I like your idea of pulling up to J.J's front porch with a truck full of cash.[/QUOTE]

I think Superman had a billion dollar movie thats waiting to be made though. I agree with @Black Narcissus that there are other characters who have taken precedent over him the past decade, but i firmly believe that there is a Superman movie out there, one thats the perfect mix of Donner, Singer and Snyder that will break the box office wide open and make Superman a phenomenon again. A movie that makes Superman both warm and charming but also a serious badass with a good story, badass villain (Braniac), romance, incredible spectacle and an action packed crowd pleasing 3 rd act. It can be done, its just waiting to happen.

The next version of film Lex needs to be one of them pretty mf actors like Gosling. Audience need to be able to hate him but also like him. My version of Lex is smooth af. Basically a toned down version of Ozymandias played by Ryan Gosling. lol

Finding the perfect director will be difficult, no matter how many times we bring up A level directors. When even them Russo brothers who just finished their epic, and who juggled a talking raccoon and all sorts of overpowered characters, even they themselves name dropped Supes as being too powerful and don't know how to make his movie. I think Vaughn can make a well liked Superman movie, but not a billion dollar one at that. He takes even weirder and I'd say darker chances than Snyder, but that is a different story.

I really think my man Goose will resist the CBM wave

I’ve been dying to see him dip his feet in the pool so hopefully he changes his mind some day.

I think Vaughn would tone it down for Superman like he did with First Class. He might actually play it safe and vanilla considering how he talks about the character.

People are overthinking Superman. Snyder almost had it, i would say he was 75% of the way there but his films were a little too emotionally sterile for mass audiences. They need a director who can direct some bombastic kickass action like Zack and get some emotional feels in like Donner. And they need a Superman who can be warm and charming while not being a pushover.

He allegedly passed on both Joker versions tho. lol
I remember him being offered suicide squad way back, but did they really offer Todd Phillips’ Joker to Gosling first as well? I thought it was Joaquin or no one.

And I was just thinking that if they were ever gonna get him for something, it would have to be a one off movie like Joker, but if they offered him that and he said no, it’ll never happen.

No neck snap. Zod goes through that lame phantom zone thing. A sunny sky while Lois and Supes kiss.

Nah, I respect the neck snap thing too much.

:D:

Even after all these attempts, the Superman mythos remain untapped. Do you realize how significant of a statement that is?

The character has so many layered angles where a director that won't be scared to open pandora's box to the magnificence the character brings to table can make the difference. The past few movie attempts (that includes SR) focused on a mindset where Clark questioned his place as Superman where he was mentally distraught enough to turn the audience off in one instance or another. When you're misfiring on character essence, said-character will suffer. Superman is no different. Give him the appropriate TLC, cast an actor with charm and have a controlled sense of direction that captures who Superman is with the character LOVING what he does then audiences will follow. There's absolutely no reason to think the Superman character can't do it. That losing mentality MUST change for the studio. Commit to something GREAT and have the character let loose and simply take off. No angst. All wonder and joy.

I guess this is DC’s stab at “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Orion being Star Lord, and we get a cameo appearance from Darkseid. Doesnt sound appealing to me but hey, then again, I woulda told you 5 years ago GoTG was gonna flop too so who knows lol
GOTG came after Avengers 1 blew up and made the MCU brand a global phenom in the process

New Gods has no hook. Unless the budget is low ala Shazam it's going to flop

not buying into this, but I wouldn't necessarily oppose it.... use Bob Pattinson and Reeves' Batman as the launching point for a new interconnected universe, I think I'd be down especially if Cavill ain't coming back.

I mean, it makes sense. It's like a do-over where they try to hew closer to the Marvel formula this time by establishing franchises first before interconnecting them. And they'll just wait to introduce their Aquaman/WW until Gal and Jason's incarnations are done. Could work...

....but not without Supes. :argh:

Don't know if that will work out well. People gonna have to go through all the outrage witg new casting again. Aquaman was fresh and first outing, Jason got it easy and made his mark. Still we went through thats not muh aquaman, same was with Wonder Woman.

But they got accepted and their films were as big as they get. I would think it would be easier to move on and pretend nothing changed with Bat anf Supe. At least you have a foundation.

Restarting means, opposition with casting, no guarantee with the films quality. Is WB willing to risk the little good will they still have?

I hope to god thay joker and BoP are good.

Ya you have at least 3 popular actors established already and they're all the first incarnation (like the cinematic Keaton, Carter, Reeves etc), why'd you finish them off and cast new ones, get compared and hated on initially, AND you still don't know if the newbies will have success as good as the previous 3?

It's such a low risk play if they stick with the established 3 characters, e.g. the actress/director that made the 1st ever WW and beloved superheroine film, the actor that stunned the world and made the joke character into a billion dollar franchise etc.....team them up with hopefully the successful Pattinson, new Batgirl, Supergirl etc....

IDW if it's true or not, but WW84 allegedly has some ramification to the universe...maybe that could be their play to ensure the pathway to their Endgame in 5-10 years??

The general audience really really don't give a F about continuity, Marvel changed Hulk, who cared? Get JJ to make a billion dollar Superman movie, everyone will be like F Cavill and let's team him up with RP and Gal etc....

X-men did fine they didn't need to recast Hugh Jackman to align the universe etc...

I haven't read the source but I guess this is from Mark Hughes? He still added the "everything's evolving" line to keep the door open and prevent a blow up Umberto style

Sounds overly complicated to me. Just use time travel or Lazarus Pit to bring young Bats into the fold. The separate universe thing is dumb to me.

That sounds more complicated to me, lol.

There shouldn't have to be an in-story reason Batman is young, imo. He's just young in this version, simple as that. It's gonna CLEARLY be a different Batman, because Matt Reeves ain't Zack Snyder by a long shot. People aren't gonna be going, "why isn't he Ben Affleck's age?" The audience isn't as stupid as people like to let on. It's just a different Batman. No need over-complicate it with plot shenanigans to unnecessarily explain the obvious. They're not trying to tie the two Jokers together, after all, and those will be going at the same time. Batfleck's done. Cut the ties and move on.

The separate universes thing takes zero stretching or complications to achieve. Just don't talk about the other franchises in your films. Boom, done.

I definitely don’t think this Batman is supposed to end up as the older one we saw in BvS

Gonna be real fascinating how they handle him and potentially recasting Superman in the future. Or even if Bob Pattinson is in event/team up films, because the trades have only mentioned a bat trilogy.

I hope answers are on the way, because going from old Batman to younger Batman doesn’t really make for a smooth transition if the new guy is intended to be in the universe. Well, for people who follow this stuff online and obsess over every detail at least, lol.

Only bummer for me is that I think Henry Cavill would've looked more appropriate as Supes next to Battinson than he did to Batfleck. They're closer in height and age and would seem more like peers/equals. Oh well.
