Lounge of Justice - Part 90

That was a cringy interview if i ever read one lol. A lot of excuses, not a lot of accountability....

Even if i agree with some of his JL choices....dude must know he's retiring and has zero Fs to give. Shame.

I was never really into Whedon's writing/shows/films and when all these allegations came out, I didn't really think about it because I didn't really think about Whedon in any way.

I read that interview for curiosity sake and wow, he sounds like the biggest privileged a-hole who hasn't learned a damn thing. I'm glad I was never a fan of his work to begin with, but hearing his own words is so damning. People thought this guy was a "god"? lol

Whedon really shoulda just took the L and shut his mouth on this. Once other former cast members from his shows started coming forward with other stories his goose was cooked.

As someone who never liked Whedon I'm fine with him making his career even worse...

Pretty much yeah.
But i guess he is just too much of a narcissist for that...so its more a surprise that he didnt open his mouth sooner.
Things were getting super quiet on that front, and he had to go and open it up again...what a dumb move.
Especially if he thinks that this will get people into his corner.

He probably thinks he helped...guys like him see the world through a weird lens. Remember he thinks he is a feminist...

He gives major narcissist vibes.

I think I’m one of the nicer showrunners that’s ever been.

This cover is hilarious. :funny:

"fallen feminist Nerd King" wow...thats certainly a title.
Dude had luck by having Good writers on buffy, calm the **** down.

The guy could have saves his career with this Interview, but instead He burned it even more.
Just say that the Stress and tension by taking over the project of Someone Else and with the Studio breathing down your neck, got out of Hand...but no, attack actors, Play victim etc...what an absolute *****ebag.

More women are coming forward with more stories about Whedon on twitter. Bald bastah should've kept quiet and let it go.

There was a point where lots of people doubted Fishers allegations against Whedon, "where's the evidence?" they said. Then others who worked with Whedon spoke out about his past behaviour. Charisma Carpenter publicly supported Fisher and talked about Whedons behaviour and the stars of Buffy came forward to back her up.
A pattern of behaviour confirmed by multiple corroborating witnesses, a chain reaction started by Fisher revealing what people in power in the companies are able to get away with. Things that were kept secret for years because others were choosing to enable and support Whedon.
I don't see many people doubting the allegations against Whedon anymore.

So why the doubt when it comes to Johns? If we accept what Fisher said about Whedon is the truth, then we have to consider who let him get away with it, who enabled him? Johns was there, others have spoken out about his own behaviour, and Fisher seems to have been proven right about Whedon.
And if not Johns, why would Fisher give whomever was actually enabling Whedon a free pass and target an innocent instead?

It has been interesting seeing the conversation change from "Fisher is a liar" to "Yes maybe Fisher was telling the truth about Whedon, but everything else he says is a lie."
Most of them are quiet now because of the backing that Fisher got but some STILL say Fisher is wrong and hate on him. They just don't want to admit Fisher has a point and I wonder why..............

I dont wanna speak on this too much but i will say its ironic that Whedon was slamming Ray for being such a bad actor and how his scenes in Zacks cut made no sense and yet almost unanimously Rays performance and story arc as Cyborg was praised as being the highlight and heart of the movie. Even from people who didnt like Zacks prior movies lol

Funniest part was Gal Gadot telling Whedon that he didn’t understand comic book movies even though he’s been reading comics his entire life, wrote an acclaimed run on X-Men and was coming off the Avengers.

Actually, that part was expanded on Gal's own interview from last year. She did not want Flash scene of him falling on her chest. It didn't make sense to her as to why it was needed. They used her body double instead.

I have a hard time believing she said that lol

And yet she understood the character of Wonder Woman far better then he did. You're right, that is hilarious.

Nah, I didn't read it that way either. But I don't want to re-read the article again. I read it as Gal had issues with certain scenes and dialogue, which Whedon obviously did not like, and the author of said article made it seem like 'how dare she question the true cb guy who had at that point the highest grossing cbm' etc.

Also, having read his version of WW, bald Whedon needs to chill with that. lawd.

It is obvious that Caitlin Burles, Gal's stunt double, who worked with Whedon during JL reshoots, also was also not happy with Whedon's behavior.

I mean its still possible that Whedon doesnt understand certain characters, writing or reading comics doesnt neccessary mean understanding them.
While it certainly helps when people have knowledge on the matter, it doesnt mean a lot.
Look at Snyder, didnt understood Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman at all.

Yeah that doesnt surprise me at all.
Above all else, the for some reason called "Feminist" always seems to make Women uncomfortable.
Might have to do with the fact that they guy isnt really a feminist and finds stuff like flash falling on Wonder Womans boobs, hilarious.
If i have to choose, i take Snyders edgyness over Whedons Juvenile "humor" any day.

Re: the Whedon article

It’s been alleged (or implied) that Whedon’s attitude toward Cyborg/Fisher was motivated by racism. But it seems to me it’d be relatively easy (PR Spin 101) for Whedon to deflect this charge. I.e., it was WB who mandated a 2-hour runtime. Therefore, a lot of material had to be cut; and the Cyborg sub-plot was just one of many excisions. Unfortunate for Fisher — but nothing to do with racism.

Instead, however, Whedon keeps it personal and doubles down. He maintains that the (black) character’s arc made no sense and that the (black) actor was simply bad. Moreover, Whedon says that prior test screenings confirmed his assessment.

Except… the article makes no mention of ZSJL as a counterpoint to this claim. Indeed, in reviews of the Snyder cut (whether pro or con), Cyborg’s arc and Fisher’s performance are often praised. Yet the interviewer doesn’t bother to challenge Whedon with this detail — or even address it parenthetically. Rather, Whedon is given the last word.

He could have easily saved his career with this interview for sure.
Hell he could have put the blame on WB since we are in general when it comes to DC in this stage where people blame WB for everything, so it would have been easy to score points.
Blame the Toxic set mood etc on WB, say that you never meant to hurt anybody and made mistakes.
Fixes not everything but owning up mistakes is always a good step in the right direction.

But its not a good look if you try to defend yourself by attacking the man who accused you of Racism, going "nah this person was just bad at their job".
It reminds me what the AEW owner Tony Khan did when a black female wrestler spoke out how she thinks that AEW could do a better job at diversity etc.
He gone on Twitter to say that he let her go from her contract because he felt she wasnt a good wrestler...acting like a complete child dealing with it.

People shouldn't be suspired that JW would defend himself at some point. hes taken it personal as well so his defense is very poor. I personally wont be surprised at JW doing more tv or film in the future cuz lets be frank, a lot of the stuff he touched was loved by critics and the GA and made a lot of money. and money in hollywood is really all that matters unfortunately.

JW is so easy to hate and he just made it easier with this last interview.
