Warning - Dramatic Historian Outrage ahead!

I didn't see the film but I read the book - when I read the preface (quoting from memory so not completely accurate) 'The Vatican killed millions of women in 17th century Europe for witchcraft' I literally threw it at the wall in an expression of Dramatic Historian Outrage

Once I'd calmed down I read it, and although I admit that it was a rollicking good yarn, there is absolutely no historical truth in there whatsoever and it pains me to think that there are people who believe that this pseudo history nonsense is true.
