know about that. And you could argue that the filmmakers don’t either. So just… adapt games with actual stories. That way you don’t need to make up stupid bull**** like Jax magically growing robotic arms or Kristen Kruek doing… whatever she did in that movie.

assassin's fist proved you can do street fighter live action right -- if you had someone behind it who actually loved and cared about the lore and source material (as flimsy as the storylines seem).

imo, the stuff with gouki / gouken + ryu /ken and the satsui no hado is fertile ground to mine stories from.
there's almost some parallels with the star wars idea of the light side vs dark side of the force.

but street fighter probably works best in anime or manga form.

I think you just need to do these stories episodically. You can more easily accommodate the different character POVs and sprawling nature of the narratives.

Hope they add some elements from Street Fighter II-V, which imo the best SF medium of all.

The two openings are such classics!

And I don't mind the cast as long as they keep the trio of Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li center and forefront.

Doesn't matter what you do,those 3 are the most iconic (and faces of Street Fighter) and here's hoping they're not too deviant of that. (Looking at Mortal Kombat, lol)

Wait how did I totally miss that Dastmalchian is playing Bison until now? Okay, that’s some casting that gives me hope. He’s a great actor and a really smart and interesting guy in real life too. Star making performances in Late Night with the Devil and The Suicide Squad. Between him and Koji, that should more than make up for all the suck coming from some of the losers in the cast (50 cent, Reigns).
