Lounge of Justice - Part 90

HBO Max don't care about international fans so nothing changed here even after the announcements.:cmad:

Looks like HBO Max is going to need more (better) content in 2021 than just the Snyder Cut if they want to compete with what Disney Plus is offering.

Wonder who is next.
The fact that Matt Reeves hasn't joined them tells me that AT&T are not going to send his movie to streaming in 2022, unless pandemic worsens.

I think they want to get some new shows for HBO MAX, which would be enough to attract new subscribers in 2022.

Just read/watched all the Disney/Marvel/Star Wars announcements.

As if I needed more reasons to throw my money at them when Disney+ finally becomes available in my region.:o

If they care about the theatrical experience so much why not loan out some money to help theaters stay afloat? How about covering the cost of all the wasted marketing?

Oh right. They don't actually give a damn about that

Yeah, they're hiding behind "this is bad for audiences and the theatrical experience" rhetoric but all they care about is their money. Putting these movies on streaming and theaters at the same time is actually good for audiences, especially during a pandemic. These directors feel that a worldwide pandemic should not affect their bottom line at all. They want to keep making expesive movies but they also feel that studios should sit on these movies for another year just pissing off their shareholders. Personally I don't have much sympathy for filmmakers who already got paid millions upfront and are now whining that they might lose out on residuals. It'd be a different thing if everybody involved (e.g. the crew, VFX team etc.) with a movie was due some back end money but we all know only directors and big name stars get that.

Patty Jenkins can direct Star Wars since she got the offer, and I'm sure WB won't mind and let her direct her third Wonder Woman movie without making conditions hard for her or replace her with another director.

Like @Chip Chipperson said; it's Star Wars, no one would turn down the chance. Even I will jump for the chance to direct a Star Wars project if the offer came my way.

What will her story be about? More with Ray and that cast? I hope she is allowed to make something different instead, cause that side of things is too hot a mess for anyone to try and fix without making any part that came before it seem inert or more muddled and confusing.

It's Rogue Squadron. She said she wanted to make the ultimate fighter pilot movie. It'll probably be the Star Wars version of Top Gun. And that squadron's from the Age of Rebellion, so I don't see why Rey or anyone from the sequel trilogy would be involved.

It pleases me to know that, she can feel much more relaxed that way. I'd rather see directors and crew have more freedom and a relaxing work space and conditions. :yay:

That and Reeves isn't pedantic about streaming or theatre. He has two deals at HBO Max and at Netflix, remember.

I never thought I'd say this but the amount of SW and Marvel content coming our way feels too much.

Sums up how I'm starting to feel about Star Wars (and the MCU).

Just to clarify, I've absolutely loved the MCU so far but I'd hate for the quality to drop because of how much they're putting out there. And I also love the Mandalorian (it and TFA are so far the only good Disney era SW imo) so I'm open to all these new series. But this is absolutely a case of over-saturating the market.
