Let's Make The Marijuana Thread Again!

I think Randy Marsh said it best about the negatives of weed and abusing it.

Weed makes me want to do things. It makes me want to spend money and experience new things rather than sit around and sit on the computer(like I did a lot more frequently back when I didn't smoke). It motivates me into working harder.

Back in the day I'd spend all my free time on the computer, then when I'd go out on one day during the weekend, I'd blow all my money on alcohol, not talk to any women because I was too busy getting a buzz, and the rest of the weekend I'd sit at home on the computer. And I'd be unable to fall asleep after.

Now instead of spending all that money on 1 trip to the bar, I have more than enough to last me the weekend and more, and I go for walks to the beach, I talk to people, I get out and do things that I put off doing for a long time because instead of being bored in my computer chair, I'm bored outside in the beautiful summer weather.

It's definitely not for everyone, and I was a late bloomer, I used to make fun of "potheads" myself when I was a teen, but Ive been won over.

It depends from person to person. I admit when I smoked after I wouldn't do much. When I got a vaporizer, that changed since my high was more of a body high than a head high, allowing me to work while I vaping.

I'd say the picture is more of for the frequent smokers who gain a bit of a psychological dependency on it.

A lot has happened in this thread. Anyways let me make it abundantly clear, I was referring to the post about health benefits/increased sex performance. That was the reason of mentioning the lowered sperm count from marijuana. Parker stop being trouble maker :argh:

Like I exactly said before my post got deleted, you're overreacting over that post and a simple explanation that you mean that would have sufficed.

The way that either side of this debate willingly tries to demonize someone with a different opinion is ridiculous. :o OMG you believe dat?!

I didn't mean to offend anyone if that happened when I had discussions, but I honestly don't think there's been a sound argument against it.

here's a video of a retired cop from texas basically saying too much focus is put on marijuana criminalization.

They need to come up with a new term for medical marijuana in states th as only allow CBD oils for only a handful of conditions. Like "partial" medical marijuana or "severely limited" medical marijuana.

Also they need to do a study about the percentage of people who could benefit from medical marijuana but can't get relief from CBD oil.

Numerous Human Clinical Trials of Cannabis for Cancer in 2015

The knowledge that cannabis extracts can directly treat cancer has grown tremendously in the past couple years. An explosion of scientific research and anecdotal evidence has shown beyond doubt that cannabis extracts can, in many cases, kill cancer in humans. However, some patients and cancers are resistant to cannabis treatment, and we still don’t know what doses and cannabinoid ratios are best for which types of cancers.

There very well may be cases where cannabis does little besides mitigating the damage of chemotherapy (which in itself can help improve medical outcomes). This is part of the reason why formal clinical trials are necessary. Also, once cannabis is proven to have an anti-cancer effect in at least one cancer, it will open the floodgates for far more research into its uses for other cancers and all kinds of diseases.

-Clinical Trials of Cannabis for Glioma in Spain-
Dr. Guillermo Velasco and Dr. Manuel Guzmán are two of the top cannabis researchers in the world. They have published numerous studies about how cannabinoids fight glioma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. For example, in 1998 they showed how tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) induces apoptosis in glioma cells. In 2011 they demonstrated THC even works with chemotherapy to kill brain cancer.

New Cannabinoids Discovered

Using a complex, multistage, multi-solvent extraction process, scientists started with nine kilograms of dried buds and isolated between 10 and 150 milligrams of these minute compounds. They tested them on mice, and found that a few of them got mice just as high as THC, while others had different effects.

The discovery of new cannabinoids gives us a better grasp on the cannabis plant as a whole, and a better opportunity to understand it as a whole.

I know it can combat diabetes.

Haven't heard much about high blood pressure.

Supposedly, it decreases blood pressure but increases heart rate putting some strain on the heart. At least, I've heard that before. Not sure of it's validity.

Is Weed good for high blood pressure?
i don't think so. my dad has high blood pressure problems & i think i inherited them from him, because when i toke and i'm nervous my heart beats really fast even though i try to keep calm. can't be good for my health.

White House Takes Huge Step Forward In Fight Over Marijuana Research

The White House took a major step forward on Monday to support research into the medical properties of marijuana, lifting a much-maligned bureaucratic requirement that had long stifled scientific research.

By eliminating the Public Health Service review requirement, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), also known as the drug czar's office, will help facilitate research into the drug.

Legalisation took effect in Oregon today.

Fifty-six percent of state voters approved Measure 91 in November, which allows those over the age of 21 to legally possess up to one ounce of cannabis and/or to engage in the non-commercial cultivation of up to four marijuana plants (yielding up to eight ounces of marijuana). The law also permits adults to possess up to a pound of cannabis-infused edibles, 72 ounces of cannabis-infused liquids, and/or one ounce of marijuana concentrates.

Separate regulations allowing for the licensed production and retail sale of cannabis have yet to be finalized by lawmakers. Legislation is under consideration to permit adults to temporarily purchase cannabis from state-licensed medical dispensaries as soon as the fall.

State-licensed retailers are not anticipated to be operational until mid-to-late 2016.

(In the interim, Portland NORML and others are engaging in seed giveaways tonight and tomorrow.)

Oregon is the fourth state – joining Alaska, Colorado, and Washington – to permit adults to legally possess limited quantities of marijuana for their own personal use. The District of Columbia also allows adults to possess and grow marijuana legally.

1 Year After Washington Legalised

THE TAXES

Washington's racked up more than $250 million in marijuana sales in the past year — roughly $62 million of which constitute marijuana excise taxes. That's beyond the state's original forecast of $36 million. And when state and local sales and other taxes are included, the total payday for the state and local governments tops $70 million.

Spain Decriminalises Growing Cannabis
The changes occur under article 36.18, stating that the cultivation of cannabis is only punishable “in public places”. Spain has a long love affair with the plant, even dictator Franco’s 1967 law forbidding the cultivation of cannabis was widely ignored. Punishment for small scale grows was often the destruction of plants and the confiscation of equipment. From today, growers and shops can sell seedlings once they are not openly on sale in a shop window.

Also, Irish Government's Justice Committee Looking for Alternatives to Current Drug Policy

The Oireachtas Justice Committee is seeking submissions from people and organisations on alternatives to the current model of criminalisation. It comes on the back of a committee trip to Portugal, where a delegation studied its model of decriminalisation of the possession of drugs.

A report published by the Justice Committee on the Portuguese system said the approach “has not resulted in an increase in drug-taking nor has it resulted in Portugal becoming a destination for drug tourists”.

It said the Portuguese government and police had also told them:
- The number of crimes directly related to drug addiction had decreased;
- There was at least the same intolerance towards drug trafficking;
- The number of HIV/Aids cases dropped dramatically.

The move by the committee, which is part of an overall inquiry into drug policy, marks another development into what has been a fringe political issue in Ireland until recently. The proposal moved into mainstream debate following the appointment of Labour TD Aodhán Ó Ríordáin as minister of state for the national drugs strategy.

The junior minister said the issue would be considered in both the drugs strategy, which is currently being reviewed, and the country’s foundation legislation on narcotics, the Misuse of Drugs Act, which he hopes to update by the end of the year.

Mr Ó Ríordáin is also considering proposals drawn up by the Ana Liffey Drug Project and the Bar Council regarding the creation of a medically supervised injecting centre, where it would be legal to possess drugs

Chile lawmakers approve marijuana decriminalisation bill

A bill which will allow Chileans to grow small amounts of marijuana for medical, recreational or spiritual use has been approved by the country's lower house of Congress.

The measure will allow each Chilean home to grow up to six plants.

Up to now, planting, selling and transporting marijuana has been punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The new bill will go before a health commission and then the Senate for approval.

Members of the lower house approved the bill by a wide margin, with 68 in favour and 39 against.
