Let's talk deleted scenes (merged)

This moment wasn't in the film either if i remember correctly.

In the mansion during the funeral scene, there's a shot of Siryn crying. You could see Peter and the little boy in the background. They're sort of blurry, but it's them.

Like Ted said, they're only photographs, not frames from the movie.

That is an excellent question! Why was her tidal wave cut? That's ridiculous. And it had to be one of the scenes I was looking forward to most... :(

It might not have got cut. They might have just filmed an alternative scene with a different character instead

Not really , because Callisto grabs her out of the air once she's done with the Tidal Wave thing :p

...

I see how that can work...

Maybe, just maybe, they cut it because people might ask "She's right up there, why don't the Army cure her?"

hmm

If I remember correctly the Army and X-MEN work together. They dont even see Callisto moving up to Storm because she's moving too fast.

Yeah, I think thats how it would've happened. It showed her in the air about to do the tital wave before Callsito grabbed her.

They worked together, but it doesn't mean they wouldn't have shot one of them if they thought they were being offensive against the army. It's a battlefield, people can get confused...

I just saw a tv spot and I realised that there was also a scene were leech was going inot something that looked like a catscan, her didnt have a shirt on and looked like he was gonna be tested on.

Was that in the movie?

I think Ratner went way over his head thinking he cut 30 seconds out of the final cut when there we clearly saw more stuff that was in the trailers and t.v spots that weren't in the movie. Probably fox's fault since they're the villians behind the production.

I wish they could all go to hell.

haha well i really did enjoy the movie and i hope it makes money, but there were alot of missed opportunities and thats were I blame Fox. A part of me wants this movie to do bad to teach fox a lesson, but it was also a good movie were i want it to make money:( :)

So true. I agree. While I still enjoyed X3, if they had more than 8 weeks to work on the visual effects and all that, X3 could have been better.

I'm gonna cry. did you see the unused phoenix stuff they had?
This is movie 3! What is so important about Mermorial day? Why can't we have the August slot back for a full year production!!!! I'm going to comicon San diego, and I'm going to hold a protest if we don't get some answers! We can't see the dreams we grew up with ripped to shreds for the sake of this quick movie crap! Love the movie but, you can't do this to such a good story. P.s. would have loved it if Good Jean could have hung out a little longer before going postal. And Collossus? I need Collossus to be more than a shiny blip in the background thanks. Give Rogue Magneto's powers from X1, she touched him long enough. If you make a new re-edited dvd extended edition, have the courtesy to take psylocke out of the credits. One word about nightcrawler being on vacation would please me too , just so I don't have to explain to my non- freak friends that his story gets explained in the video game!

There, there... :p

So what about that scene with Storm standing with Bobby and Beast? I remember seeing a pic of that somewhere...

Dr. Manhatten,
(what's with the spelling?)

Where did some of the important music cues go? Look at Jean and Logan's first 'love' scene in the infirmary. Remember the dreamy choir bit heard in early clips? It is present on the soundtrack cd, so why not in the final cut?

What about the scene where Logan meets Jean and Magneto in the forest? There was a nice bit of melodramatic scoring here when he sees Jean (it is also in the final cd score), but in the final cut the music is muted until Magneto "throws" Logan against the tree.

"This is who I am, Bobby". Rogue says this in early teasers, which is likely from an alternate ending for her character. Not in the final cut.

"You might not come back..." Now, Wolverine is reduced to a simple "They're ready." Can you tell me what the kids have done in the preceding 80 minutes since the Danger Room scene that has made them any more "ready" than they were then? (When Wolverine claims to Storm, "They're not ready.") No suspense, no substance in the final cut version. It's therefore an emotionally flat moment. Bad filmmaking.

I could go on and on...

Yes, films this large require many shots and pickups, and are surely edited after debating many different takes of certain scenes. Point is, when such inconsistencies as I mentioned above are occuring, and on as large a scale as they are, it reeks of a "rushed" product, yes, but more importantly it signifies a real indecision in the process of filmmaking, and a rather obvious sign that a networked mentality is not only present, but interfering with any consistent vision that is attempting to break through. The filmmakers' job, in this case, is stuck between not only working within this network of absolutes from all sides, but also delivering a "blockbuster product" that proves successful critically and industrially.

Now, I suppose there could be all sorts of reasons why your name is Dr. Manhatten; it could be as simple as, some other user has already taken the "correct" spelling name. But I'm also sure you're prepared to give one consistent reason for the choice of name, right? (I don't intend any ill will about this, I'm just trying to make a point...)

I'll get to the spelling in a second. I think you're putting more symbolism on the spelling of my name than there really is.

The dreamy music cue? I haven't downloaded the score or anything, so if it's on the score soundtrack, I can't vouch for it. But the full score for a movie is not always used. The composer of the Final Fantasy series composed a song called One Winged Angel that was over a half hour long, but only a few minutes were used. The soundtracks are meant to give the full score, but like deleted scenes, not everything is kept in.

Same for the scene in the forest. Maybe Ratner decided that it was better to have the scene relatively scoreless to heighten the drama; some scenes don't need music to build suspense.

If you're talking about the line itself, not all recorded lines are used in a movie. If you're talking about the alternate ending, are you asking why it wasn't used? Probably cause it just repeats a story arch that Angel went through. Angel decided to embrace his powers and live with it. Rogue is the other side of the coin who decided to give up her powers and X-Men covers Angel's way of thinking plenty enough. It was strange at first, but now I see why Ratner chose the ending he did. It works, for me at least from a cinematic POV.

I hadn't seen the trailers in awhile before seeing the movie, so I didn't know about the 'not ready' line. I thought it was fine, but then again, I really liked the movie. Maybe it could've used that exchange, I dunno.

I didn't get the rushed feeling, but I deliberately stayed away from spoilers and such so I could watch the movie clean and not bemoan it for cutting out stuff I heard about from set reports. Cutting out some of the stuff mentioned doesn't mean Ratner was indecisive. Indecisive means a person doesn't know what they want and can't decide. If Ratner kept in even 90% of what he shot, he knew what he wanted. There are numerous reasons why scenes are shot but then cut, and believe me, X3 aint' the first movie to feature scenes in trailers and ads that aren't in the movie. Not even the first Marvel movie. Most of the scenes likely have very logical reasons for getting cut.

Far as my name is concerned, there is no deep meaning on why my name was spelled with "en" than "an". I misspelled it when I registered and hadn't gone back to change it. There might've been someone else with the name, but I don't remember. And if you don't know why I named myself "Dr. Manhatten" then I take it you've never read The Watchmen
