Don't see how Yashida appearing younger has anything to do with traditions.
I think they should have gone with an half or the other, there was way too much condensed in 100 minutes, i mean, look at the first 5 minutes, Logan is sick, there's a guy that kills his father, he goes on a rampage and kills him, but oh no, he is Logan's true father.
Team X goes on their first mission, Logan and Sabretooth do nothing and in the end Logan goes his oun way, years later Logan has a girlfriend and somebody is after the "old team", as if they had been such a good team, Logan didn't even participate, only look.
Soon after Logan's girlfriend is killed, she had like what? 5-7 minutes of screentime? Logan bonds with adamantium in a watered down version of what we have already seen, really, it laked athmosphere and investment in the character. The rest of the film is even more nonsensical.
The Wolverine has what that film needed, a focus, it went with Wolverine visiting Japan and focuses on that alone, they should have focuses on Weapon X alone, and the brutality of the facility, i'm not saying they should have done a gore fest but they should have in least took their time with the plot, not rush through 150 years of Wolverine's life and graciously ending with a mind wiping bullet.
