Just like everything in that movie. Absolutely nothing. I really hope the events of it are never brought up again. I'm happy to see the characters again, but don't acknowledge it.

I wouldn't mind if they just ignored the continuity and remade the film with Joker as the villain. lol

Yaaah that would be great. I'm still just so shocked at how un-Ayer-y the plot was. And he was the one who pitched it to WB! When I heard Ayer was writing/directing I thought it would be this grounded spec ops type movie. I mean, in interviews before the film came out he was saying how he hated all these cliche Superhero movies with their big CGI third acts....

Either he was ill equipped to do a movie of this size or the studio meddled, big time. Or both. I think they used the first draft and just went with it :funny: The narrative fails on pretty much every level.

I am a big fan of CGI destruction porn 3rd acts but Skwad totally dropped the ball there. I mean the concept of Task Force X lends itself to a smaller and more ground level combat scenes. They had just had to up the stakes in the final act. Instead we got a contrived and lazy CGI show. SMH.

The hype was damn real for the batmobile chase scene in SS.

Then we got a look at the heavily-edited sequence in a talkshow (IIRC). "Hm, the editing is quite ****e, but probably because it's only a teaser for the actual scene. There's no way it will be exactly like this in the movie."

... sigh.

Yeah I remember seeing this on Conan and then coming here and agreeing with people saying this is just an edited clip because SURELY no one would put something this terribly edited in the movie.

Oh, man :funny:

It made no sense too! Why would Ayer think watching Enchantress go hand to hand combat with the Squad would be exciting? It was boring as hell.

Speaking of Suicide Squad, there are two announcements I want from Comic-Con:

1. The Batman release date
2. Mel Gibson confirmed as director of Suicide Squad 2

I think the ship has sailed with Gibson. it would have been announced by now if it was happening.

I know people are not a fan of his, but I would love to see Ritchie's SS if Gibson doesnt happen.

It's pretty soon... What are the rumors for SDCC so far? Anything sounding plausible?

I personally don't want release dates or a slate to come out. We've been burned by them not following through way too much in the past and honestly. But **** yes I want Mel to direct SS2. I literally just watched Hacksaw Ridge last night for the first time, it's a damn near perfect movie. I love Mel too because I just know no studio head would try to **** him over, and we see how great he can work with a budget on the smaller side and a tight shooting schedule.

Ritchie is my #2 after Gibson, but he's tied up in Aladdin.

wow, those would be two toooooooootally different movies.

I just want to learn that Ayer is far away from DCEU ESPECIALLY Gotham City Sirens

Ritchie could actually make the shambolic stuff in the first one work, at the very least add good soundtrack to it not 100 songs that would be completely jarring. He has a gift of using music very well in his films, it's always a lot but it never feels like a mess

I read they may reveal who is playing Catwoman and Ivy

I heard from a pretty reliable source that yes, SDCC is happening this year.

After seeing the reactions to Greatest Showman trailer I just wanna say "so this is what it feels like" to BvS fans :funny:

I'm a BvS fan and I feel great lol. Regardless of the conversations of back and forth that take place and the gross exaggeration of BvS being the worst thing ever, I get a personal joy out of the fact that BvS worked for me and that I enjoyed the hell out of it. That's winning. It's kind of like being an away team fan going into a stadium full of the other teams fans and watching your team score. You may be high-fiving 4 people but it's exhilarating to watch the groans of the 100+ thousand around you lol. (I use that analogy lightly, though. I get NO joy out of fans disliking something so it's probably a bad analogy to use, but you get the drift ;) )

That said, celebrating with 100+ thousand of your own people is the biggest high ever. I can only hope we can all celebrate our love for JL and the future DCEU altogether.

I wouldn't mind if Vaughn ended up doing SS2.

Kick Ass 2.0. Let Katana rip.

Katana could have been the best thing to happen to SSQUAD in the sea of great characters the movie did happen to hit on. In a slew of bad decisions by Ayer, minimizing Katana ranks high as one of them.

As someone who spent the entire day yesterday being all PSYCHED AND HYPED about the trailer with handful of people yes I do know the feeling :funny: Also even if it's awful we will probably love it more than non-fans of something/someone love great movies

I was thinking of Hitgirl using her...katana =P and that was one of the best moment in the film, Katana totally need to get a proper arc in the next one

Mendelson: Was the filmed changed at all in the process after the reception of Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad? Did that affect your production at all?

Jenkins: No, it only bolstered what we were doing, because we were already doing this film. I didn't cut one scene in the movie from the final shooting script that we went in with, and so we were always making exactly this movie.

We trimmed scenes, but it was exactly this movie, it was exactly this tone. But I was so heartbroken for those movies, and those people are my friends, and I admire the work that they did, but I felt lucky that we just happened to be making something different enough that it didn't get jarred by that ride.

-------------

Nice to see Jenkins sticking up for the previous films, and also good to know that WB didnt do any reactionary BS with Wonder Woman. That could have hurt the movie.

I think Jenkins summed it up well. They are all different kind of movies, and her movie was more in line with what people wanted. So it landed the way the others didnt.

I also really liked her reply to all the sexism questions. She really has a way with words, and she is really really smart and understanding.

If they did, do you think she would say so?

I think much like Rian Johnson with Episode 9 Jenkins was simply lucky that what she was doing aligned with what the execs wanted

Thats true, but I dont think she is lying, I want to believe.

I think that Rian Johnson thing is true for most big blockbusters. All big studios, WB, Disney, Fox you name it. They are all about creative freedom...as long as your vision lines up with theirs. Which is twisted, but just the way it is.

Man, I think if SSquad had reached its potential and been the movie it was supposed to be, I think it would've made that extra $250M and scratched a billion. Could you guys imagine that? If that had happened? The sequel would probably be filming right now and Harley Quinn and Diana would be the official mascots of the DCEU.
