The Dark Knight LR: Has some news for us

Okay first of all... the orginal guy passed on... so don't even bring that into discussion...

I know Richard Harris passed away, but it's still an example of a character that needed to be recast. We are not discussing the surrounding circumstances.

One might call that poor directing rather than poor acting, would'nt you agree?

That's not entirely the director's job, first of all. Secondly, Nolan's English so I let him off the hook for not knowing that American DA's carry badges. Thirdly, a lot of Americans don't even know that, so I REALLY let Nolan off the hook for it.

But it would have been nice if Goyer had known, in his script, and written that Rachel held up a badge when she said that. Or if one of the damn props or wardrobe guys had thought to give her a badge. Or if she'd been smart enough to ask to have a badge for that scene.

One cannot blame Nolan alone, but nor can one blame Katie alone.

I see your point, as one of my friend is an agent and points that stuff out like rocks in a driveway.

Word.
Her performance wasn't that bad. I mean, we could be stuck in an alternate universe where we had to watch Batman and Robin on a continuos loop.

Exactly. *shivers*

I see first then I smell. Try it.

No problem, I have plenty of scenes to prove how bad she was.

And in any case a good actress could have used a double slapping in a very powerful way. The performence is due to the performer no matter what the director said (and it's not like Katie Cruise can't say 'no' to a director.)

Smell a bad performance? Hmm...thanks...but no, I don't think a bad performance can be decided by sniffing. And yeah, Katie Holmes overrides what Nolan wants as a director.... If he was disappointed in it, he should've asked her to do it again, right?

Oh, and have you noticed the directors always say 'Cut!'?

God, I hope they're not really cutting anybody.

Or maybe he would re-cast her... WAIT! :oldrazz:

Let's hope we hear who the better actress that will be playing Dawes will by by next month....

It's pointless to recast a character that really didn't have any impact in the movie. At the end of "BB" they practically saw there was no future for them and it seemed like Dawes was going to step down and move away from Gotham City (us fans hoped that was the case). They tried to rekindle the old sparks between each other, but Bruce knew a relationship was impossible because of his new identity/persona/destiny.

She saw that he had changed from the little boy and young man she once knew. And he never stopped changing despite saving the city from massive destruction.

So, really what is the real significance of her coming back? Is she suddenly going to be like, "Oh Bruce I'm sorry let's never fight again now hold me and kiss me?"

Let's get to the women who meant a damn in Bruce's life. Let's get to Selina Kyle, the one woman Bruce saw he could share a lifetime together with. Or other of Batman's dames.

Let's keep it fresh and keep it moving like the Bond films. I mean Selina should be the one making various appearances in the next Batman films, not Dawes.

damn straight lets get the kyle in. Dawes was such an annoying, redundant character. She has totally run her course imo. Move over already, b**ch.

My point guys is that Rachel's annoyiongness and lack of imact can be addressed merely to Katie Holmes.

Now, yes, she said something that called for an ending in the Bruce-Rachel relationship. Even so, we don't know what's going to happen later. Maybe Rachel was just over-reacting, saying that she didn't love Bruce when she totally does, or maybe it's Bruce who's gonna run after her.

What I mean is, I trust Nolan is really neeeding the character for the sequel.

They don't have the balls to do Selina and we all know it... Burton nailed it... no point fixing perfection... just go with Madison or Andrea... no damn recasting of Dawes for the millionth time

As the ambiguous boderline psychotic/schizopherinc character who fell apart just as the stitches from her clothes came apart, she was absolutely perfect.

As the voluptuous, ambiguous 'cat-burglar', with a more than apparent attraction to Batman (which was reciprocated) who liked playing both sides of the law........ Not really done by Burton, No.

Yes, and then to replace the emotional response of Joker killing Rachel, a person that Bruce has known most of his life and loves like family and the subsequent grief and lust for vengence that follows, Nolan can just have Joker kill Alfred instead.

Now that would truly be a shocker.

Thanks for killing off a central character to the Batman mythos FaT_tONle!

When did I say kill off Alfred... why the hell do we need to see Joker kill Rachel... who gives a ****... kidnapping Gordon, murdering people, whacking mobsters, stealing jewels, scarring Dent... that will be more than enough to create an intense rivalry

Not everything can be a perfect comic book adaptation... look at other Super hero movies... heck even Begins... Selina has been there done that... I think she would be too difficult to tackle... we already got Joker in this... a few mobsters... how much can they cram in... I wouldn't mind them try... but I just don't see it in Nolan's version

In Nolan's version, an ambiguous night-burglar with the hots for Batman would work a hell of lot better than in Burton's world. Although to be fair, Pfeiffer's Catwoman would be completely out of place in Nolan's version of Gotham.

You didn't, I did. Nolan would need someone else close to Bruce to have the same emotional impact as that of Rachel being killed.

Who give a ****? Nolan does. Its his movie and its the story he want to tell.

Agree or disagree, that is not want Nolan wants. He wants to make it personal between Batman and Joker.

It almost the same as what Ridley Scott did between Russell Crowe's character and Joaqiux Phoenix in Gladiator.

OYE!

EL MOFACKIN' MAYIMBE AQUI!

After much speculation on the web, I got some news concerning casting on THE DARK KNIGHT, the sequel to BATMAN BEGINS!

We gave the world the first look at the script review for BATMAN BEGINS 3 years ago so it goes without saying that my information is solid concerning this project. I don't get my information from any publicists, like other people do, those folks get spoon fed and believe me you expect other sites to start calling their peeps at WB to find out if this is true….Like they will ever tell you the truth.

So that being said...

It's official (no surprise), HARVEY DENT is in THE DARK KNIGHT. Matt Damon passed on the role. The filmmakers met Josh Lucas and there is an interest in Jamie Foxx and Ed Norton. I'm pretty sure there are other actors that I'm not aware of up for the Harvey Dent role.

Now the big news is that the character of RACHEL DAWES is back in THE DARK KNIGHT but Katie Holmes won't be playing her!

No surprise there.

She is being replaced and the filmmakers are looking for that actress now. Let the speculation begin...

Some other minor roles...

Eastern European Heavy - tough bad guy mobster, 40s-50s
Female Cop - Latin, 30s. Elizabeth Pena type.
Asian Accountant - male, 40s
Sounds like a lot of diversity in the sequel!

Also according to Production Weekly, the film has been in pre-production as of January 11th.

Lastly there is no Oswald Cobblepot AKA The Penguin in THE DARK KNIGHT.

That is all I have for now so stick with the hardest working Beaners in showbiz here at Latinoreview as further information develops on THE DARK KNIGHT! In the meantime, I have to change back into my housekeeping clothes and sneak onto the Warner lot here in Burbank. Wow, Alan Horn has quite a nice office!

HASTA EL PROXIMO CAPITULO...

...YO SOY EL MAYIMBE!

Lets hope they get NORTON! Lucas is garbage and Foxx is not right at all for the role.

So now you are an insider? You don't know that... Personal doesn't mean murdering Rachel Dawes... it can be many things that increase the tension... Gordon kidnapped? Maybe his daughter kidnapped? Or his son... that would get under Batman's skin... Dent getting scarred... mass murders across Gotham... many other ways to do it... so lets just agree to disagree

Lazenby over Moore and Dalton? Are you high!?

LOL. Just honest. OHMSS is one of the best Bond movies ever. Lazenby was a fine Bond; his only crime was being the guy who came after Sean Connery. Which would have killed ANYbody.

I actually say Roger Moore is the worst Bond of all time. :o

Sure, we can agree to disagree. Its not that serious to argue over. In fact, it great that info is starting to come out so can talk again.

I'm not an insider but I willing to guarantee that the character of Rachel, if she indeeds appears in TDK, will be involved in a crucial scene involving the theme of the film.

If fact, I believe the creation of the character was intended for what will happen in TDK.
