Skwad made me question Ayer's writing, several actors, and the one & only studio who decided Trailer Park for an entire flick was a good idea.

He and Tim Sale just need to call it quits. They were barely ok back in the day, now their art pales in comparison to the new talent.

Sale is unique in a "painting/canvas" type way. As for Romita JR, I was never "that dude" that ever got mad at comic books and what not but man, Romita JR's run on Superman when he was paired with Johns made my stomach turn. His art looked so bad that it actually p$%#ssed me off in my readings. He does this thing with hair that looks like weeds growing out of the ground. I literally envisioned in my mind a made up character with a weed whacker come about and chop those things up. Just awful (and he did it again with Peter Parker in the pic posted a few posts up.) The way he draws the anatomy of the body looks like a corpse fresh on its way to postmortem, especially his hands and fingers. Euhhhhh.

That face tho

Suicide Squad wasn't a disaster. I'd be up for a sequel from Ayer.

I agree. It's not particularly good outside of characterization. But it's watchable. If anything it gets a lot of building out of the way for a sequel with a good plot.

And if you look hard enough you find character arcs embedded in the film. Croc was acting like an animal when we're first introduced to him in his cell. At the end he was kicking back and watching tv like a normal person. Little things like that redeem it some what.

Has this actually been confirmed? It seems like internet ****ery to me
That's what the trades picked up as far as bts stuff.
The movie definitely feels like it was edited by them.

Plus, it's not remotely what I'd see Ayer managing to put out, cut-wise, but he spoke as much as he could (taking most of the blame).

Oh my, this is fun to look at and attempt to dissect. I realize Superman is an alien so he has to have differences in anatomical structure, but what's visible of his skeletal structure has always been very human like, so I'll not excuse this.

His rib cage is too small, intercostal spaces are very even in length from the inside going out.

Godzilla Mendoza should tackle this in his next 'Bad Comics Art' video.

So this is a nice way of saying that this is barf? Lol.:sly:

:hehe:
I'll choose fascinating instead.
I've been a fan of his work for years, but I believe his style became worse as this decade progressed.

Is DC still going to stick with Jared Leto's Joker?

I hope they do. He's a good actor. And I actually liked the design. I'd say just give him better direction and mix in some more classic elements with his current design and I'll be a happy camper. Make the teeth gold. That's the big thing for me.

Heh, I'm getting deja vu when Simon Kinberg said Fan4stic wasn't a disaster.

Not a very endorsing statement for a movie regardless.

Leto can surprise many of his critics by giving a great performance in any one of his upcoming movies (Blade Runner, The Outsider), also Disney wants him for Tron reboot.

People will start back-pedaling their comments about his "acting" soon.

It's silly to question his acting at all. He had one rough performance in a film filled with them.

What SSQUAD did for me was want to revisit the characters. You could see the movie tearing apart from its seams well into the second act and the beginning of the third but even though I felt it falling apart, I still got a great sense of enjoyment out of all the characters and for me, that's a big deal. The movie is what it is, but we know the likes of Harley, Deadshot and even Waller and Boomerang had some necessary weight to them. Leto's Joker and how he was used was a slight hiccup but I don't think it was the actor's fault. If you have Joker, go FULL THROTTLE with the guy (but I did like the concept of his role so it's mixed and things that can easily be fixed.)

Since this is the lounge, I'll say it here: I wish I didn't get notifications when people on my ignore list quote me. In this case, ignorance is bliss since their posts are beyond predictable at this point.

Leto is a fantastic actor. I liked his Joker, but didnt love it. He needs better lines and direction. A Matt Reeves directed Batman film with a substantial role for Leto will be brilliant.

You can get notifications when people quote you? News to me.
