Fun show. Wish it lasted longer.

Mmmm...well, I personally found pretty much all of the characters across the different stories to be pretty engaging (some more than others of course, but still), I felt that the last segment had the characters actually verbalizing the themes shown in the previous segments, and...
...since I feel that segment wasn't really about bounty hunters, but about "reapers" (I guess) taking souls to the underworld, I loved the "ethereal" vibe and moodiness of the cinematography.
Maybe the actors are to blame, even though I normally love Brendan Gleeson. But the characters on the whole were just kinda flat compared to the ones in the preceding films, imo.

Guessing it didn't sell enough Toys. That's why Cartoon Network cancelled Young Justice

CN scheduled it poorly to begin with. It was on like 7 AM in the morning. I'd heard some speculate that the network is trying to avoid licensed properties now since they haven't really been treating any of them well.

I freaking love Cavill in the role, but I’d accept James Wolk as a replacement. Similar age range so they could keep it in continuity. Saw him mentioned in the bruce Wayne casting thread on the Batman boards as a Supes replacement. Liked him a lot on Mad Men.

Bob Benson as Superman?

He reminds me a lot of Routh, but I could get on board with it I guess.

Jesus Christ.

My reaction through out most of the film:

I have seen some real messed up things when it comes to foreign films and real obscure stuff. I have no problem with most violence on film, it doesn't need to have any meaning behind it either. I have seen ALL of Lars Von Trier films, but they still don't make you prepared for this. I don't think this film will be available for wide release here anytime soon, but there is a crisp bootleg out there, if you know where to look, that is how I watched this. I know to always sit through a Lars Von Trier film on an empty stomach, and this was not the exception. There is brutal violence done on children and animals, he makes you watch like you're there, it feels real. Also, spoiler alert, the title of the film ain't a goddamn metaphor. I have not looked away at violent scenes in what feels like forever till I watched this. I legit had to close my eyes during a scene, I just didn't want to look. Having said all that, the first hour of this movie is the best hour of any film i've seen this year so far, which makes the next hour and a half so goddamn frustrating to watch. The last part is just Lars bathing in his own ego and HE KNOWS YOU THE AUDIENCE are going to hate him for making you watch the brutality and nonesense monologues that follow. This kinda felt like you was watching the director jerk himself off, and he is making eye contact with you all through out, but you can't look away because he won't let you. Matt Dillion deserves an oscar nomination for the first hour alone tho, but it will never happen. I'm also confused as to why Uma Thurman shows up in this only to be used as a prop that ends in brutal violence. I DO NOT recommend this film for the Lars Von Trier uninitiated, and even then, it is a tough sit. Still, I can't give it a bad review based on the first hour alone. 7/10

Just saw The Favourite. Loved it. I REALLY wonder how they're gonna submit these actresses for the Oscar because all 3 ladies are leads to me. But whatever category Olivia Colman ends up in, she deserves to win, imo.

As someone who likes period films and history (even had it as part of my undergrad work) and someone who has adored Olivia Colman since seeing her in Broadchurch, this film has been a must see for me for awhile. I'm so glad that you liked it. I'm even more excited to see it now!

 Hope you enjoy it too!

Just saw a TV spot for Welcome to Marwen. I'm sick of seeing Steve Carell in all these sad, sentimental movies. I get that he wants to be known as a serious actor, but he has the same style of line deliveries in all these movies and it's getting seriously monotonous. I think his ~Serious Actor~ career peaked with Foxcatcher.

Summoning Lo-iz.

Oh, that was just my flippant way of saying that MissLane doesn't post here all that often (I think it was you who pointed out that she's one of three female posters who frequent these parts, the other two being Flickchick and Harle respectively), and when she does, it's usually to refute something having to do with BvS or MoS. I didn't mean any offense, however, as I both respect MissLane and have also defended said films myself at one time or another.

Watched Signs for the first time in 15 years. Movie is dumb AF. I love how these aliens' plan was to invade a planet that is predominantly water which is also their weakness.

As Tony Stark would say, "Not a great plan."

I remember hearing this complaint when it came out, and it never really bothered me. I guess because if I were to reverse the scenario, and resources my people desperately needed were on a planet that was otherwise covered in 70% molten lava or poisonous gas or something, I'd still believe if was worth going if options were sufficiently limited. If they were even here for resources, that is.

I haven't seen it in at least 10 years, though, so I'm not necessarily denying it's dumb AF, lol.

I love signs

That scene where they’re all at the table eating and Mel refuses to pray over the food, so good man. One of my favorite scenes ever.

I think it’s speculated that the aliens were demons and that they were weakened by the water because it was blessed.

No, I got that it was meant as a joke. Addressing the content and aim of a joke doesn't mean I don't recognize an attempt at humor. Joking at my expense by describing me as something out of a horror story isn't cool in general and is silly given how one has to twist the truth to even force it to make any sense.

I'm just reading this now, so apologies for the late response. For the record, I too realized that my joke carried a somewhat negative connotation, the horror-tinged element you mentioned to be precise. I even sought to mitigate/change that particular aspect about it by removing a reference to the film Candyman that was originally part of the post. Anyway, as stated above, my intent wasn't to offend you or anyone else for that matter. If I did, I again sincerely apologize.
