I find the 's' word to be very problematic

might have to take some time off after the word was unleashed like that. Farewell for now, all.

Best thing that ever happened on twitter. Cannot be topped.

This one is perfect. The number of randos I see angrily tweeting at reviewers even years after the fact is always ridiculous.

And the first look at the Aquaman prequel.

What drugs is Sneider on? Just so everyone out there knows what NOT to take

jokes, stupid? a stunning revelation!

find out more at 11.

Don't sell this joke so short. Not only is it incredibly stupid, it also trivializes the seriously terrible nature of what Gunn did and what his supporters have been supporting -- support that has already gone beyond what Snyder Cut fans did. It's a monumental mess where "humor" is concerned, in my opinion. But, everyone's taste is different, so enjoy it and defend it if you must. I've said my piece.

Truth. To be honest, sometimes it seems like what the Twitter "verified" users (those with blue checkmarks) say and how they engage with fans is often worse than what fans do. This is a great example of that.

Not really. Some "Snyder fans" sent people death threats.

I'm pretty sure some of those BVS character portraits were never released? I need them.

I've seen similar from both sides, but one would hope "professionals" would hold themselves to a higher standard and lead by example. A verified once implied a friend of mine should essentially kill herself after she tried to explain how BvS helped her through the death of a friend. It was after the conversation, in a subtweet or separate tweet, that the person said something like, "People who defend this stuff don't deserve to live" or something close to that. It was years ago, but it was awful.

Its just sad on both parts. Some of these bloggers purposefully fan the flames and incite controversy, and some stupid "fans" engage and make things more ugly. Then someone or the other plays the victim card. Rinse and repeat. Like getting death threats has become so trivialised! Like I got death threats because I said I liked BvS on r/movies. At Dragon Con last year people said on stage that they should find people who like BvS and beat them in the parking lot.

So yeah, things get real ugly, real quick. And sadly its not just online. All over CBMs.

The last 3 films I saw? Conjuring, Conjuring 2, Hereditary
Last show I saw? The Sinner
Last thing I read? Hold the Dark script

All of it during the last 5 days. Me rn:

It's such a shame, really. I'm sorry you were on the receiving end of some of that ugliness, and, wow, I hadn't heard of the Dragon Con incident. That sounds awful.

Trash King is back now.

Also got my first PM informing me I am on a blocklist now. I've finally made it, folks!

Ehh, its okay in my case, those were just keyboard warriors. But I really feel for Rebecca.

I had the same problem. I find everyone else more interesting than the hero.

I like his partner, the one with the quiet kid. The main dude started off well and I liked how he was getting into this whole thing but the whole subplot with the girlfriend just sucked the entire potential out of his arc. Also that whole sending the tape to get them into trouble subplot was so stupid and a waste of time

This joke falls flat because it lacks self-awareness. As if the bloggers and critics haven't themselves been ragging on BvS for years since its release, including in the reviews of completely unrelated film projects. Do these people expect their obsessive attacks on BvS to change the minds of BvS fans? Don't you think it's worse when it's not "randos" tweeting reviewers but reviewers themselves creating entire clickbait articles to go after fans? Fans are fans. Critics and bloggers should at least assume a position of professionalism and integrity.

Few things on the hype will ever be funnier to me than watching misslane explain why things supposedly aren't funny.

No, not really. Mostly because I've rarely seen anyone actually go after fans. Saying that I think Attack of the Clones is a terrible movie is not an attack on the fans, nor is unfavorably contrasting it with a better, similar movie. And when I do see direct jokes or digs at the fanbase, it's usually for stuff that's actually well deserved. It's no worse than the stuff that gets said about toxic elements of Star Wars fandom; that's just where we are today. If they're actively goading the fans and attacking them over nothing, that's a dick move. If it's simply making a joke about thinking a movie some of those fans like isn't very good, then people need to learn to control themselves.

That's a major problem with fan culture these days. People now equate differing opinions on their favorite things as a personal attack on themselves.

That Lex one tho :ilv:

These kind of people are nothing but ****, absolutely nothing more, and they call themselves comic book/superhero fans, right?? I can't for the life of me figure out how incredibly dense you have to be to not realize that you represent everything your "hero" stand against....smh.

I would really love to be there, right next to these guys when they say something like that and be like "well, here I am" and see them shrivel and **** their pants immediately, not because I'm like a tough guy or anything, but because this is the kind of people....bullies, ya know?

EDIT: I think you're mistaken Sen. Finch for Lex tho... :oldrazz:

You misunderstand me. I'm not just talking about critics and bloggers going after fans, which they relentlessly do whether you have noticed it or not, it's about the bloggers and critics doing the exact same thing fans are doing yet see fit to exculpate themselves as part of the problem. While the same fan may obsessively tweet the same critic for years without convincing him or her that BvS is a masterpiece, the same critic is one who obsessively tweets or writes negative articles about BvS years after its release. Why is one of these people deserving of mockery while the other is not?

I'm sorry, MbJ. It makes no sense for critics and bloggers to continue talking about BvS daily, weekly, and monthly two years after its release. It goes beyond anything I have ever seen from professionals. A comment here and there? Sure, why not? No problem. But it's not just a comment here and there. It's a tweet a week or a throwaway comment in a review of a new released film not even in the same genre. And if it's not going back to the well of BvS bashing, then its fan bashing. Like ignoring fan efforts to raise money for kids to see Black Panther in favor painting all Snyder fans as sexist, racist, MAGA Nazis.

There is a problem with fan culture, but it goes both ways. The joke doesn't work for me because it reeks of hypocrisy.

I would really love to be there, right next to these guys when they say something like that and be like "well, here I am" and see them shrivel and **** their pants immediately, not because I'm like a tough guy or anything, but because this is the kind of people....bullies, ya know?

Calling them bullies is spot on. Everything from tweets, comments at conventions, to so-called jokes can be used to belittle and bully people, and it's not cool.
