The Dark Knight LR: Has some news for us

I don't mind the run-through love interst thing (as its different from the Burton/Schumacher films), I don't like the recasting idea.

LOL!!!.....what a mess... :o:woot:

This reminds me of a lot of this comic book movie situations and this thread will get all angry as this develops i'm sure:cwink:

I was thinking maybe this means that Rachel is in TDK "In Name Only", not actually on screen. LR may have worded it like this just to get people talking.

No I don't think so, but I do think it means that she will die by the hands of the Joker and her death will make him forever Batman's archemeny.

Maybe the Penguin part was rewritten into this Eastern European Heavy and they're saving the Penguin for a bigger part in the next sequel.

Or Nolan couldn't cast exactly who he had in mind for the part and just said the heck with it.

Love interests have ruined 90% of comic book movies.

Seriously. Comic books have had the stereotype of being read by male geeks. But when it comes to film, all of a sudden we have to reach the female audience? F**k *****. Give me my macho-man. :o

hopefully it's not too late to write Rachel off. have her go to Metropolis, or have her killed off screen. i'm not a big fan of recasting. in fact, i HATE it!!!

The psychology and theatrically is what makes him his arch rival,it's the fact Joker is maybe just a few steps from where Batman could end up

new booty every movie,If It's good enough for Bond it's good enough for Bats:mad::up:

I'm puzzled how a well made, good looking guy who can act at the level of Bale is wrong for a character that is supposed to be in the Wayne mould:huh:

I agree. Too bad for Damon, though I'm kinda hoping Wahlberg gets it, despite the fake report.

I don't think any of the names mentioned (Foxx, Lucas, Norton) will get cast. Likely it'll be someone completely different ...

And why is the Rachel Dawes character necessary? If Holmes doesn't want to return, write the character out.

Nolan doesn't come across as the kind of director that would have unnecessary characters in his movies. So yes, I think the character is very necessary to what he has in mind.

There is only two characters that are still living that Bruce loves to no end: Alfred and Rachel. You cannot kill off Alfred so there you go.

I got no problem with random booty (the 2 girls Bruce was with in BB were great)...it's just when they start being part of the story and open their mouth (to talk that is ;) ) that it bugs me. :o

I like Whalberg:up: and even know im sure it would cause some fuss i'd be happy if Di caprio took the role

I agree, but I believe Nolan also wants to make it personal between him and her death will be a storm of vengence that he is forced to battle with to keep from becoming like that which he despise.

The feminists are hunting you as we speak, when Babs and Miranda get here you'll have to haul ass:csad::woot:

I'm honestly sick of this need for the bad guy and hero to be connected personally in these types of movies, they have even done it with Sandman:csad:

Now that we could have a better actress in the role, I hope the character doesn't die now. With Holmes in there, I would have liked to seen her killed off by The Joker. Not anymore.

Well that is the point. Because we know what Rachel means to Bruce, none of us she want to see her die. That is why Holmes was wrong for the part to begin with.

Agreed. And its already been done before between Bats and The Joker. Batman 1989

Yeah, it kind of cliche but for better or for worse, I think thats the way Nolan is headed and that is why he created a new character.

It's always been more personal for Batman when it comes to Joker.

I will NOT get over this sh:t for a while.... UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO YOU EVER RECAST IN A TRILOGY... i don't even care if they kill her off in ten minutes... why even have her if they do that... never been at a lower point with prehype on this flick

I dont either, heck I dont really like Damon but he would have made a fantastic Dent IMO.

As for Holmes and the recast...gosh I hate recasts.:cmad:
If Rachel is staying in the script even with Holmes gone then she obviously plays an important part in the story. The only guess I would have is what everyone else has said and that's her death.

Yes. Maybe it didn't start that way, but look at all of the people Joker has either killed or brutalized who Bruce has had an emotional attachment to.

I like it for one. The Joker should be someone that both Bruce and the audience hates, so when Bruce is tempted to kill the guy, we too can share in his dilemma.
