Since weve seen a few dozen unofficial pictures now and a Trailer isnt gonna be too far away, nows a good time to give a prediction now and a prediction after the Trailer and see how they differ.

When i first heard about the movie back in 2002/2003 at the height of its popularity and it was to be Dragonball Z i thought around $500 million worldwide.

Then about 5 years later and heard theyd start with Dragonball i thought $30 million worldwide.

However no with the Cast and Crew being nothing special, the complaining about Racism, the release date being April and the talk of it looking cheap im gonna hope it at least makes over $300 million

We have one of these threads, I think.

But yeah 300 million sounds right.

I say $110 million domestic, with an international tally at about $175 million, for a grand total of $285 million.

How much money do you think this film will make on its Opening Weekend?

For Example Spider-Man (2004)

Opening Weekend: $88,156,227 (4,152 theaters, $21,232 average) % of Total Gross: 23.6%

85 million domestically
157 million overseas

$240-245 million worldwide.

Spider-Man made $114 million in its opening weekend; I think the numbers you have are from Spider-Man 2, which actually opened on Wednesday (and took $63 million in between Wed/Thur prior to the opening weekend).

I'd say Dragonball will open with a $35 million dollar opening weekend, which is quite good. If there is some hype surrounding it, it may see upwards of $40 million.

You may look at that number and think that it's not that great, but I've studied the box office for a while and anything over $30 million has a decent chance at crossing $100 million domestically. I'd say $35 million is a fair estimate on the basis that this film is not a bonafide blockbuster or 'gimme' -- such as Spider-Man or Batman. It's up in the air.

I predict at least 45 mil. opening weekend. 150 mil domestic. And like 100 mil. from just Japan :). And another say 30-50 mil from the rest of the international to make 280-300 mil.

Domestic: 157,000,000 Foreign: 139,000,000

Worldwide: Around 296,000,000

I'd be surprised if it took more in domestically than internationally, especially considering Japan's strong affiliation with the source material.

Your right my mistake I got the Opening Weekend for Spider-Man 2. :yay:

Thats true... Flip them around then. :oldrazz:

Quick recovery. :oldrazz:

Quick like lightning! I now this is unrealistic and childish of me but deep inside I want this film to be the biggest thing ever! I want Dragonball to break Box Office records and such. But I must remain realistic and realize that this film wont do as good as Spider-Man did, but then again I guess you never know.

Wow I was checking out how 300 did in the Box Office. I did not know they did that well. If 300 (2007) could do that well in the Box Office I'm sure Dragonball can do as well as 300 did.

Domestic: $210,614,939 46.2% + Foreign: $245,453,242 53.8% = Worldwide: $456,068,181
Opening Weekend: $70,885,301 (3,103 theaters, $22,844 average) % of Total Gross: 33.7% Widest Release: 3,280 theaters

It won't come close to Spider-Man numbers. Few films in the history of the industry have. Dragonball will be fortunate to generate the numbers predicted all here; that is, fortunate in that it would merit a sequel.

On average, we're seeing numbers of about $100 million domestic/$150 international for $250 million worldwide, which is reasonable. It's nice to see some have a bit of knowledge of the box office. Anyone predicting beyond $350 million overall for this film would be going against the odds.

I'm going to get a little bold and say that Dragonball has the potential to match up with how 300 (2007 film) did in the Box Office. 1.) Dragonball is well known all around the world. 2.) Been around longer than the 300 (novel) so its reputation is far more expansive.

So it might make around these numbers:

Domestic: $210,614,939 46.2% + Foreign: $245,453,242 53.8% = Worldwide: $456,068,181
Opening Weekend: $70,885,301 (3,103 theaters, $22,844 average) % of Total Gross: 33.7% Widest Release: 3,280 theaters Release Date: March 9,2007

CMill closed the previous threads of this nature which were to be opened after a trailer is released, I think I shall follow his lead here. I'm going to close this until a trailer comes, and when it does I will open it back up and add a poll as well
