I'm just happy it had a bigger opening than Origins, even if it was close.
Weren't the original estimates like 65-70 million?
Fox were estimating 60-65 million.

Just checked one of my local theaters website, curious as to how sales are going today... and they've sold out every showtime so far today. And the 7 pm showtime is already sold out. The 9 pm showtime only has about 10 seats left.
And it's not like this theater is the only one around. There's multiple theaters in this area.
It's great to see!
based on according to estimates it barely beating out origins then i think considering how it holds up before beauty & the beast drops a 180 million or higher domestic gross is looking likely.
see this doing $200 domestic because of how well the film has been received by both fans and critics. Some are already saying it may beat Kong next weekend based the critical and audience reception.
i can see it beating Kong.it's beauty & the beast to worry about.
frobes previously thought it would hit 180 million.whil one of tracking website said it could do 200 and up.
7TH Update, Sunday 10:56 PM: Logan is getting larger. Rival estimates tonight see the Hugh Jackman movie on course for an $87.56M opening after a $23.2M Sunday. That’s 10% higher than the $21M Fox was expecting today, with Wolverine’s third day down just 26% from Saturday’s $31.3M.
Should these estimates stick into Monday, Logan will rank as the 4th best R-Rated domestic opening behind Deadpool ($132.4M), The Matrix Reloaded ($91.77M) and American Sniper ($89.3M). The Wolverine threequel has already sliced up other R-rated movie openings including Hangover II ($85.9M), Fifty Shades of Grey ($85.1M) and Passion of the Christ ($83.8M).
Among other records, Logan is the best opening ever for director James Mangold and it will rank as Jackman’s third best behind X-Men: The Last Stand ($102.75M) and X-Men: Days of Future Past ($90.8M). The movie also reps the third best for producer Simon Kinberg after Deadpool and Days of Future Past, the second best for producer Hutch Parker, and the fifth best for producer Lauren Shuler Donner.
Actually, sounds like $88.3 opening weekend.
That's great!Yup, just a 23% dip from Saturday on Sunday. For a non-holiday, non-summer Sunday that's a great hold.
MONDAY UPDATE, with Logan actuals: Fox’s Logan leapt a massive $6.5M in Sunday finals at the international box office. Now beasting out with a $159M offshore bow, the Wolverine threequel has a global total through Sunday of $247.3M. It has also become the biggest R-rated overseas opening ever, topping Fifty Shades of Grey‘s 2015 haul of $156M. Fifty did not have China in the mix, and that is where $2.5M of the extra gross on Logan materialized. Also notable: The UK opening is the best for star Hugh Jackman at $11.6M including previews.
More tidbits at the link. But any way you slice it, Logan is a smash hit.An $88.3 million debut weekend gives the Hugh Jackman vehicle a 2.67x weekend multiplier, stemming from its $33m opening day. That's the third-biggest multiplier in the X-Men series behind only Deadpool (2.79x) and X2: X-Men United (2.73x)...
It's still the fourth-biggest debut ever in March, behind Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc.'s Batman v Superman ($166 million), Lionsgate's The Hunger Games ($152m) and Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland ($116m)...
Its $247.3 million global debut is, as of this writing, 30th of all time (between The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part II and The Dark Knight Rises) and the second-biggest ever for an R-rated movie right between Universal/Comcast Corp.'s Fifty Shades of Grey ($242m) and Deadpool ($267m). In terms of just overseas figures, the $159m bow is tops for an R-rated movie....
So yeah, Logan is a smashing success straight out of the gate, earning 2.41x its $100 million budget in the first few days. At a glance, we may be looking at a $220m domestic total and a $105m Chinese total along with whatever else it makes around the world. If it performs identically in terms of legs to Days of Future Past, and that's not a prediction, we're looking at a $702m worldwide total. If it performs like Deadpool (which didn't even play in China), we're looking at a $645m total.
So yeah, a $700 million+ global total is possible, especially with the positive narrative and strong word of mouth, but we should remember that even something closer to $550m would be a huge win for the franchise and the studio.
Yeah Logan is going to outgross Apocalypse.
I wonder how Kinberg feels about that.
