I wish someone would clear all this info coming in, did Tom Jane not leave the project or did he and will only come back if Lexi directs it?

Lexi Alexander seems to be the frontrunner for Thomas Jane in the upcoming "The Punisher" sequel.

i think that's just an oversight on Dark Horizon's part. He's out... for the time being.

Green Street Director for Punisher 2?

The rumour that Punisher 2 has found a Director is strange indeed, especially since Thomas Jane has officially removed himself from the sequel.

I had thought I had written about Thomas Jane signing him off from the sequel, but obviously not. He had written quite despondant words about leaving the film, but it did seem pretty firm and final. So the rumour from Dark Horizons through Moviehole that a director is onboard is a bit surprising.

According to the rumour Lexi Alexander is set to direct, she's the woman who directed the very powerful Green Street (Filmstalker review), a film about English Football hooliganism.

If this is true then could we see Thomas Jane reconsidering and returing to The Punisher 2? I would think that he might well do it, after all Lexi Alexander would be a great choice. However, do you think she'd really give a comic book adaptation a go, and a sequel at that?

You know what, having a good director on board could be enough to bring jane Back.

So just having Lexi Alexander as the director would bring Tom back????? It would be that easy????

If there is for sure a sequel filming soon let's beg Jane to come back. Lexi is a good director, and the script is probably not as bad as some of those people who have read it have said. Come on, Jane agreed to do the first one and that script wasn't all that. I am curious to know if Lionsgate has found a new Punisher. If Jane never comes back which actor would make a better Punisher and make you say Tom Jane who?

Would a really good director sign on to a movie that could ruin you're career?

apart from joel Batman and Robin of cause.

HMMMM....If anyone could entice Tom Jane to come back, it would be Lexi.

They have her movie Green Street Hooligans on sale at Walmart for $4.88, so I bought and watched it. Not bad, very nice fights with realistic blood and brutal violence. I have no worries about her directing the sequel, but who the hell is going to play the Punisher is the million dollar question. :unishr:

........... So Lexi Alexander would some how make the people at Lionsgate see the "light" and do what Tom tried to do for the past 3 years???

Don't get me wrong I would love it if Tom came back but...... I don't see it as it being that easy.

I think considering the meager funds allocated to the previous film the real question should be...

"Wholl will play in a million dollar budget Punisher movie?"

Remember they have the funds thanks to recent deal Lionsgate struck, which was a thread posted by Advanced Dark.

Studio agreement to cover 23 films

By JILL GOLDSMITH

Lionsgate is wrapping up a $210 million slate financing pact led by Goldman Sachs in a sign that hedge funds remain attracted to Hollywood - or at least to particular deals -- despite mixed results in 2006.

Separately, Wall Streeters also said that Morgan Stanley is in the market selling a slate financing deal for Paramount Vantage, building on the "Babel" buzz.
The Lionsgate agreement covers 23 films, excluding the "Saw" movie franchise and films from Tyler Perry of "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and "Madea's Family Reunion" fame. Perry's next pic is "Daddy's Little Girl" due out in February.
Lionsgate will get a distribution fee of 15% -- on the high side for slate deals --- showing just how the mini-studio has impressed Wall Street with its track record and its model of modestly priced pics.
Lionsgate execs declined to comment on the financing.
But people who have spoken with the company say it's been insisting up and down the block that the fresh coin doesn't mean it will abandon its model and launch into the big-budget arena. Investors in any case will have the opportunity to opt out of any picture costing over $50 million. Paramount Vantage parent Paramount Pictures has its own $300 million, 30-picture slate financing pact, Melrose 2, through Dresdner Kleinwort.
