Has anyone seen Bird Box on Netflix yet? Might watch it tonight.

Saw Aquaman tonight. They did a really good job.

Any thoughts that they are Marvelizing the DCEU is false. Obviously this wasn't a Snyder movie, but this still felt like a DC movie. Big, bold with the designs, good score (I was surprised by that), and quite a bit of fun. While there was certainly plenty of humor, rarely did it come at the expense of the drama or heart (big plus for me). The audience was clapping at the end which I was surprised by.

I didn't care for the score, but I agree with everything else.

A Simple Favor

Trashier and funny version of Gone Girl. Eh, this is the type of plot and film that one will enjoy if they ain't busy calling out them plotholes, and just have a good time with it. A lot more dark comedic tone than I was anticipating. Kendrick does her shtick well, but the best performance goes to Blake Lively. She gave me some Selina Kyle vibes. She would look great in the catsuit. Henry Golding reminds me of Cary Grant, but with no acting range. The twists are soap opera level bad, but i dug the movie. 7/10

A Simple Favor really surprised me. Especially Blake Lively. It was a hoot.

Aquaman's pretty much the best DCEU movie to date, comparable to MoS (ymmv). Went in with lower expectations than most, due to the cringey as hell trailer dialogues, but was thoroughly impressed with everything. I got my fix of kaiju's, romance, and cape porn. No one does cape porn like DC. This was probably also the most comic book-y film out of everything DC and Marvel so far.

That titans finale, I enjoyed myself so much

And oh my sweet god that post credit, it was too much for one sitting
Can't wait for it to release here. How many episodes was the season?

I saw Bumblebee earlier today. Really enjoyed it. Charming and very Amblin-esque as some reviewers described.

one audience clapped (which's amazing here) when
I enjoyed the score and the recognizable fights, and the humor =)

Saw Bumblebee today, asked my 3 year old daughter if she remembered the plot - her summary was

"Du-du (car) changed into Bumblebee, stick on Bumblebee's butt" (with hand gesture)

Later in the bath she asked why we like stuff or something, wife said we can like for no reasons, she said "(like) I like Bumblebee"

Therefore an A+ from me =D

Anyway the score was cool, action was clear due to the nature/size of the movie, a pretty straight forward story, good lead and support, and I wanted to make love to Christina Hodgson's name on the big screen then I remembered my daughter was sitting on my lap =P

DAT Titans finale.... :hmr:

I love that they're taking the long term approach with their storytelling.

I wasn't particularly crazy about what we could see of the Batman suit...I think it's because now I'm used to and my personal preference is the bigger, sturdier, Miller-esque, Beastfleck figure and this one reminded me a bit of Kilmer shape wise (although I think they were going for the Arkham look), but all around it was awesome!! Oh, and that post-credit scene....I didn't expect it!! :hmr:

It's like people think MCU invented humor. That was typical action adventure humor, like in Indiana Jones

And the thing with Aquaman is that despute the humor and light tone it still takes its story and mythology seriously, you know? I felt that it never broke the tension or drama for quips like Ragnarok for example which seemed intent on constantly telling the audience "dont take any of this silly comic book s*** seriously."

And, you know, i think the lack of that irreverant, self aware, self deprecating humor that Joss Whedon popularized is maybe why some critics were sour on the movie. They felt that we shouldnt be expected to take all this "ONE TRUE KING OF THE OCEAN" stuff seriously.

Surprised me also. Saw it this week. Was pretty much a Gossip Girl sequel with Blake Lively's character living even more fast and loose. Love Blake Lively, wish she had been cast in BOP or hopefully something down the line.

Yes! That's why these fools keep ranting about the film being 'inconsistent'. Just because Arthur is involved in serious situation doesn't mean he will immediately start being super serious person so we have that hilarious exchange with him and Mera as they are escaping from Orm. In MCU during Atlanna's fight there would be some quip but it didn't happen here because we were watching a woman desperately trying to protect her loved ones.

Titans S1 finale credit scene...
200w.gif

Kon and Krypto!
Finally we get a good boi that could be all heroic and not makes us worried about his safety or fatal wound that much... in live action!
I remember several members talked about live action Krypto just few weeks ago!

The truth about Kon's biological parents information could leads to interesting scene.
'Wait, how? Did Luthor knocked up...'

Several weeks ago some of us talked about it and now that credit scene happened.
And maybe we supposed to joke about something too. The last time we joked about Alfred solo we got a solo series out of it. :funny:

My problem with the humor in Aquaman is that it felt like Awesome-o from the South Park episode wrote the jokes. The banter was extremely cookie cutter and could have been written for any other movie.

Plus what the hell was up with some of those music choices? It felt like Wan thought he was making a 90's movie with some of those misplaced songs.
