The Dark Knight LR: Has some news for us

Was replaced by the Nolan that stands for quality.

Btw, if for believability, Holomes was anything but believable as Rachel.

Quality would mean keep Rachel out of the movie. Correct?

Believability means not many people KNEW Holmes would suck it up that much. She's not "A" material; but she's not that bad either.

Besides, I want to BELIEVE in the character Rachel, and that means two things: get Holmes to come back, or keep Rachel out of the movie.

Her nipples were pretty believable.

I's agrees.

The only time I cringed at her performance was when she mocked the cop on the bridge and said something like "Officer, I am a Gotham City District Attorney. Let me through." She looked like a 16-year-old girl saying "whatever." And you know, that scene would have been better if she just said "talk to the hand.. as if!"

I just condemn Homes' acting. I don't even have a name for Rachel but I can smell a poor acting when I see it.

You smell through your eyes? :csad:

And I have no proof that Holmes didn't come up with the double slap, but you have no proof that she did, and thus can't blame that scene on her.

Couldn't agree more, I hate that scene with her. There's only one other scene I don't like, and it's the Batman/Gordon scene when Batman is explaining to him what Ra's Al Ghul's plan is with the train.

Let's get a more mature actress in there to better this character. In TDK, we'll see a better written character as well as a better executed character in terms of performance.

The list of examples could go one for pages.

The list of excuses for said examples could go on for years.

I see first then I smell. Try it.

No problem, I have plenty of scenes to prove how bad she was.

And in any case a good actress could have used a double slapping in a very powerful way. The performence is due to the performer no matter what the director said (and it's not like Katie Cruise can't say 'no' to a director.)

Or the scene where Ra's thug/guy in cop uniform smacks the kid away and she yells "hey!" When that guy just pointed at her, I felt like he was saying "Rachel should be seen and not heard."

I don't quite see your point through the sarcasm. Please, do explain.

a) You didn't bring the funneh.

b) Just because we don't agree that this is the worst thing ever doesn't mean we're 'making excuses.'

That´s the logic of the boards, if you can´t agree with a positive opinion you´re "impossible to please" and if you can´t agree with a negative one you´re "making excuses".

Understood.

However, I wasn't referring to the exact excuse of an actress over Holmes. I was referring to a posters response on the poor casting over another. I believe the poster used Dumbledore as an example.

I am not against the choice, once it is made. I am just against the recasting itself. Does that mean I will gripe and complain after it is done? Possibly. But then, and only then will I complain of the new choice, not of Holmes vs. whomever.

My apologizes for not being clear.

Fanboys are great, huh?

Makes me want to buy everyone a drink.

In fact, make your way to Athens, GA and I will buy everyone a round for being the hardheads that we are.

Also, I see your point.

Yeah i know. If -for example- you try to defend Holmes then you have bad taste or are some kind of closet scientologist.

I cringed at that for a different reason.

How does the cop know she's a district attorney? She didn't show him any ID.

DA's carry badges. If Katie had been holding a badge in that hand, instead of just making a "talk to the hand" motion, then it would have been fine. But the empty hand, and the cop just letting her pass... that bugs me.

Aha. I got you now. Sorry bout that.

Unless the execs are going for something 70's sitcom-esque or have an uncanny look-alike, I don't even get the point of putting Rachel Dawes in the movie if Holmes isn't going to play her. They should just make a reference to her like the one to Vicky Vale in Returns.

Gordon: Meet the new D.A... Harvey Dent... he took over after Rachel moved to (wherever)... thats it... end of story... no need for a damn recast

One might call that poor directing rather than poor acting, would'nt you agree?

I see your point, as one of my friend is an agent and points that stuff out like rocks in a driveway.

Her performance wasn't that bad. I mean, we could be stuck in an alternate universe where we had to watch Batman and Robin on a continuos loop.

And you know what, in light of Holmes and my pal Master Bruce, here's to Disturbing Behavior.

Gordon: Meet the new D.A... Harvey Dent... he took over after Katie moved to some s***ty movie that won't make a f***ing dime... thats it... end of story... no need for a damn recast
Remixed. :cwink:

Do NOT even joke about that. It might come true! :cmad:

Yeah the character Dawes needs to just be written out completely and not brought back in...I think I might like too see the movie with out a love intrest for Batman for once. Like have Montoya catch his eye but no kissing or anything else just merely catch his attention. I want to see the more playboy version of Bruce that I see in the comics brought to life, I think I might like that better than Dawes being recasted...

Yes, and then to replace the emotional response of Joker killing Rachel, a person that Bruce has known most of his life and loves like family and the subsequent grief and lust for vengence that follows, Nolan can just have Joker kill Alfred instead.

Now that would truly be a shocker.

Thanks for killing off a central character to the Batman mythos FaT_tONle!

Dent wouldn't be taking over for Rachel as she wasn't the DA to begin with.
