Wow. Well if he's doing this, maybe some A listers will muster some courage and follow him in a similar situation.

Bill Skarsgård man...Bill f****** Skarsgård.

I'll take it! Lol. Actually gaining a lot of excitement for this.

That's hardly the same. The Ancient One was deliberately changed to avoid negative stereotyping. The character was then made female to "compensate" for not going with the old Asian mystic trope. If Tilda said no, they would've found another white actress for the role because they purposely didn't want the character to be Asian.

That was always silly to me. They could've just cast an Asian actor and not written him/her to be a stereotype. Tilda was just white woman playing an Asian stereotype. But whatevs, wasted talent either way on that movie.

Just one, is it scary?

I hated clowns before and I hate clowns now.

how faithful to the books?

Ahhh I'm the wrong guy for that one. I haven't read the book. I own it too, but never got around to it. I think some of the early reactions noted it was pretty faithful though.

I guess but at least they can say their intentions were noble.

That's what I wanna hear. :woot:

Emilia Clarke does nothing for me without that silver hair.

Hmmm.

We all have our kink, I suppose.

The Night King maintaining his resting ***** face while riding a dragon was hilarious though.

Ugh I cannot wait for IT. It sucks ass though because all my friends who love scary movies have gone to live somewhere else. So i may have to see it alone....which sounds awful

I would say The Ancient One was changed because the character is a Tibetan, and Marvel wanted to eliminate any risk of pissing off the communist party that they changed the character, I suspected that's the case because a lot of businessmen/celebrities from my country does that to keep doing business with them.

I just found this

Tilda Swinton cast as Tibetan character to avoid offending Chinese

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/29/world/asia/doctor-strange-tilda-swinton-china-tibet.html?mcubz=3

C. Robert Cargill, the main screenwriter, said that the film’s producers had deliberately cast a Westerner in the character of the Ancient One to avoid offending the Chinese

Oh snap! Who knew Bryan Singer was directing Ant-man and The Wasp

You know Disney wants that China money, so that's probably true.

They totally do, they chucked in Fan Bing Bing in Iron Man 3 and marketed in China as if she has an important role in the movie, then their audience ended up with Grey's Anatomy preview

In Dr Wu's office, you can see Tony's Iron Man on a TV screen, surrounded by Chinese children and what looks like... Dr Wu. The good doctor then calls Tony, but J.A.R.V.I.S., the A.I. butler, answers. It's worth noting that in even in the subtitled version, there are no subtitles in this sequence; J.A.R.V.I.S. speaks in Mandarin Chinese. While speaking with J.A.R.V.I.S., Dr Wu actually says in Chinese, "Tony doesn't have to do this alone — China can help."

There's also this extra long shot of Dr Wu awkwardly pouring a glass of Yili brand Chinese milk. But it's pure product placement. Before the movie starts, there are two China specific ads: One of them is a Chinese milk commercial that, as The Hollywood Reporter points out, asks, "What does Iron Man rely on to revitalize his energy?" (The answer is a Yili milk drink.) The second commercial is for a Chinese manufacturer of tractors and cranes.

Even Fox did a better job of using her as Blink in DOFP to utilize her talent and please the Chinese audiences.

Oh right, I forgot about that. And WB doesn't give two s***s about that. Didn't get it for SS or TDK.

Toughen up, princess. :oldrazz:

Yes, Nolan stood his ground and refused to cut out his Chin Han scenes so TDK wasn't released there. Although he apparently cut out Edison Chen's interaction at the airport when he greeted Lucius Fox in Hong Kong, but I'm not sure if it's s*** acting, plot reasons or he was entangled in a "scandal" where his computer got hacked by the repair operators and they leaked a dozen of his sex tape/photos with other celebrities, he'd probably have been hailed as a hero in 2017.

SS rwas banned because of anti-social reasons I think, though they banned Despicable Me 1 and 2, Minions, but allowed Despicable Me 3 this year, and I'm sure Fast and Furious is not very social-social :oldrazz:

Other rumored reasons for the SS ban were supernatural reasons, but they're about to release the Chinese version of The Grudge (http://baby.bao-jian.net/ertong-hxxavhebcaxjhjjabjv.htm graphic-ish photos, be warned); and Katana has a huge a$$ Japan flag on her mask, and I think that's the real reason behind the ban.

You get to watch anti-Japanese WWII dramas ranging from documentary, fantasy, spy, comedy to romance in dozens (no kidding) of channels between 8-10pm everyday (at least was the case a year ago)
