I loved it . I was really emotionally moved by it which totally surprises . I would say it was Marvel's first or closet thing to a drama in alot of ways. It reminded me a lot of Bladerunner and Skyfall. It's by far one of my favorite of the X Men saga. Hugh Jackman as always does an amazing job. I don't know about you guys but I would have totally stayed in Japan with Mariko at the end:hrt:. Yukio was also really great . The only weakness was Viper who wasn't that great when compared to the rest of the cast but its a minor thing for me.

9/10

The part when he was stood outside in the rain, lit by neon with a dream like Famke in front of him screamed Bladerunner to me, which begs the question:

Do Wolverines dream of electric Famke Janssens?

I forgot to mention how funny I thought the bathing scene was.

I wonder how different this story would feel had Logan been 5'3.

I'm glad he's not 5'3". The shortest I'd want a live action Wolverine is 5'8".

"I'll get that bit myself!!' :lmao:

I loved how he looked close to murdering someone afterwards...

I agree with Frodo and BlackFox with that the shots of Logan standing outside in the rain looked a lot like Blade Runner.

But... I watched the original first Domestic Trailer again and I saw that rain shot, but I saw these other rain shots in the trailer that I don't think where in the film. One was at 1:31 with the yakuza pointing a gun at someone in the rain and the other was at 1:30 with the man against a wall.

I wish the film had these shots because they look very noirish and Blade Runner-esque, hopefully these will be in the extended blu-ray!

Good point, I'd forgotten about those!!!

I'm actually REALLY excited now for the extended blu-ray and I'm sure it will slightly improve on an already really good theatrical film because listening to interviews and watching the trailers again there seems to be quite a bit of footage cut out such as those extra rain shots in the domestic trailer, the ninja fight and some extra blood moments that they had to limit themselves for the PG-13 in theatres.

I don't think though the extended blu-ray will be a HUGE improvement like the Daredevil extended DVD, most of Ridley Scott's films like the Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut or even the LOTR films, but I think it will just make The Wolverine feel more complete.

What you you think?

100% yes, a longer ninja fight alone is needed to pay more respect to the comic AND will help with the third acts pacing, hopefully.

As to how much difference it will make we will have to wait and see, because other than the ninja fight not much needs changing for me.

Yeah :woot: you know more I think back on the film, the more I like.

It was implied that Logan and Mariko had sex that night or at least became physical in some way. However, I think if they made it clear they had done nothing at all, not even kiss. It would have enhanced a couple of scenes that come later in the movie.

I must have missed that part! When was it implied?

Maybe implied was the wrong word. Up to interpretation, cause when they cut to them being in bed it hinted at them being physical in some way. However I still would have preferred if they made it clear there was an attraction but Mariko chose not to act on it.

It was good, PR and MOS remain my favorite of the summer, but I am happy to see this series back on track and cant wait for DOFP

Then X-Men: First Class comes out. It's in the past, taking place before any of the other X-Men films. Has none of the known characters from the original trilogy except Xavier, Magneto, Beast, and Mystique.

*facepalm*

I had assumed they had, since they were in bed together after that.

In what way do you mean?

For me personally I find there is something about his height in most of the books that lends itself to his big personality, if anything it adds to it. Especially when it comes to his sex appeal.

I suppose I'm just very used to it at this point.

I find it funny that fox pumped out all that imagery of Jackman with the Katana in alot of their ads. Would have liked to see that too, a little less of the hacking from X1 and slashing from x2.

Though it does seem that stuff was more geared to the eastern markets, given the fonts.

After hearing about DOFP I was fully convinced they were going to take this(one in a lifetime) opportunity to cut off the mans hand. Would have been interesting to say the least.

The reason I bring it up is because of a couple of things...

1) Mariko would choose not to act on their attraction because she is still engaged to the *****ebag so she wants to officially dump his ass before doing anything else. When Logan goes to visit Noburu you can see how pissed off he is but it would have been extra hilarious to know a good deal of that anger would come from knowing he didn't get any last night because of him.

2) The scene with Logan trying to reach Mariko with all the arrows stuck in his back. If they hadn't done anything before this would be the scene where he shows how he feels about her. Mariko watches from the tower as Logan is doing everything he can to get to her. The scene is great regardless but this would've added so much more to it for me.

sorry... but this feels like stereotypical man humor... which is kinda degrading. Wolverine didn't act like a "horny beast" ever in this film or past films. In this film he acted as if he was pretty sensitive in terms of dealing with Mariko... I don't think he'd be "pissed for not getting any" i don't think he expected "any"

8/10

best wolvie has ever been on film, Mariko and Yukio were fantastic as well.

loved the bits with Jean grey, and it was ambiguous enough to have it all be in his head, or actually be jean in the white hot room (loved that she always wore white)

majority of the changes worked very well...

loved the silver samurai changes (because it worked very well for the film) and the fact he wasn't a robot!, the fact mariko isn't killed, and i quite enjoyed VINO (viper in name only) I thought her changes fit. I also loved even the X3 and XO soundbites... it was nice hearing him scream "kayla" even though shouldn't remember her which does confuse me a bit... is wolverine's memory returning? because not only was there the kayla moment... but... he also remembered World War 2

as for the dislikes, the pacing was a little slow in some areas, and I got really lost by the film's end as to exactly what Viper's motivation and goal was... they made it clear she was only out for herself... but what would that mean?

I also thought about that while in the theater that he had an awful good memory of Yashida and WWII when he shouldn't lol. Oh well, I didn't let it ruin my enjoyment.

What I was curious of though, Yashida had the image of Logan and Storm at Alkali Lake from X-Men: The Last Stand. Was Yashida stalking Logan that whole time?? How could he have known Logan would be at Alkali Lake?

Yeah, I don't like that idea either. He didn't run off with Mariko because he was in love with her, they took off because he was protecting her. Then she wound up having to save him, and they wound up needing each other. I liked the way everything built up to that scene with the two of them.
