Lounge of Justice - Part 90

You know, I’ll never be able to understand Nolan’s logic behind this creative decision.

Everything up to this point is totally fine. A bank manager going for his gun to try and prevent a major robbery in his place of commerce is a bold and heroic choice. But to have the manager do this dance after shooting at the robbers? Was he trying to convey his dominance? It’s hubris in its ugliest form. It doesn’t fit the scene in any capacity. Truly a jarring creative choice. Classic case of a minor character in a Nolan movie displaying an outrageous level of response.

He wasn't trying to be heroic, he's a dealer in a mob bank who protects mob interest, and failed.

BumbleBee's Cybertron part was great tho. The G1 Autobots designs were awesome. Why animation then?? Is this the end of Bayformers :(

Well yeah, it was directed by the guy who did Kubo and the Two Strings.

I wonder if they actually asked him to do this prequel before giving it to Cooley.

Oh damn, I forgot he's the Laika guy.

He has tried to keep his hands full tho so maybe he declined. I mean he is supposed to do the Six Billion Dollar Man movie for WB and he worked on and then left the Uncharted movie for Sony. I guess he just wants to do live action movies these days.

Yeah. He's clearly on the mob's payroll. You can tell because he starts yelling at the thugs in a stereotypical "mob accent" and makes the speech about how criminals used to believe in things.

He's apparently secretly a mob contact embedded at the bank, hence the "Clark Kent" moment where he removes his glasses (I guess so his shooting will be worse?) and transforms into an enforcer and shoots out his office window (representing the shattering of the illusion of his normal existence?)

Anyway you slice it, it's just so dumb.

Is this a joke going over my head? Didn't that moment occur right after he got shot by the Joker?

He wasn't dancing...

lol do mob banks actually exist in real life?

and have they ever?

or are they just so sly about it we have no evidence of their existence??

i also like how they left joker's backstory a mystery in the dark knight...like his original appearance in 1940 - they were sorta vague about it.

how does he have such extensive knowledge of the criminal underworld?
how is he so good at devising and executing these plans? and so good at using firearms?

was he a former mob associate? a former black-ops soldier who went rogue??

Oh they exist but they are just regular banks who have people payed off to look the other way.

Yeah the open ended nature of the character has only enhanced the rewatch experience. He left us just as mysterious as he came in.

I’ve always been fascinated by the theory that he was an ex-special forces guy who knew too much or suffered from some psychological breakdown. Fans get pretty creative sometimes.

oh yea that's what i thought too. which makes more sense.
i couldn't imagine a whole bank being some kind of front business for the mob though.

when he talks to harvey in the hospital and specifically brings up a car full of soldiers being blown up and people not caring made me think he's most likely some kind of ex-special forces.

and how pro he is at strategy and weapons adds to that.

i dont have a nintendo switch, but the street fighter 30th anniversary collection is making me consider it. lol

speaking of street fighter, assassin's fist was pretty great, but nothing has topped the animated movie yet as the best adaption. and that was 26 years go!

i been rewatching some of this cuz of shelter in place and forgotten how good it was.
that hand-drawn art and choreography!
