With all five movies he has directed, should Singer continue to direct X-men movies or is time to for him to leave the franchise? Or do you opt for having two directors so Singer can stay?

Also, please point out what are the strength and weaknesses of Singer as a director.

Please stop making a thread for absolutely everything

He should stick around. I fear for the xmen without him

In my opinion, I think he should stay with one more Director to help him. I hate that Singer keeps killing x-men characters in every movie he makes.

In a way I prefer MCU cause they don't kill as much main characters as XCU.

only
Havok dies.Archangel could very well come back

as i said in news and discussion thread I hope after 20,000 leagues under the sea he comes back and does a 2 part shoot back to back film on phoenix and dark phoenix and then leaves franchise permently so people will realize eventully how x-men films without him but with kinberg don't turn out so
well.and i say he shouldn't even produce since when he devolped story and wa shands on producer on first class when he wasn't able to direct people don't
give him any credit.

People are really forgetting shape of franchise was in without him.

It was clear as day from begining apocalypse was going to focus heavily on
Xavier, magneto, and mystique.despite this a strong case can be made jean is
real female lead of apocalypse.and i feel singer made up for the shortcomings of cyclops In X-men and X2.Once horseman were announced it was clear as day magneto would be houseman with the devolpment.Despite this Singer presented storm with accent and gave more insight into her
background than original trilogy did.

Magneto's arc is one of main parts of film but apocalypse defently isn't all
magneto with rest of characters in background.

Actually Singer killed in DOFP Emma Frost, Banshee, Azazel and Angel (that girl).

One could argue that Emma might be alive cause we never saw her body on Trask's files and her being a powerful telepathy could have faked her death. But we definitively saw pics of Angel, Azazel and Banshee on those files.

No we didn't see banshee in those files, it was just angel and azazel.

I'm glad to be wrong about that then. Maybe Banshee survived after all.

I hate when they kill characters. It doesn't make a movie better or worse, just piss off the fans of those characters.

I think X-Men franchise's over-reliance on Bryan Singer is a bad thing, and he has dictated much of the universe in his own interpretation, not all of it good. Yes, he's the person who started it, but that does not mean he is the only person who can handle it well. Jon Favreau jump started the MCU with his Iron Man movie, but now the mantle is passed to the Russo Bros., who directed Civil War and will do it again for the upcoming Infinity War, and MCU has grown stronger as a result. Give it to another director who has a passion for the comics as well as the movies and let him have a shot to make a great X-Men movie.

I do agree that Bryan's interpretation is not without flaws. Look what he did to Rogue.

I think that some characters he may never get it right.

I hope someday they actually make a good Rogue but with the same actress cause I love Anna and it was never her fault.

Yes, Rogue has actually regressed not progressed since her introduction in the first X-Men movie, although I think the movie that did the most damage to her is X3, which was directed by Brett Ratner not Bryan Singer. Even if they won't give her flight and super strength, she should at least have the similar personality as the Rogue from the comics.

X1, X2, X4 are all amazing to me!

Superman Returns bored me.

While Jack the Giant Slayer and X-Men: Apocalypse sucked, in my opinion.

I'd give another chance if the scriptwriter for the film that he's attached with, has a good track record.

Singer didn't direct First Class, that was Matthew Vaughn.

It's really Kinberg's *****ty writing.. X3, F4 and now Apocalypse. Rogue was to have a bigger role in X3, she was to attend Brotherhood meetings (I'm guessing Logan replaced her in the forest scenes) and turns out she was spying on them. Kiss my azz Kinberg.

^
But didn't he also script DOFP?
Guess we need Goldman and Vaughn around even if it's just for writing.

In fairness, like in X4, Anna Paquin didn't have much time to be on the set.

I dont know about him, i have yet to see X6 but it seems like he hit his prime with X2. He doesn't really utilize characters as he should but takes the safe option yet again from the reviews I've read.

I voted Have two directors so he can stay. But it would interesing to see what other directors could do.

He should be moved on. He's got nothing interesting to offer X-Men anymore. People go on about Last Stand, I enjoyed Last Stand way more than this movie.

From what I gather from reviews pre-dofp, while Singer was producing First Class his team were heavily involved with the script, casting, etc.

Though it was clearly a Vaughn film, Singers had a great influence.

Vaughan directed and Goldman wrote it. I'd bet Singer's involvement in FC was minimal. Singer peaked at X2 and despite the glowing reviews I didn't think DoFP was a patch on FC. Move him on and get a director in with fresh ideas.

Apocalypse is not a one movie villain, he fits into the modern world setting better than the 80s. It was a terrible idea to bring him into it just to have him defeated by rookie X-Men. Overly ambitious, jumbled CGI mess of a climax.

Things that would have worked better:

-Classic Horsemen lineup rather than waste Psylocke, Angel and Storm. total waste.

-Apocalypse defeats everyone, laying on the ground.. then[BLACKOUT] Phoenix rises[/BLACKOUT]. We saw it coming a billion miles away with Charles telling her to [BLACKOUT]"Let go"[/BLACKOUT] over and over again >. <

-The Horsemen wreaking havoc globally, why didn't they use Storm's powers more? None of them were threats, only Magneto.

They really need to consult with screen writers who actually read the comics and know how to treat and develop characters from comic to live adaptation. 16 years and only 4 well developed characters. :csad: Come on now Singer.

Was it?
“It would be [weird] if I didn’t write the story for X-Men: First Class. I wrote the story to that movie and I produced it and I was instrumental in the casting, in design and involved in the post-production, so I was part of that movie. I initiated that movie and originated it so in that way, and worked with Matthew and I was the one who actually hired Matthew so in a way I feel like I’m not completely entering someone else’s franchise. I’m entering one that he executed wonderfully, but one that I was also part of.”
