It should neither play in America nor Japan. Simply because DBZ-earth isn't our earth. It's a made up world where the earth is one united nation under one President, if I remember correctly. I also don't want to see any familar buildings from our cities. DBZ towns have a unique style, and I'd want to see them in the Movie.

Yeah, I was about to say something like that. DBZ inhabits a futuristic/fantasy world that combines the best of both elements. I especially like the idea of the "King of the World" shows world wide unity.

The world in DB should be so far ahead of ours that war has been eliminated, therefore the only threats come from space. I like this idea. Also, I really love the style of the buildings in DB and all the little eccentricities of their world.

They should strive to keep as much of it intact as possible.

I also think that the fights should be much more detailed in the movies & instead of having the character's being seriously damaged after two or three punches, they should actually take a lot of abuse before being half dead.

The thing that makes me mad is that The matrix stole a lot of DBZ's signiture moves and shots. The looking down as Trinity does the flip after she crashes her motor cycle in the begining of reloaded (click on video below and watch the shot when the timer hits 5:00) is from when he fought BUU. there are a lot of shot lifts. Now if they do the signiture shots, people will claim they are stealing from DBZ when in reality they stole from it. bullet time was a major lift from DBZ, and they were doing that in the earlier episodes when goku was older. Ohhhhhhhh you don't have to tell me, brotha. I remember VIVIDLY the night I was in college and went out to see The Matrix Revolutions in the theaters. I literally COULD NOT take my eyes off the screen. During the last 20 mins ALL I kept repeating my head was.

"OH MY GOD...this is exactly like Dragonball Z."

Seriously, I was expecting either Agent Smith or Neo to shoot a ki blast, but they never did. Some interviewer needs to ask the Wachowski Bros about the obvious inspirations from Dragonball Z.

I guess that could be a possibility, but still before anyone choreographed anything the W Brothers had to type these action scenes out first. Not to mention they are huge Anime fans. That being said how could they not take inspiration while making their action movie from the greatest action cartoon of ALL time?

All I'm saying is that its a pretty big coincidence. Its like if I wrote a movie about a bullet proof talking car, instinctively you'd think of knight Rider and you'd probably be right to assume that, that's where I got the Idea, cause it would probably be true.

I think DBZ influenced it, thats all I'm saying.

Earth (also known as the Dragon World) is a fictional planet inhabited by humans, demons, extraterrestrials, and the like being the main setting for the bulk of the plot of the Dragon Ball manga, the Dragon Ball anime, Dragon Ball Z, as well as Dragon Ball GT. Characteristics

Earth is very advanced (though the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z saga takes place in the 700s A.D.; see Age system below). Flying vehicles, capsules that can shrink inanimate objects down to pocket size, robots, and other near-future Sci-Fi staples are common-place on Earth. The architecture is also more advanced. The buildings are usually rounded, often employing spherical or ovoid sections held aloft by a cylindrical stem. Certain elements of magic also coexist with the advanced science.
Politically, Earth has a planet-wide monarchy. It is divided into 43 "sectors", led by the King of the Earth. The dating system is also quite different. While the length and divisions of the year seem to be identical to the Gregorian Calendar, years are reckoned by the Age system (エイジ Eiji, interpreted as the Christian A.D.). The standard currency is Zeni, which is mostly mentioned at the World Martial Arts Tournament.

In the Dragon Ball universe, all planets benefit from an appointed deity. Throughout most of series, the God of the Earth is Kami, but later that position was given to Dende after Kami had fused with Piccolo. Because both Kami and Dende are Namekians, they have the ability to create seven Dragonballs, which can grant wishes if all seven are collected. These wishes are used regularly throughout Dragon Ball for many various things, usually bringing people back to life. Earth itself is wished back into existence a number of times through this method.



Inhabitants

Dragon World is primarily dominated by humans. With the exception of the uncommon hair colors and occasionally odd features (ranging from longer lifespans to werewolfism, to Tenshinhan's third eye) and abilities, Dragon Ball humans are identical to their real-life counterparts. Humans in Dragon Ball seem to be able to utilize or be affected by certain elements of magic. Toriyama himself has admitted to lack of forethought or planning when it comes to the details of Dragon Ball's story, which accounts for some of the strange occurrences.[2] Due to the biological similarities Saiyans have to humans, the two species are able to interbreed, producing hybrids.
When compared to other species of Dragon Ball, humans are significantly weak. It is said that a single Saiyan infant would be capable of destroying the general population on its own. However, a select few humans have learned to use ki and are among the strongest beings in the universe. Even with such abilities, this select group of humans are still considerably weaker than many aliens with the same ki-manipulation abilities. As stated in the manga, it's possible for any human to use their ki and gain powers like the Z Fighters. For example, Son Gohan easily teaches Videl how to use ki to fly.
Though less common, intelligent anthropomorphic (and sometimes non-anthropomorphic) animals such as Oolong and Pu'ar are integrated into the population and are well-adjusted and are also accepted as people (this is similar to fairy tale animals in European fiction, such as the Three Little Pigs, Puss in Boots, etc.). Even so, the anthropomorphic population sees a drastic and noticeable decline over the course of the series.
Creatures and devices used on Earth also vary greatly, as is common in works such as Dragon Ball. Dinosaurs and other extinct creatures in the real world still roam the Dragon World freely, while the characters fly around in futuristic levitating cars and houses that can be shrunk down to convenient travel-sizes.

I REALLY hope they incorporate all of that into the Live Action Dragonball Z movie. If they put all this in the movie it could become truly unique similar to how Star Wars is in a universe all its own.

This movie should the Saiyan saga & the next movie should be the Namek/Freeza saga & so forth. If they follow the manga, everything should be able to fit into each movie. Hopefully there will be only minor changes, nothing major that will make us hate this movie forever.

If they stay really close to the source material, it'll loose all realism, which will loose all connectivity with the viewer. However, if they try and make it 'real', it'll remove all that made it special.

Meh. I wouldn't exactly call Toriyama an action-innovator. Writing an action scene just comes naturally to some people. About 90% of the moves in DBZ will have appeared in some form before and after Dragonball. Also, Knight Rider isn't comparable. That's a story premise. This is action choreography.

Why does everything have to be so real? This isn't Law & Order or something, it's Dragonball Z. Everything done doesn't have to be realistic to connect with the audience. Need I point out the long list of movies which stray about as far away from realism as you can go? Star Wars (Fantasy and Scifi merged seamlessly), Lord of the Rings, even The Matrix.

As far as I'm concerned REALISM IS NOT something we should be cocerning ourselves with otherwise why make the film. ESCAPISM is what is most important here. People become too obsessed with making everything "Real" and in this process lose what makes something special in the first place. Why exactly do we need another realistic movie? Don't we already have enough of those? Wouldn't you rather see something original and faithful to the manga as much as possible? Mystical Martial Arts, Magical Treasures, Space Aliens, Dinosaurs, Futuristic Cities and Technology...these are ALL things that make DBZ exciting and fun.

The audience WILL NOT lose connectivity. DBZ is basically a combination of every huge Scifi summer block buster ever made. It's Jurassic Park, Star Wars, ID4, Superman, Kung Fu Hustle, Jet Li's Fearless, and Pirates of the Caribbean all rolled into one action packed package.

They owned a comic book shop and they sold anime videos. The Matrix was to make a live action anime show. They have intimate knowledge of Dragonball Z. No they totally lifted it. All the movies were storyboarded with shots specifically echoing anime.
