lets get down to business...will ANYTHING make more money than the titantic?

Spider-Man 3, if anything, could be the one to beat it. But that depends on a few things: how well they market (which needs to be VERY well), and of course, if the movie is actually demographically of interest. I know Spider-Man gets the kids too, so they've got a majority of the demo's covered, but they're missing the tween/teen girls area (and older people as well). For example, I couldn't see my "little sister" or my parents going out of their way to see Spider-Man 3 in theaters... but maybe if the movie is that good, it could draw them, too.

The only reason Titanic is unbeatable is because it had EVERYTHING. I remember I even saw it 2 or 3 times in theaters, and so did EVERYONE else. It was a complete family film. Everyone from your parents, to hardcore action brother, and Leo-lover sister could go see it AND enjoy it. It was epic and yet still pulled every audience. Nothing else really has ever had that kind of demographic pull since.

Titanic won't be surpassed for many years. IN FACT, if you count inflation the highest grossing film of ALL TIME is Gone with the Wind which was released in 1939. So, that says A LOT!

whoever said tht spider-man 3 would top Titanic is sreiously clueless!...
Titanic is a rare movie (in terms of b/o and cultral impact) that only comes around every couple decades...there wont be another movie to do business like it most likely for a long while. With that said i dont know why someone would say spider-man 3 is gonna top Titanic...think about this...Titanic was in theaters for like 7 or 8 months meaning it had a long long long life. The thing about titan is people saw that movie over-and-over-and-over-and-over-and-over again. Comic-book movies though they do well and have impressive openings and things like that...they dont have long staying lives. People don't go to see spider-man 9 or 10 times (at least your average person dosen't)...that would be the only way for another movie to make 600 million dollars domestically.:whatever:

Yes, someday. Not any time soon, though. The movie that usurps Titanic may well be some dark horse film. Big event movies like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or The Matrix could potentially have taken over the #1 spot, but none of them did. Then again, many people expected Titanic to be a flop, so we know that movies we expect very little from can go on to be box office record breakers.

eventually Titanic will be toppled...

It's a damn shame that the prestigious title of "Highest Grossing Movie of All-Time" (without inflation) goes to a film like Titanic.

It was good, but it is highly overrated and not near the quality that is deserving enough to even earn that kind of money. It also robbed L.A. Confidential of the Oscar in 1997. Another movie that fits this category is Shrek 2.

No, too many movies come out each week to draw away potential ticket purchasers. There's way too much competition.

only James Cameron can make more money than Titanic and thats with the sequel "Titanic Returns"

the Titanic returns after a 5 year absence to find its way in the world,
while everyone else has moved on,

And we could have James Marsden as Leo Di "Craprio"'s brother as the new husband of Rose.

Add in some action and we got a winner,

come on cameron, what you say, lets make it happen,

it will make the money at the box office and gonads will fall worldwide

lol

yes but no for while

A number of factors have to occur:

There has to be absolutely no competition.

It has to actually be a good film, maybe even great.

The internet would have to shut down somehow.

so no, it'll never happen again.

Or Titanic: The Iceberg Strikes back.. no? okay.. :csad:

Seriously, the way 300 is going, I am tempted to say that will do it.. but either the next Star Trek, James Bond, SM3, or Watchmen.. Thats only if they don't make a sequel to Napolean Dynamite..

Justice League or Avengers might do it as well.

Titanic was a rare phenomenon. I know now people think it's cool to bash the film now in days and say that it's way overrated, but hey, apparently a lot of people enjoyed seeing it at the time. I know I did. I saw it 5 times in theaters, and still enjoy it now.

My guess is a lot of the kids online weren't alive when it came out or were still in diapers... so they have no real experience of that point in film history and just want to join the Titanic Bash bandwagon.

It's a great film.

and also should not exists anymore DVDs, Pay-Per-View sistem, and of course, movies ilegally recorded in cinemas.

James Cameron's autobiography, aptly titled "King of the World...oh, and Titanic Too(2)" will be the movie event of the universe.

This or Fat Girlz 2.
