I mean if DC continues to get wins like this...first Wonder Woman and now Aquaman it makes me wonder if Shazam will be as good as both films? I wonder if Shazam will have a high RT score or if critics don't bash Shazam...I mean with Aquaman it mostly has been positive reviews all be it there have been mixed reviews here and there but Aquaman is set to make a lot of money hell it has made or is on point to make more money than BVS and JL combined and that is saying something

Regarding Shazam!, really fascinated by New Line finally doing a cbm in 10+ years.

I think if you’re a fan of the early DCEU stuff, especially the first two films, it makes sense why you wouldn’t enjoy Aquaman. I totally understand. And That’s okay.

All I know is that I loved it, a lot of people around the world really liked it and simply based off of the box office numbers, we can expect to see more of these kinds of movies in the future.

i don't know man...going as far as worse than JL and SS...now my interest is peaked in how that's possible :p

Yeah, I thought for sure the intense hatred for joss as well as all the Snyder movie jazz would keep JL at the top of most hated lists.

But Aquaman definitely felt like distanced itself moreso from previous films than any others, so perhaps that played a role too.

I am a fan of every movie in the DCEU

Man of Steel (1st film in the universe) was a true Superman origin film; could it have been better? Yes it could have been but it was a good way to start the universe off as a foundation type film; it wasn't great...it was just good

BVS (2nd film in the universe) left a lot to be desired because it could have been a great film; the only good thing probably about it was seeing Wonder Woman for the first time but Lex Luthor was underwhelming because had they cast someone else believable and more ruthless more evil and cunning in the role then I could have gotten behind it or the fact that they used Doomsday which totally killed it for me but it was a good platform to introduce Cyborg, Aquaman and The Flash

Suicide Squad (3rd film in the universe) another film that left a lot to be desired because it could have been great if we had seen more of The Joker but also focus more on the Squad's origins individually and why they became the people they are; but also if they had really played the film to show the true nature of Joker and Harley's relationship rather than making it a sick, twisted love story then people wouldn't have crapped all over it but I will say SS was a good film...not great just ordinary

Wonder Woman (4th film in the universe)...what more could you say about it? It was awesome

Justice League (5th film in the universe)...it was a good film...it could have been great or even better had they introduced other heroes as well in this film such as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern or John Stewart's Green Lantern and maybe throwing in Green Arrow & Black Canary as League members would have made the film all that much more enjoyable but also not focusing so much on CGI but also going into more detail about the League's origins as individual people individually but also using Steppenwolf...should have never have happened. Other than that JL was good...just good.

Aquaman (6th film in the universe)...people are raving about it and I haven't even seen it yet but reviews have been positive and the clips I have seen so far on Youtube that they have released when it comes to this film is just hyping me up more when it comes out on Friday but people are loving Momoa and Heard but also Black Manta and Orm...this movie is like the ocean version of Thor almost if you can believe it or not

Which is why I can't wait until the 7th film in the universe that being Shazam comes out in March

The posts here talking about how Aquaman acknowledges the Snyder Cut as canon and vindicated it were as I expected, very overblown. The Aquaman movie is very standalone in its continuity, which I appreciated.

I’m not aware of anyone who loves all of em, usually it’s very cut and dry in terms of who enjoys which era of DCEU filmmaking, so good on you for that.

I'm a big fan of MOS and BVS, they really spoke to me. I liked Wonder Woman, not as much as a lot of people did, but it was well done and ad something to say.
SS was flawed, but has some things going for it, a lot of the scenes in the film work well on their own, I liked Letos Joker.
JL, for all the problems I had with the film, wasn't all bad, I even liked a couple of Whedons scenes.
Aquaman, I found myself groaning at bad lines all the way through.
JL and Aquaman might be tied for my least favourite DCEU film, but I left JL wishing there had been more, I left Aquaman wishing there had been less.

ok, that makes sense

If anything BVS was way more flawed than Suicide Squad because both films were just that bad...if I had a choice between watching either film I would watch Suicide Squad over BVS any day because BVS just flat out sucked. Suicide Squad for me could have been much better but for BVS it definitely reeks of flaws all around it. Justice League actually was a good film despite the universal hatred for it; the only thing that I think did JL in was the CGI. I mean if they had used less of that but also used a much more menacing villain and told a better story then I think JL would probably have been more loved. I mean JL had some things going for it but had they included other heroes within the League too in terms of other Leaguers we haven't seen such as GL, Green Arrow, Manhunter to join the team in the film then I think it could have been better. Aquaman is actually tons better than Wonder Woman and that's saying a lot and I haven't even watched Aquaman yet. What I have been hearing but also clips of the film I have already seen is exactly why I think Aquaman may just in fact be the best film in this universe right now bar none.

F**k, this sounds awfully close to MCU-all-over-again. More so when @Aurakles did not like it. Wonder Woman was rather mediocre and people praised that film to heavens, I'm getting some very unpleasant déjà vu from all of this. A colourful funny actiony crowd-pleaser with meh script that makes big buck so we can get another ones of such ilk for next 10 years.

I hope I'll like Aquaman, but if its trailers are any indication of what that film is like...

Yeah, I don’t think you’re going to like it, dude. Would still see it just for the Atlantis stuff, which was visually stunning.

Fans shouldn't be so fickle. You don't need to draw the line in the sand and like only ONE THING. I'm a fan of Snyder's films, but I'm all for Wan's approach to a character like Aquaman. I welcome banter, humor and ambitious visuals. I just hate watching the same formulaic flick over and over and over again. Gets stale for me. Glad DC will bring many flavors to the overall DCU.

Aquaman's definitely my second favorite after WW.

Mortal Engines

I enjoyed the hell out of this. Also, had the theater pretty much to ourselves. Some of the symbolic message in this can be a bit too much on the nose, but the action set pieces were aces. I don't think I'll watch it again tho, but it is a must on the big screen. The lead gal was pretty damn good I also drank about two redbulls before the flick so I was good to go. 8/10

The current 28% RT for this is a goddamn joke.

From the mastermind of True Detective ( Nic Pizzolatto) comes this western of sorts. The lovely french Melanie Laurent directed the hell out of this. I have not seen her first directed movie, but I will seek it out now. Goddamn. This felt like it was directed by a seasoned vet.I kinda want her to direct a full out western now. The action moments are shot and directed great. Another win for women directors. Ben Foster and Elle Fanning have great chemistry together. If I were a director, Ben Foster would be my go to dude, he seems game for anything. 8.5/10

Im a huge Zack Snyder fan. I LOVE Man of Steel and BvS even acknowledging the flaws in both films and why they didnt reach a wider audience. I still hold both films in HIGH regard. With that said, Aquaman just might have supplanted both as my favorite DCEU movie just because of the pumped up, happy feeling the movie leaves you off on.

I also like both Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. I dont quite love WW the same way others do though. For me something was...missing in WW for it to feel like the pure visceral blast Aquaman was.

Agreed with all this.

One thing the DCEU has been so far is varied, I'd even argue that BvS doesn't really feel like MOS and they're the two that's most closely associated with each other. I like the MCU but I don't revisit those films often because of exactly what you spoke of, they're formulaic. Why is why I compare them often to McDonalds, a McDs is nice it tastes good but it's not gonna leave any last impact on your mind.

In any case I'm not trying to start a DCEU vs MCU war, I'm just explaining that I prefer variety in my films. I hope the DCEU films continue to mix things up, infact I would say already Shazam looks like a different style of film to Aquaman. Also WW84 will no doubt feel different too and Birds of Prey is sure to be something unique.

You know we all (deservedly) gave Warner Bros a LOT of s*** the past year for how they handled Justice League. But I gotta admit Im glad they left Wan alone for this and allowed him to make this movie. You wouldn't see this kind of movie be made at Marvel, and that not a diss, its simply a fact because of the long term structure of Marvel's overall plan. Let Marvel continue to do that and let WB have creators go wild with their movies.

WB also did a beautiful job with marketing. I can barely catch up with all the cast appearances on talk shows

They did, although after watching the movie, I gotta wonder about the budget. This thing HAD to have cost at least as much as Man of Steel.

As long they continue to do so, that's fine, even when they come (eventually) back to Superman, let whoever is directing the next S-Man, they're own space & edit to give what they want, not interfere & dictate & cut 30 mins here or entire footage out (Snyder), if they have a new 'confidence' from Aquaman, then wonderful, but don't be having two steps forward and one back routine because of it.
