The Force Awakens Luke Skywalker - Mark Hamill

I'm thinking that Hamill will have a "How Skywalker got his groove back" arc alongside training Rey for the next film. It seems clear that even if he was hunting down the original temple, Ben's turning into Kylo hurt him quite a bit. And if Rey is his daughter and he abandoned her, he's got even more stuff to work through.

And that would be awesome! I'd love to see Rey continue to be the main protagonist alongside Finn, but giving Luke a separate journey to go through would be awesome. And I still would love to see them flip the ESB duel with Luke and one of the Knights of Ren; have Luke utterly dominate an upstart dark side rookie while trying to convert them to the light side. There's about seven knights counting Ren, so they could afford to have him convert one.

So fitting. And also fitting that Rey had to travel so far and so high up to reach "the light." Or, rather to start to become a part of the light. Rey/ray of light.

Yes that is one of the things that bug me about the movie. Luke is a failure and the slowest learning protagonist in the series.

luke did not look badass. He looked fatass. Old and fat. I don't mind the character, but in all honesty he is partially responsible to the events that led up to the movie. This movie really made him out to be a coward. It will be interesting to see if he is a main character or support character the next 1-2 movies.

Luke was far from a coward. He went into exile so there would be no attachment with his daughter Rey, in order to keep her alive and safe. Otherwise Kylo would have seen her as a threat, and found her presence and killed her.

I agree 100%... That was my favorite part of the entire movie!! He has and always will be my favorite Star Wars character!

Honestly it just makes me more excited for the movies that follow, because I know he'll have a bigger presence obviously.

I could see him and snoke dueling while we get Rey and Ben dueling in the finale.. Kinda like we saw yoda and palpatine dueling and obi wan and anakin dueling....

Here is the thing.. I think Luke left because he new Kylo couldn't be saved.. And he didn't want anymore of his families blood on his hands.. He knew what that would do to Han and Leia. So he simply left and went into exile.. We all know he is apprehensive about taking up the saber against his own family.

I mean, we all witnessed Kylo in this movie.. A fight between him and Luke would be incredibly short! He stands no chance and furthermore killing him would be pointless and render Luke susceptible to the dark side. I really think this plays out with Kylo making some kind of sacrifice at the conclusion of the series ... To have Kylo kill Luke would be unbelievable !! I think it ends with Luke embracing his daughter and Leia holding her deceased son and finally being proud of him.

Aren't Jedi not supposed to have sex, that was used to show Anakin disobeying that Jedi rule to further become a sith. Though I guess since his kids are both good and Vader ends up saving the day in ROTJ, that could've been changed.

I'd say maybe she could be in some way related to Obi Wan or the Skywalkers, but maybe not as direct.

We're not sure, but there's plenty of hints that make it seem that way. And Jedi were being built from the ground up again, so maybe things changed?
