If Boone delivers with The New Mutants, then I'd like him to replace Bryan Singer.

No, let Boone do his New Mutant gig. I imagine he might have a trilogy planned (hmmm, Inferno). I'm kind of curious how Mangold could handle a movie with a full comic feel.

He was gone well before the release. He has done too much for the franchise for Fox to just kick him out forever.

But, he definitely needs a break. I loved Apocalypse and the final scene, but it worries me he may make the action a bit too much "beam spammy".

It won't be a break.he is totally gone now.

Boone hasn't even made new mutants and people want him to be given X-Men?

Says who? Says you. You always post like you know for sure something is for certain.

I never thought I'd say this but he has to go. He apparently likes to edit out interesting moments and details in the interest of "pacing", and yet the pacing is generally slow and the final cut tends to be dull.

I enjoyed the first half of Apocalypse, but the second half was ruined by the misplaced Alkali lake scene, the cheesy moments in the jet, and the lacklustre action.

Him and Simon Kinberg and this dull boring Mystique character need to hand the torch over to someone with an edge. The JLaw Mystique character is as edgy as a soccer mom. They ruined the sleek, sexy, lethal Rebecca Romijn Mystique creation, what have they done?

Still think the movie wasn't as bad as the reviews said it was on the whole, though.

Him popping up in the news negatively again makes me not want him back even more.

I would be surprised if Fox wanted him to return at this point.

after apocalypse underperforming i will be very surprised if he returns
after 20,000 leagues under the sea.It will be box office not internet comments
that causes this.big unknown what future X-men films will be like.

It's still funny how josh Boone hasn't made a genre film yet-new mutants and
the stand are suspose to be his first ones yet people want him to take over
X-men.

next X-men film could be worse than apocalypse.singer likely won't be around to temper any kinberg ideas or kinberg script.

As much as a I appreciate Singer's contribution to the franchise, he needs to go. Yes, most of his X-Men films he directed were good to great. Apocalypse, however, was just okay. It wasn't nearly as bad as the Last Stand. That one is just terrible and I still wish we would have gotten the true X3 with Bryan Singer instead of Brett Ratner. Still, after seeing the new X-Men film, I know that this franchise is in dire need of a reboot. With Hugh Jackman bowing out after next year's Wolverine 3, I think new blood is finally needed for this franchise. The continuity errors and confusion is just crazy bad at this point. I won't even go into it, we all know it's a mess. That being said, I think the rebooted franchise can go around Deadpool just fine, as the Colossus in that movie is a true Russian whereas in Singer's movies he is not. Why not just do that? All this franchise needs is a architect, a Kevin Feige, that can drive the ship and make sure it all fits together perfectly like a puzzle. I don't think Bryan Singer, and especially Simon Kimberg, can do that. I really hope Fox is considering just starting over altogether. Build up to the Phoenix Saga. That's what I want and I think that would be the best going forward.

If he wants to come back for a OT reunion, then sure. If they insist on pushing forward in the past (an odd thing to say) then fresh blood is needed.

He can stay on for as long as he wants imo. For the most part he treats these characters with respect, and injects tons of heart into these films. I'm always surprised at how emotionally involved I get with his X-Men films. When you look at it from a distance all of this stuff is ridiculous, and yet there have been several times where I've teared up at certain moments in his films (Jean death, "All those years wasted fighting each other Charles", and Apocalypse taunting Charles near the end). Due to these aspects Singer has my upmost respect when it comes to X-Men, and I'm not going to condemn him just because he slightly stumbled on one film out of four.

There are two things in this movie: fan-services and a wrap-up of six movies. I'm kind of agree that Apocalypse is not quite as goods as DoFP or First Class but then I remember after this movie, a whole new era will start (that's why Singer mentioned the wrap-up several times). Can't wait for X-Universe's next moves.

Agreed, well said. Without Singer there would be no X-Men movie universe and possibly no CBM golden age like we are in now.

The guy shouldn't just be thrown under the bus because he made one movie I'm the franchise the critics and fans didn't gush over. I personally loved Apoc though and would certainly not mind him staying on as producer if he doesn't want to direct.

While he was the right person to set up the franchise, that doesn't necessarily mean he is still the right person to take the franchise to the next level. While I enjoyed this movie, it really did seem tired. I would analogize it to when a great band puts out an amazing first couple of records, and then the later albums start to suck after they got rich or just ran out of ideas: there is a palpable sense that things are running out of steam - both on the smaller scale of the individual movie and on the broader scale of the franchise overall. Either way, it seems pretty clear that the franchise will actually not survive with him and Kinberg at the helm. It's getting old. Speculative on my part, but I'd wager that this film suffers from the director's overconfidence after the success of DOFP.

But I agree - please get someone who will preserve the emotional resonance. In my opinion, the 1) great acting; and 2) focus on the human struggle saved this movie. But they really do need to put greater thought into who takes on the role of Mystique, and they need more sophisticated action sequences. DOFP Quicksilver scene was fresh. Apoc Quicksilver scene seemed overdone/overproduced. It felt really gimmicky (although thank you for reminding me of a great song!!)

well Singer may not return i don't consider that a good thing.

I consider as one who actully likes apocalypse 2 problems 1:Singer was likely distracted during early stages of writing script due to false allegations against him and 2:Simon Kinberg was probally given more latitude on apocalypse due to success of DOFP and him signing major deal with fox

while a reboot was always a possibilty I don't want one.i defently don't want
a SPider-man homecoming situation.even if fox were to reboot it themselves
which is far more likely if reboot happens it doesn't intrest me.

Since ridleys cott is still making ailen prequels after promeutheus it's always possibly he returns after 20,000 leagues under the sea or overseas things as producer.

SInce fox made sequels to first class and the wolverine and they made less than apocalypse my instinct says they will do followup to apocalypse at
some point.

There are parallels in Mystique-Raven and Scott-Jean relationship in FC/XMA

There is also a color smbolism. Beast and Mystique are blue where Scott and Jezn both see in red. Apocalypse was blue and in the end Charles has a blue costume for the first time. It passes to him as he accept is "blue form" too. It is only then than Mystique stands by him.

Also Jean and Scott meet for real in green, nature, where Beast/Raven where always on the inside and technology. Since the movie is about nature/technology this become surprisely accurate. Showing the change from a trilogy (cure/texhnology) to the other (enhancing powers/nature).

Goign even further: scott-jean-kurt are the new trinity and they all see in red. Nightcrawler was in a cage with a bird and rescued by Mystique. Scott was welcome to School and given his glasses by Beast. both will help Jean.

Mystique-Kurt, Beast-Scott (beast is responsible for havok death), Charles-Jean... in this way it would make another trinity and legacy. And what is add to this is Quicksilver and Storm who were both looking for father-mother-leader figure, wich they will find in Mystique-Beast-ProfessorX, both were living in a basement and both thief.(they were captured by apocalypse/stryker within a four person group of two man and two woman).

Both Mystique and Beast thought the X-Men should exist and Xavier should militariz himself but he wouldn't, he was too much of a pacifist, and it is finally when he does that all access their blue form, all in blue all in harmony.

And this give the new X-Men team. Rock and roll, blend the old and youth in a new way.

(Also Kingberg explained in a interview he used colors for each character and made a board with each character linked in relation to the other, wich i personnaly like, synesthesia).

Even further with the color but Charles is wearing a purple shirt through the movie and looking for Moira, he stated he is not a pervert when he recognize looking for her. Singer said Psylocke represented Sex. She is purple. Through the movie Charles's head was not in the right place, lol, and it's when he get bald, monastic, that he will finally win and give Moira's memory back. He will access upgrade to it's mental space, become stronger as his house become steonger.

Conclusion of the movie: Charles learned how to protect himself, ^lol^

LOL this was hilarious. I'm sure they did try to use color symbolism to some reasonable extent, but it's too much of a stretch to find deep meaning in things like wearing a purple shirt, regardless of the intention.

Well there was a lot of symbolsim around tree and birds in the movie.

Take three consecutive scenes: in one Jean shot an arrow and Scott destroy a tree, in the second when she has her nightmares we have a shot of a picture of a forest/trees burning and they are birds of paper in her room, last scene Erik's daughter die in the woods while summoning birds and shot by an arrow.

She die as she was awakening a strong connection to nature, Apocalypse to awaken Magneto will tell him to "reach deep within the earth" and will make a speech about "...burning a forest and feom the ashes of their world ...". Magneto litterally rip the earth apart of it's magnetic pole while he is in a bubble, closing himself from the world. This is an interesting parallels with our society or man's attitude to isolate himself from the world and change the natural order. This even make Erik lost more tragic as he did everything right and loos his family purely because of fate.

Charles told Scott the tree was a childhood memory, Erik get to live again a painfull memory in the forest, he loose again his family. Apocalypse state that he wznt to destroy civilization, buildings, technology, ... He represent the will to go back to nature in a radical way "rule of the fittest".Charles believe in a different view of nature where "the strong help the ones who needs it". It's a contrast beetwen two views of the world and of nature, as often depicted.

This is the first time we have a accent put on nature in XMen. In this movie they made Trees and forest represent memory and the red represent the super powers and their possible destructive effect. Both Scott and Jean who are having a hard time dealing with there power have red visons, Scott the trees and Jean her nightmare visions. This enhanced emotion and Apocalypse Leitmotiv.

In the end the final color being blue, a calming color wich is blue. Red-Green are opposite colors and blue is in the middle. As well as the movie being about seeking balance, learning to calm you unlimited power of destruction. The movies end with re-building home, a new family has been made and people to defend it. Harmony and solid foundation.

Yes i add the Psylock sexy stuff for the fun, glad it was hilarious, i least i suceeded at that. The grid of colors open other level of lecture, purpke is often associated with sexual desire or mystery but it's the one that were the less expressed in the movie or having a clear meaning (Singer said Psylock represented Sex so i draw from that). It's too bad because there was much to built a tremendous film in those ideas but some plays bad on screen with the editing and some dialogues. I think it cut many people off the emotion wich i found really deep. (Themes like nature-childhood associated may not touch everyone also).

I just check a chromatic circle and beetwen red and green is purple and blue, blue being closer to green and purple to red. It goes well with the intention i explained so even purple find a meaning.

Putting this much emphasis on symbolism just makes the movie seem more and more absurd. It was just not good enough for any of this to hold much weight. I am glad you pointed some of this out but frankly this is a bit of a stretch and even if that much symbolism was intended, it seems meaningless.

Well i noticed it watching the movie and for me it allowed great emotion and momentum, if it works or not is your experience, mine was great. That doesn't make the movie flawless or take many mistakes they made, but i personnaly appreciate the intent to try to give something with that kind of depth, even if it's not fully accomplished. I'm bit tired of everybody believing they just throw stuff in movies without a certain amount of consideration, especially when Singer has been there for 20 years and he said it, it's a conclusion to six film. I felt that strongly in the film and that's what allowed all the emotion to be so vivrant, in direct continuity of DoFP.

The weight depends on you, they just give you the elements and we resonnate, or not. What i wrote really doesn't seem meaningless to me but maybe because i can relate to it personnaly and that's why the movie touched me. It felt pretty coherent througouh. I discover a bit more everyday wich is highly satisfiying for le when a movie as kind of echo beetwen all it's pieces.

I love those movie where everything connects, i choosed my pseudo on that tendency. Honestly what made XMA great was that it connect with all the other, if it was not for that alot of emotion would be lost and the flaws would proeminent. Alone the movie means don't stand that much and for a film about familly i find this beautifull. I'm always afraid people don't get it and i think my english is not sufficently fluent and elaborate for me to articulate my idea in the most representativ form, it also depend on the time of the day or night cycle, sometime i feel like it's getting confusing and so people can't relate, i think if i explained better people would relate more easely.

I appreciate your comments  I think your posts show how Singer is a more thoughtful director than some others in the industry.
