Overall, I thought it was decent. The only major negatives were that I thought Viper was lame and the Silver Samurai looked too much like The Destroyer from "Thor". But besides that, it was a solid Wolverine film. Way better than Origins, but it doesn't take too much to accomplish that. It would have been better if it was rated R. I'd say the movie itself is maybe a 7 out of 10, but the credits scene elevates it to 7.5. Because that was almost as good as the Iron Man post-credits scene. That was very well done.

Overall I would go about 7.5 out 10. So much of it was very good. The first hour was about as good as a comic book movie can get thats not a Nolan film. As others have said the last 30 minutes just did not work, that well, imo. Silver Samurai was too big and Viper was just too over the top and did not feel like she belonged in the movie at all.

Jackman was awesome as always.

7/10 - The film wasn't bad but it drag on in the middle before the climactic battle. I have to admit that Huge Jackman has proven that he has a great presence as Wolverine and has been perfectly casted from since X-men. He carried this film and that is an impressive feat to do.

The action was impressive, Best sequence was the fight on the bullet train.

Best part of the film : Post credit scene set up for X4 (Days Of Future Past)
Magento and Xavier enlisted Wolverine to aid them in the upcoming war with the Sentinels

I saw it today...and I really like it! I thought it was a fun, solid Wolverine movie.

I'm really a laid-back-casual X-men fan than most so I'm not so hard on these movies. I go see them and weigh them off what I know comic-wise and what they're presenting on the screen...and this was a good movie to me.

Now...I'm in love with Rila...OMG...like most have said, I'm down for a Yukio solo movie. Mariko was very endearing and enchanting...and I love that she could defend herself as well...would have loved to see her do a little more...

I love Famke...but there was too much Jean...my favorite moments with her are in the beginning and end...love the all-white room and clothing...very good hinting there...

Viper...like I've said before...no reason she couldn't have been human...but for what they did to her by making her a mutant...it didn't hurt to me...I enjoyed her...hope she's not dead....

The Silver Samurai and Yashida stuff...all that was fine...standard -surprise-I'm-the villain-stuff...that was alright.

Surprisingly the end credit scene was the meat and potatoes...that last minute in a half turned me into a flaming fanboy...oh I loved it!

Overall, good movie...would love to see a sequel having Wolverine and Yukio finishing up old business in Canada with Dept. H and Alpha Flight.

LOL join the club!

The line starts right here!

This movie made me miss Japan so much...when Logan stuck the chopsticks upright in the bowl I think I was the only person to go "oh you ain't supposed to do that"

Especially not in a restaurant. You'll get bad looks. Some places will even ask you to leave.

And don't argue with the military cops that carry the white/red sticks.

When I lived in Japan I had to go through a week long class where I learned etiquette in Japanese culture. The chop sticks up right was the first thing we learned not to do.

Hah they didn't give us any etiquette lessons. Right off the transport and out into Honshu for drinks. Bad idea. Very bad.

I was like, "disrespectful." I never knew why until the movie but I knew that was a no-no.

A solid 8 for me. Better than I thought it would be and I'm just happy that Hugh has redeemed himself and Wolverine after 2 lackluster outings with the character (not including his great cameo in FC).

Not your typical superhero flick and that was a plus in this regards after a summer of city wide destruction left and right.

Well to be fair Hugh was never a problem in those films performance or commitment wise it was the scripts/direction.

That's true i think we all knew Hugh was still great as wolverine but it was sad how we had to look all the way back to X2 to really have a solid example of his wolverine in something that was actually good.

Oh yeah I agree with that  thanfully the Wolverine gave Hugh Jackman something to really sink his teeth into and really show his acting chops. I think TW is his best performance as Wolverine but admittedly his performance in X2 isn't too far behind.

Japan is very big on traditions. If Yashida suddenly showed up decades younger, I can totally see people rejecting him. We don't know the exact rules, but it would be problematic.
Don't see how Yashida appearing younger has anything to do with traditions.
Yea. I mean, I liked X-Men Origins: Wolverine as I've already explained in this thread, but I don't totally disagree with you.

The first half of the movie was fine. Sure, Team X moved a bit quickly, but I really enjoyed the moments with Logan & Kayla, and the short time we had with Logan & the Hudsons. The Weapon X procedure definitely could have used more, but I didn't think it was done badly. Just missed potential.

But then the helicopter chase scene hit, and the movie turned into something completely different. Logan bounced around from Canada to Vegas to New Orleans to Pennsylvania in the blink of an eye, the Blob scene was just horrible cheesy, I did enjoy the Gambit scene and thought inside the casino Gambit was well done, but then that Gambit / Logan / Creed 3 way was all sorts of poorly edited. I don't even have to go into explanation on the fire escape. And then BAM! Logan is in Pennsylvania.

I did enjoy the climax, save for Deadpool being computer controlled and having Cyclops' powers but it did mish mash a whole bunch.

There's a reason why, despite still maintaining a high level of enjoyment from the film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is my least favorite of the series, when in all actuality considering the stories told and the characters present, it should be at the top of the list.
I think they should have gone with an half or the other, there was way too much condensed in 100 minutes, i mean, look at the first 5 minutes, Logan is sick, there's a guy that kills his father, he goes on a rampage and kills him, but oh no, he is Logan's true father.

Team X goes on their first mission, Logan and Sabretooth do nothing and in the end Logan goes his oun way, years later Logan has a girlfriend and somebody is after the "old team", as if they had been such a good team, Logan didn't even participate, only look.

Soon after Logan's girlfriend is killed, she had like what? 5-7 minutes of screentime? Logan bonds with adamantium in a watered down version of what we have already seen, really, it laked athmosphere and investment in the character. The rest of the film is even more nonsensical.

The Wolverine has what that film needed, a focus, it went with Wolverine visiting Japan and focuses on that alone, they should have focuses on Weapon X alone, and the brutality of the facility, i'm not saying they should have done a gore fest but they should have in least took their time with the plot, not rush through 150 years of Wolverine's life and graciously ending with a mind wiping bullet.

Oh, and don't even make me start talking about the multiple post-credits scenes that were not pursued or the stupidity in this:

Yep, that just about covers some of my main issues with Origins. Such a shame.

Just for info the average score so far for the poll is 7.8.

The Wolverine

Covering one of the most interesting chapters in the over 100 year life of the popular character Wolverine,
The Wolverine is far better than 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

With a more condensed and sharper story with some alterations to the story that played out in the comic
book,The Wolverine's mind is haunted by visions of Jean Grey who perished by his hands in
X-Men: The Last Stand,he has become a long bearded drifter.
He is given an offer to end his eternity from Ichirō Yashida,(Haruhiko Yamanouch) a man he saved during
the Nagasaki bombing in 1945.
Of course there are all sorts of complications from Shingen Yashida( Hiroyuki Sanada) Ichiro's son,Wolverine's
growing passion for Ichiro's granddaughter Mariko Yashida(Tao Okamoto),an arrow shooting Kenuichio Harada(Will Yun),
the Yakuza, the ninja clan The Hand and last but not least Viper(Svetlana Khodchenkova) as poisionous as she is beautiful.

At this point i cant think of anyone else that could portray Wolverine better than Jackman. He has made the character his own,
over the course of six films.
Jackman fortunately has tremendous chemistry with his female co-stars which includes Rila Fukushima as Yukio, Wolverine's
"bodyguard"

Most of the action in the film is rousing, and the dramatic scenes play out well.
Some scenes seem a bit repetitive at times.

In the end The Wolverine is an engaging adventure and im looking forward to the R rated DVD version of the film.

Scale of 1-10 an 8

Saw it this weekend w/ the wife and kids. Very solid movie imo. Nothing really surprising w/ any of the twists. Much like Faora in MoS I wanted to see more Yukio, she was awesome. Hugh Jackman IS still awesome as Wolverine but he really does need an "R" or director's Cut movie.

If someone says Silver Samurai fights in final battle, then he should go to cinema and watch this movie again.

In final battle we have something like S.H.I.V.A., but with human inside. There isn't any mention about that in movie, but there isn't also that is Silver Samurai MArk II.
Silver Samurai armor was at funeral, Yukio said that.
S.H.I.V.A. was a learning robot sent to kill Wolverine in comic. Old Yashida in robot armor almost kills Logan. In final battle they use even blade which is similar to comic Muramasa Blade. Logan used it to destroy S.H.I.V.A. robot.

PS
This movie was better than family weekend movie IM3 and better than U.S.Army save world again movie MOS.

I think the last 30 minutes a little underwhelming, there was a serious change in tone.

I think after the ninja battle/capture in the little village is when the movie went into unnecessary territory for me.

If they had tweaked the ending and maybe had made the part where he removes the gadget from his heart and the subsequent fight with Shingen as the climax (adding in Viper and everyone there) I think the film then would have been almost a 9 or 10 for me.

R-Rated version may make the my favourite of the series :woot:

If wolverine had fought all those damn ninjas instead of just running away from them, this movie woulda been a 9 in my book

Instead, it gets a 7
