I have little faith Singleton can deliver a great Cage film. He's been falling off ever since Rosewood.

He only has two decent films to his name. I really hope he doesn't direct the Cage movie.

Marvel should have plenty leverage to get started on several projects like yesterday...I'm hopeful for some small projects in 2009, but it doesn't look to be happening. Luke Cage could be a huge movie with Will Smith, or it could be a great buddy flick with Power Man and Iron Fist. What's important is for Marvel to get moving on this film...and others as well...Sony HAD the rights (I thought) but it should have lapsed by now.

Can't believe this one didn't hit me before.

Terry Crewes

Comedians do make for the best actors. I know he can do serious pretty well and can hear him saying "Sweet Christmas" believably.

Yeah, I can see it too. If he just doesn't act too weird as usual. I hate for him to mess up Cage's image.

He can be very serious and intimidating when he needs to be. He's just more into comedic roles I guess. I don't think he'd act all loony when he's supposed to be dead serious.

oh yeah! i could totally see dude in the role, more than others mention on this list. This movie really needs to get done.Cage is a great character.

You people actually think Will Smith would make a good Luke Cage?????? Com'on. Will is a great actor but he doesn't have that urban thuggish vibe. And plus, he looks to much like a male model. The heroes that Will would be good for would be Mr.Terrific and the Falcon.

Even Falcon has some hood in 'em. I don't follow DC that hard, so I can't speak on Terrific.

I think what Will said is true and kind of speaks to stereotypes in comics. There aren't any well known African American superheroes that don't have that "urban" vibe. So ultimately, he was right to say none suit him.

No I don't think he'd make a good Cage. He's also not a great actor. But as far as him not giving off a "urban thuggish vibe"...if he was really a great actor, he could do that. :o

Haha. Well he's definitely a Luke Cage fan. If he's not then his entire personality is the world's greatest coincidence.

What is it that you have againts Will? You dogged him and his movies.

What about Black Panther and Storm. They're well known. (I believe Storm is more well known than BP). They don't have Urban vibes.

Black Panther doesn't suit him though.

Brother Voodoo is also not too Urban. He's a little out there, yeah, but hey, the point is he's not urban.

War Machine/James Rhodes isn't urban either but he's already taken. Just saying is all.

this guy would be good too

LOL. I don't know Will Smith so I don't have anything against him personally. He's simply not a great actor...though he is a big star, obviously. Similar to Stallone and Schwarzenegger (though not as terrible).

Will wouldn't look good in Storm's costume. :woot:

Seriously, Storm and BP are African, not African American.

Brother Voodoo isn't very well known, and he's Haitian, not African American.

Rhodey is definitely hood. He's a tough guy from south Philly. He interacted with gangs, and eventually joined the military to escape the streets, and "make something of him self". The movie didn't mention that side, but comic Rhodey is definitely hood.

So then Marvel has been making the point that all African Americans are hood. Yaaay, Marvel. :oldrazz:

I agree. I don't think Will Smith is such the great actor that people make him out to be and IMO I wouldn't want him playing any marvel hero. Booker T might fit cage physically, but i don't think he can act other than in a crowd of wrestling fans. Body slam someone sure, but i don't know about acting. Which brings back Terry Crewes. At least he has acting experience somewhat, if only in comedies.I think if he got a chance to do a serious role. He could do a great job.

Yeah...definitely no wrestlers.
