So not good but not terrible?

Pretty much, meh. Has a lot of good aspects of the show much like the other series but it has the most glaring and noticeable problems out of all the series. It is definitely the worst series on Netflix Marvel has put out. Still better than most of Agents of Shield though.

So ****ing true. I didn't like this series at all, but it's definitely better than Agents of Shields mind numbing melodrama.

I liked parts of it. I know it sounds like I hated it but there are story elements I liked, actors were great for the most part, and there were underlying messages regarding race under that story I enjoyed that they were tackling using the character.

I was actually enjoying it a lot especially in the first half of the series but then it kinda drops off and continues dropping off especially in the action which was probably by far the worst action set pieces of any series they have put out. That is throughout the entire season.

To a point where it became so cheesy it was laughable at times. Like compare it to Captain America in the MCU and how he kicks normal people with his super strength and they just get blasted like a rocket into something and most of the time it doesn't kill them.

Here we have Luke's super strength used and most of these stunt guys are taking some of the softest most chessy flops when he hits them I have seen in a show in a long time.

Then all the sudden someone would go through a wall then they would go back to the little soft flops by the stunt guy extras after that.

There was no emphasis on his super strength other than him being bullet proof. I am not going to point out any specific scenes here so not to spoil anything but it was rather disappointing.

I wanted to make them make me feel his super strength when he used it. Much like Captain America with sound effects when he hit someone or emphasis on how a normal person would take a hit from someone with super strength when he knocked them out.

There were times they would build me up and build me up to a action set piece and have me ready super ready for it and then it would feel like they just throw all that build up out the window with how the action piece was handled.

The story is not terrible and will keep you engaged for most of the series but there are aspects of it especially in the back half that I did not like and then the writing in the final episode is probably the worst out of the entire series or any series.

You know how they say a bad ending or finale can really do damage to the entire series? It's kind of that case here.

It kind of reminds me a bit of Arrow season 2 when I enjoyed most of what they did and then the finale just felt flat and the action was terrible in it if I had to compare it to anything.

I both commend and criticize the racial element of this show. They get points for trying and making a statement, but the show beats you over the head with it to the point where it almost comes off as pandering. This is the one element the producers really should've taken more inspiration from The Wire. That show handled it masterfully.

Once again the Netflix series continues it trend of real world drama, mature and gritty. Mike proves he's a strong character actor as Luke Cage, much like Charles is as Matt Murdock, bring those two giants in The Defenders is a treat I happily look forward to seeing. Netflix is also three for three on villains [Kingpin, PurpleMan & Cottonmouth] take lesson Marvel Studios you can make your villains just as compelling and richer as The Hero without dumbing them down .

take lesson Marvel Studios you can make your villains just as compelling and richer as The Hero without dumbing them down .

if you have 13 hours to flesh them out...

It was way too on the nose. The speeches about Crispus Attucks and Jackie Robinson felt really forced.

Four episodes in and I am really digging it. The tone is so different and lighter but serious at the same time and it's a lot more colorful the dd and jj. Favorite character so far is cottonmouth.

This is definitely the weakest of the Netflix shows so far. Very cliche in places, poor/corny main villain, weak story, etc. This seemed very unfocused at times with a lot of "ugh" or "meh" moments. I'm disappointed, but it wasn't terrible.

Shades was the best character by far.

2 episodes in and I like the show. Its a different vibe than DD and JJ. It feels more like a HBO The Wire-esque inner city drama...but with a guy who's unbreakable. IT's definitely less comic-booky than the other two but that not a bad thing. I dig the vibe of the show and its nice to see this side of NY.

Something tells me this won't be AS widely embraced as DD and JJ though but you never know.

I don't think it will either but it's a great complement to those 2. As a whole they work well together and I really can not wait for Defenders at this rate.

Thats really the beauty of this Netflix series. In about a year we're gonna see these guys all come together, its gonna be real interesting to see Luke interact with Matt and Danny Rand and vice versa. I kinda wish Luke and Danny were established friends though but I'm sure they'll grow that relationship in Defenders.

I thought there was going to be a Danny Rand cameo in Luke Cage, or will it be Misty that connects those shows together? Because I really wouldn't mind seeing Simone again so soon. Really.... For real... Honestly.

You know, call me crazy but I think they should have kept Alfre Woodard's character the same as the one she played in Civil War. That would've been a Heck of a twist. lol

I've seen people say they'd love to have seen see Murdock or JJ, etc, but Marvel aren't going to take away the juice and dilute the impact of seeing these characters come together for the first time (aside from Luke and JJ) in the Lollapalooza event known as the Defenders. I wouldn't want that either.

I had no problem with the ending, in fact I loved it. What's wrong with the unknown? It just adds more mystery for what's to come from my perspective.

To me it wasn't the unknown. It was just a clunky ending and an awkward note to go out on.
