Lounge of Justice - Part 90

People ****ting on Leto like they wouldn't do the same. Imagine you do your job, then most of your performance is cut, the film's failure is blamed on you and on the heels of that studio gives an entire movie to another actor to lead with at the time Scorsese of all people attached to produce it. Like you wouldn't try to stop that lol

WB has completely destroyed his career. I'm not gonna defend the idiotic method actor antics but had the movie was actually good and he wasn't a glorified cameo no one would hold those crazy things against him. But they send him to promote, focused the marketing on the Joker, while failing to disclose how much they altered the movie. Leto's Oscar is well deserved, he is a good actor, and now he is laughing stock who will never recover from this.

Wait, was that confirmed? It always seemed like that were setting him up to be Bruce Wayne, then they just went in a completely weird direction with him.
It was confirmed they wanted him to be Bruce and written him that way at first but last minute decisions from up top changed that.

Ya'll seen this?

A GL show sounds too good to be true

Kyle is arguably the most underrated character in the GL franchise and if anyone deserves a chance to shine it's him, but I find this to be really questionable. Unless its HBO, GL simply can't be done justice on TV. I suppose he could be used as a guest character where he gets to do a few decent looking constructs here and there, but a show focused entirely on him just won't work on DCU or CW.

It's unfortunate, but I doubt it would be that detrimental to his career in the long run. Sucks that he had an uneventful turn as the most notorious villain of all time and the studio doing what they did with his role, but when it comes to the cbm market, if Morbius is successful I really don't think anybody would keep associating Leto with the Joker/SS fiasco. The audience tends to have a rather short attention span these days and an actor of Leto's caliber should be able to overcome a studio debacle like that which tends to happen quite often in that line of work.

It's probable that his career will pick up after this, even if it takes years to improve his image.
People can be too harsh sometimes.

I mean....Venom was a success because of how fun and campy Hardy was. Leto takes himself way too seriously to do that so I really don't think Morbius will be a success

But then again there's Tyrese and he for sure will go full on CAMP lol

It's unfortunate and kinda symptomatic of a lot of the problems the franchise has had. It's clear at some point WB thought this new Joker was gonna be huge and that there'd be huge spin-off potential and were then unprepared when that didn't turn out to be the reception the character actually got.

if WB really does announce DC programming that is much higher quality than CW stuff, then they will have my money, probably.

throw a bunch of cash behind a streaming universe that includes Titans, Doom Patrol and others, I'm totally there for that.

Same dude said Doom Patrol's budget is 11m+ per episode iirc

Is that enough to consistently show off a Green Lantern? I'll gladly take it tho. We all know that GL movie isn't happening

I would imagine the issue Leto had with JOKER would have had something to do with his contract/agreement in relation to it. There was probably something in his contract or at least the discussions he had about the role with WB related to portraying The Joker if there were spinoffs, solo films, in other DCEU films, etc. We heard rumors of a competing Joker solo movie in development, a Joker/Harley movie, etc. And to see them take such a large departure from that had to be upsetting. That's a lot of money left on the table.

I doubt it destroyed his career, though.

Blue Beetle and Green Lantern have enormous potential, but they wouldn't be cheap. Disney is going all out and spending a ton of money on the new shows like The Mandalorian, Ms. Marvel and the Falcon & Winter Soldier series, and I wonder if WB/HBO would be willing to take that kind of a plunge on the DC stuff.

I binged Titans S1 and what's been released of S2 recently, and while I more or less enjoyed it, you could definitely see the budget limitations.

I think you gotta save stuff like GL for the big screen, not to say it can’t work for the streaming platform but business wise it makes sense to keep the CG heavy stuff for the big screen where the heavy budgets reside

I saw an episode of Hawkeye will cost up to 25 mil.

What the hell is that money being spend on lol

Leto (just like Affleck) played iconic character so soon after Nolan's trilogy which did affect people's perceptions, they were not as open-minded, coupled with poor script (and some over the top acting) he got more hate than he deserved.

Still, I think he got that Morbius movie because his Joker was liked by some.

Well Morbius is Sony and they have no logic or reason so let's not get into why anyone was cast, they probably rolled the dice or something lol

Affleck didn't get hate for his portrayal, I'd say most people really enjoyed his Batman

Aladdin was great. I'm not going to see another one these disney live action remakes (of animated properties) but I'm glad I made an exception for Aladdin (0k, ngl that I'll see the sequel :p).

I should have never doubted my man Ritchie. I should probably give his King Arthur another chance. Maybe it'll grow on me :thf:

In any case, Aladdin was very enjoyable. Mena Massoud & Naomi Scott are both excellent in their roles. Big Willie goofs it up and it's a lotta fun.

Don't watch his King Arthur movie, man. Unless you are in the mood to watch something that will make you wanna die lol

Aladdin was cool but Cinderella is still their best out of cash grabs genre

@Micromind

I don't have exact figures or the rankings but Jokkernaut is among the highest grossing Hollywood movies ever in India (top 6-7 for the English version).

WB India didn't even bother with the dubbed versions, lmao. It would have dethroned Endgame had it been exposed to the sexually frustrated incels of rural India :p

I bet WB India were not expecting this kind of reception, lol.

I have seen Ritchie's King Arthur movie. I didn't like it back then. His signature fast cuts and quick editing didn't quite sit right with me and it seemed at odds with the period setting.

I also remember a lot of people praising the work of Daniel Pemberton for the music but I don't remember it being memorable. But I'm a fan of Ritchie's work so I gotta give the movie another try.

I take back what I said thinking of the wrong movie.
