The Ultimate Cut would have been received the same way imo.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if critics criticized it even more due to it's three hour length.

BvS needed to be shorter, not longer. There were too many subplots and as a result the film became muddled.

Longer length and even less action would have been criticised. Also the UC was even more darker and R rated. On the flip side, it was coherent and didnt have all the editing and plot issues the TC had. And it was paced better. And those were big issues.
 
But it got positive reviews and I liked it :yay:
I got the sense they might've been testing out directors doing similar movies that year to take on Lion King and Favreau came out on top.
 
Edge of Tomorrow is a good movie, but the action was hard to follow.

The movie was decent, but it ran out of steam during it's third act. Just wasn't that interesting towards the end.

I find funny how people use this "oh Snyder, yea, too smart for us, sure" sarcastic bull**** to ridicule Snyder's work while his films are so highly elaborated and people don't give him credit for that because they don't even notice that. The overlays above the actual story, metaphors, symbols, mirroring of scenes, parallels, interconnections, allusions to other artworks outside cinematography, meta-narration, that's why I love his movies. :woot:

Because it threatens their ego that they as critics didn't get all the themes in this "dumb" movie.

Interestingly enough Edge of Tomorrow was a movie I wouldn't have bothered with had it not been for reviews. Trailers and name where generic, and it was coming off of Tom Cruise's other sci-fi action Oblivion that was pretty bland.

I do think it's funny WB committed to the name change from Edge of Tomorrow, to Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow

That's my biggest gripe about MOS. I hated that scene. Not only was the symbolism obvious, but the acting in that scene was terrible.

I still like MOS, but I hated that particular scene.
 
Aaaaactually it' WW1 so not Nazis.

I like the look of that scene, or what we've seen from it anyway.

The execution of the scene is fine. I just wish they were able to superimpose Gal's face over the CGI rendering of her.
 
That and a couple other were a bit on the nose. Some were too obscure. Most of them are great though, and really cool. Terrio takes a lot of credit.

Well, to be fair, the symbolism isn't just juxtaposing Clark with Christ. It is specifically referencing Christ in Gethsemane.

Anyway, I liked the scene. It reminded me of Clark talking to Pastor Linquist in Loeb and Sale's Superman for All Seasons.

There are def some moments that they need to work on. Hopefully it looks better in the theater. But I don't have any major gripes, just small ones ;)

Oh yeah, that was too over the top. Then again I am so over the Jesus connection with Superman.

While I enjoyed Clark's little 'heart-to-heart' with the priest, I agree with you. That kind of symbolism comes across a lot better when it's subtle -- not heavy-handed.
 
All the Jesus parallels in Man of Steel never occurred to me until I saw someone on the internet criticizing Zack for overdoing it. I thought the background was there because it was a Church. :huh: Then again, I don't know anything about Jesus or Christianity.
 
I definitely found it to be ham-fisted and way too obvious

You don't have to be religious to notice it. Some of the most vocal critics of the scene are, in fact, atheists/agnostics.
