If this does really well, it's going to be interesting if the conversation turns to whether Batman should have more humor.

I'm hoping people are smart enough to realize that if this chock full of humor then it probably works well because it's a movie playing on the fact that Batman isn't usually funny or silly and is designed to be a parody of the grimdark Batman, but we'll see.

Yeah...I feel like, hopefully, people will realize by now that Batman's versatility as a character is one of his most unique features.

I always thought "I'm whatever Gotham needs me to be" was a bit of a meta-line in TDK. Right now, given the state of the world...it does kind of feel like there's a desire for a more fun, self-aware sort of Batman and that's what we kind of need him to be right now.

You combine this movie with the fact that Justice League clearly is going for a lighter tone, and it feels like that's the general direction we're moving in with the character for the time being. But I suspect that the desire for a serious version of Batman will eventually cycle back around. It's part of the beauty of the character to me.

I've always felt that Batman works best when he's given some sense of humor. A happy balance can be struck. One need only look at Morrison's run with the character. You really got the vibe from Morrison's Batman that he didn't take himself deadly serious all the time.

If the poster is any indication pretty much every main Batman ally/villain is in this movie, it really seems like a big celebration of the character as opposed to the start of a series of movies. Has McKay talked about doing sequels?

The only way moving forward is to do either a The Lego Superman Movie or The Lego Justice League Movie.

That's fair. I'll have to see the movie to know how I feel for sure, but I could see them moving to Superman or JL like Kane said rather than doing more sequels.
