M Hype-5: Season One

EPISODE 2, CHAPTER 3

DAY 1 - 1:20PM

Norman walks down the steps of the safe house and down into the living room where Calvin Spoons and Audrey Pickering remain on the couch together watching afternoon television. With a cup of tea in hand, Norman walks towards one of the front windows and looks outside across the street, glancing casually at the neighborhood around him.

Directly across from the safe house, The Jaguarr's eyes lock onto Norman from the window through a pair of binoculars. He looks away for a moment and stares at the two dead bodies lying limply on the floor, resting coldly in puddles of crimson blood.

Down on the street, and inside the control van, a pair of M Hype-5 surveillance officers wearing communication headsets continue to try to contact the officers inside the apartment. A pair of Special Forces personnel sit close to the surveillance officers, awaiting any orders.

OFFICER #3: Bravo 1, this is Charlie 1. Come in.

They receive no response. The surveillance officers look at one another, clearly thinking the same thing: something is not right. The second officer motions to the Special Forces operatives, who quickly exit the van with rifles in hand and head towards the apartment. The first officer hits a button connected to his headset and chimes into Norman's earpiece.

OFFICER #3: (from the headset) Alpha 1, this is Charlie 1. We have a Code Yellow situation. No response from Bravo 1 or 2.

Inside the safe house, Norman's hand is to his earpiece receiving the message. He immediately turns to look at both Audrey and Spoons, urgently. Audrey notices Norman's stare and concerned look.

AUDREY: Is something wrong?

Norman turns back to the window with his hand to his earpiece and responds to the surveillance officer.

NORMAN: I'm not taking any chances. I'm moving them.

Norman swiftly moves away from the window.

SPOONS: What the hell is going on?

Norman puts his hand to his earpiece again, this time radioing in to a surveillance officer behind the safe house in a black car.

NORMAN: Delta 1, this is Alpha 1. We're moving them out. A Code Yellow.

The officer behind the house immediately starts the car.

Inside, Norman throws on his coat as Audrey and Spoons stand up from off the couch.

AUDREY: Wait, what's wrong?

NORMAN: We have to leave immediately.

SPOONS: But what about our stuff? Our clothes and....

NORMAN: (sharply) Your lives are a little more important right now!

On that note, Audrey and Spoons reluctantly rush out of the safe house behind Norman, who leads them through the back door and straight to the car waiting in the alley behind the house. The three hop inside the car and are driven off onto the road and clear away from the area.

Across from the safe house, the two Special Forces officers from the control van tread cautiously through a hallway towards the apartment where the other surveillance officers are suppose to be. The two turn a corner and immediately notice the door to the apartment swung open and the splatter of blood adorning the walls. They both grip their rifles tightly and step closer towards the apartment door. They stop and hug the wall a few feet away from the doorway, further tightening their grips on their individual guns.

They silently count to three and swiftly jump into the doorway pointing their rifles into the apartment.........but they find only the bodies of the two agents sprawled across the floor.

DAY 1 - 1:56 PM

Back inside M Hype-5 headquarters, Bella and Hunter enter the grid and begin walking towards their individual desks. Byrdmann hastily exits his office, immediately locating Hunter and Bella.

BYRDMANN: Mr. Ryder, Ms. Daniels, please tell me we have something on our hirer.

BELLA: Well, not quite, but we have another lead. What's wrong?

BYRDMANN: Two of our surveillance officers near the safe house have been killed.

BELLA: (shocked) My god.

HUNTER: What about.....

BYRDMANN: Norman's transporting Audrey and her fiancée to a south end house completely away from the city where hopefully no one can find them.

BELLA: You don't actually think The Jaguarr tracked them down that fast?

HUNTER: I wouldn't put it past this guy.

BYRDMANN: What did we get on our Mr. Badger?

BELLA: Well, I think we can scratch him off the list. He doesn't seem to have anything serious against either Audrey or Spoons. But he told us to take a look at Audrey's father, David.

Tzarinna immediately enters the huddle.

TZARINNA: David Pickering?

HUNTER: Yeah.

TZARINNA: We could look into it. See if there's anything he'd have against Audrey.

BELLA: But that's crazy. A father hiring a hitman to kill his own daughter?

BYRDMANN: "The crazier it sounds, the more likely it's true." Let's get on it. Every second counts.

DAY 1 - 2:41PM

A control van sits parked outside a small cottage in the hills nearly ten miles outside Miscfilms City.

Inside, Norman, Audrey, and Spoons stand in the middle of a much smaller living room with older furniture and antique decorations surrounding them.

SPOONS: How could this guy have tracked us down? I thought you people were suppose to protect us.

NORMAN: You're still alive, aren't you?

SPOONS: Oh, please. Two of your boys just got waxed and now we're running for our lives from this guy.

NORMAN: The man who's trying to kill you is a notorious and highly trained assassin who isn't going to stop until the both of you are dead. Stopping him isn't going to be easy, and as you can see, there are some pretty damn big challenges. We're doing everything we can, but things would be a lot easier if you weren't b****ing about something every five minutes.

Spoons begins to step hastily towards Norman in anger, but Audrey gets between them.

AUDREY: (to Spoons) Calvin, calm down. Please.

SPOONS: Whatever....

He walks out of the room. Audrey lets out a deep sigh and plops down onto the couch, her hands on her forehead in frustration. Norman sits down on the couch as well, rubbing the back of his neck.

AUDREY: I just....

NORMAN: You don't have to apologize again.

AUDREY: We're just....we're scared, okay? I mean, how could this guy have found us?

NORMAN: I have no idea. But, trust me when I say, we're going to do everything we can to make sure you two are as safe as possible.

AUDREY: My fiancée is......he's a bit of a hothead sometimes, but he means well. He's just.....

NORMAN: He's frustrated. I'm frustrated. Two agents I knew just died. And a part of me.....a part of me wants to find this guy myself and rip him in half for what he's done. But.....another part of me......

AUDREY: What? What is it?

NORMAN: Nothing. It's nothing.

AUDREY: You can tell me.

There's a comforting tone to Audrey's voice.

NORMAN: No....don't worry about it. I'm sorry.

AUDREY: It's okay. Look, I just want you to know that I appreciate what you're doing for us. I mean, people like you risk your lives to protect people like me every day, and no one in the world ever knows about it. Not many people can do what you do. I just....I just wanted to say thanks. For everything you're doing.

Norman takes her words deeply to heart. But he chooses not to completely express this.

NORMAN: You don't have to thank me. It's my job.

*********
DAY 1 - 9:07 PM

Inside the grid, Tzarinna, Bella, and Byrdmann gather around a group of files laid out across a desk in the meeting room.

TZARINNA: It looks like Philip Badger was on to something. There may just be a motive for David Pickering after all.

BYRDMANN: And what's that?

TZARINNA: Well, our Mr. Pickering operated a large fashion company for decades. His daughter, Audrey, decided to open up her own clothing line underneath her father's umbrella. Next thing you know, Audrey's line blows up, sales skyrocket, and she becomes so big she branches off to create her own company. A short time later, Audrey's sales completely surpass her father's and she ends up buying out her father's company. David crumbles, and the media jumps all over the story.

BELLA: So you think David Pickering would want to get revenge on Audrey for all of this?

BYRDMANN: The motive is strong enough. We need to get eyes and ears on David Pickering immediately.

TZARINNA: On it.

BELLA: Did Hunter already go home?

TZARINNA: Yeah, I think so. Said he had "major arrangements".

BELLA: Did you try calling him?

TZARINNA: He didn't answer.

BELLA: Alright, I'll drop by his place and give him the latest.

**********
DAY 1 - 10:01 PM

Bella exits an elevator and walks down the hallway of Hunter's apartment complex. Her dark brown hair is tied up in a ponytail, and her hands rest quietly in the pockets of her brown leather coat. She reaches Hunter's apartment, #269, and knocks on the door. She vaguely hears the sound of a few women screaming in pleasure from the other side of the door.

There's no answer, so she knocks again. Suddenly, the door opens with the chain still attached. Hunter is on the other side with his head in the gap between the door and the door frame, seemingly hiding his body.

HUNTER: (quietly) What the hell are you doing here??

Bella is perplexed, as she stares at Hunter as he tries to hide behind the door.

BELLA: Um....I'm here to drop off some assignment files.

HUNTER: This couldn't wait till tomorrow?? I'm in the middle of.....

A woman purrs from the back of the apartment.

WOMAN: Come on, Daddy, don't keep us waiting!

HUNTER: (continues to Bella) I'm in the middle of some very important interactions with a few friends of mine. I'll take care of it tomorrow.

He tries to close the door, but Bella pushes it back in.

BELLA: Hunter, this is important. We think we have a lead on the David Pickering angle, and I need to brief you on it.

From the back of the apartment...

WOMAN: Come on, baby! What's keeping you?!

Hunter turns back to the rest of the apartment.

HUNTER: I'll be right there!

He turns back to Bella.

HUNTER: Look, I understand it's important. But it can wait.

He tries to close the door again, but again Bella stops him.

BELLA: No, it can't.

Bella notices that Hunter is desperately trying to keep himself behind the door. She raises an eyebrow.

BELLA: Are you naked??

HUNTER: Maybe! Now leave! Please!

Suddenly, both of the women come up from behind Hunter completely naked but covering themselves with a silk sheet. They appear to be drunk. The woman who was yelling from the back looks at Bella.

WOMAN: Who's this?

HUNTER: This....um.....this....is....my...

BELLA: I'm his sister.

HUNTER: Yes, yes. This is my sister, Felicia. Felicia, this is Cocoa....and Cinnamon.

WOMAN: Oh, I didn't know you had a sister. You guys look nothing alike.

HUNTER AND BELLA: We get that all the time.

HUNTER: But, um, Felicia's gotta go now. So say goodbye to Felicia.

Hunter suddenly slams the door shut in Bella's face. Bella bangs on the door.

BELLA: Hunter?!

But he doesn't answer.

**********
DAY 2 - 1:42 AM

On the roof of an abandoned apartment building, David Pickering stands and waits underneath the dark night sky. He's a tall man in his early sixties, with thinning white hair and black glasses resting on his prominent nose. He looks onto the streets beneath him watching the few cars passing through in the late night.

Suddenly, a cold voice breaks the stillness.

JAGUARR: You shouldn't stand so close to the edge.

Startled, David turns to see the assassin standing with him on the rooftop. The Jaguarr's hands are in the pockets of his long black coat. The shadows created by the moonlight cover his scarred and chiseled face.

DAVID: I take it the job isn't done.

JAGUARR: Not yet. But it won't be long.

DAVID: I payed you a pretty damn large amount of money. Why isn't it taken care of?

JAGUARR: Reminding me of the fee isn't going to hand you your daughter's head any quicker. There have been some unforeseen bumps in the road. But it's nothing I can't handle.

DAVID: That isn't good enough. If you can't get the job done, I want every cent back I gave you.

JAGUARR: For a man who's so ashamed of being usurped by his own offspring that he actually wants her dead, you sure are attempting to show a backbone here.

The Jaguarr begins to walk towards David Pickering. Each step sends a shiver down David's spine.

JAGUARR: You think a large bank account gives you power over someone who's killed? How does a man with money compare to a man who's ended the existence of others by his own hands? Do you think you have some sort of......authority over me? That I'm at your command?

The Jaguarr stands face-to-face with David. He bends over to whisper into his ear.

JAGUARR: (whispering) You....are.....nothing.

In a flash, The Jaguarr reveals a knife from his pocket. He immediately thrusts it into David's gut and twists it clockwise, then counterclockwise. He rips it out, and watches as David Pickering collapses to the ground, blood gushing from out of his stomach.

**********
DAY 2 - 8:09 AM

Early in the morning inside the safe house, Audrey is in bed awakening to the sunlight. She reaches over to embrace Spoons on the other side of the bed, but she feels nothing. She immediately sits up and looks down. Spoons is gone.

She walks into the living room of the safe house, where Norman is sitting on the small, worn couch drinking coffee.

AUDREY: Have you seen my fiancée?

Norman turns.

NORMAN: No. No, I haven't.

He gets up and walks out the back door of the cottage. He immediately notices the M Hype-5 driver laying across the ground on his stomach. He rushes over to him and kneels. Norman shakes the officer, then turns him over. He's unconscious. Norman looks around the back area of the cottage. The black car is nowhere to be found.

HUNTER: (quietly) What the hell are you doing here??

Bella is perplexed, as she stares at Hunter as he tries to hide behind the door.

Hunter suddenly slams the door shut in Bella's face. Bella bangs on the door.

BELLA: Hunter?!

But he doesn't answer.

Lmfao! Hunter sure has a way with the ladies.:o :cwink:

JAGUARR: For a man who's so ashamed of being usurped by his own offspring that he actually wants her dead, you sure are attempting to show a backbone here.

The Jaguarr begins to walk towards David Pickering. Each step sends a shiver down David's spine.

JAGUARR: You think a large bank account gives you power over someone who's killed? How does a man with money compare to a man who's ended the existence of others by his own hands? Do you think you have some sort of......authority over me? That I'm at your command?

:wow: :D Badass!:woot: :woot:

AUDREY: Have you seen my fiancée?

Norman turns.

NORMAN: No. No, I haven't.

He gets up and walks out the back door of the cottage. He immediately notices the M Hype-5 driver laying across the ground on his stomach. He rushes over to him and kneels. Norman shakes the officer, then turns him over. He's unconscious. Norman looks around the back area of the cottage. The black car is nowhere to be found.

Ooh, the suspense!

Is it wrong that when I read my character, I only see Kevin McKidd? :(

Why can't I be him in real life :(

Great chapter.

I loved the scene descriptions in this one, this one in particular.

Directly across from the safe house, The Jaguarr's eyes lock onto Norman from the window through a pair of binoculars. He looks away for a moment and stares at the two dead bodies lying limply on the floor, resting coldly in puddles of crimson blood.

I am interested in the way the Norm/Audrey relationship is developing, there is something there, Audrey seems so nice but she did basically put her pops out of business, that's cold. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

The Jag scene on the roof was fantastically written, it just oozed atmosphere, the fact he has offed his initial contractor makes me wonder if someone gazumped David, very good ending to keep us all guessing.

Bella needs to stop cramping Hunter's style.

Oooo, it's getting intense! Also, major sparks between Norman and Audrey.

Great chapter, Cmill.

I love the descriptions of everything. Jag is so awesome.

Hunter is a SEX MACHINE! Hahaha! :D Great chapter, Cmill. Love the twists and turns this is beginning to take.

jag

This is getting deep. :wow:
Oh and giggles at Cocoa....and Cinnamon. :yay:

Thanks for the comments, peoples! :)

so I take it, now Jag's just in it for fun?

Sort of. We haven't seen much of him, but in every scene he's been in we've learned more and more about this guy's state of mind. We'll get the full picture in the last chapter.

Also, major sparks between Norman and Audrey.

There's something there, isn't there? ;) :D

Is it wrong that when I read my character, I only see Kevin McKidd?

Yes.

I am interested in the way the Norm/Audrey relationship is developing, there is something there, Audrey seems so nice but she did basically put her pops out of business, that's cold. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

But there may have been a distinct reason for her move against Daddy Pickering. I'll try to address this later.

Bella needs to stop cramping Hunter's style.

Maybe she was jealous.

Final chapter of the story over the weekend.

I haven't forgot about us, kids. :p

I'm busy packing up and heading back to the grind after the holidays, not to mention re-writing some future stories after some unforeseen Hype events. But things are slowly getting back on track here. So hopefully I'll get the final chapter of Story 2 up within the next few days (complete with a surprise ending you didn't see coming )

Also, thanks for the votes for 2007 Hype Fan Fic of the Year. It means a lot.

EPISODE 2, CHAPTER 4

DAY 2 - 8:10 AM

Bright and early in the morning Bella and Hunter enter the grid, each holding a cup of coffee. Bella turns to look at Hunter, who reluctantly looks back at her. He tightens his coat, covering himself more.

HUNTER: (quietly) Morning.

Bella grins.

BELLA: Good morning.

HUNTER: (quietly) Yup, yup.

Hunter's cheeks are a subtle shade of red. He walks towards his desk. Bella stands watching him, shaking her head with a smile.

Hank Byrdmann hastily enters the desk area with papers already in hand. He locates Bella and Hunter.

BYRDMANN: Sorry to kick your morning off to this kind of start, but we have a development.

HUNTER: Problem?

BYRDMANN: David Pickering is dead. I need you two down there immediately.

BELLA: What happened?

BYRDMANN: The Jaguarr happened.

Byrdmann hears his phone from his office.

HUNTER: Wait, I don't get it. The Jag.....

BYRDMANN: Just get down there.

Byrdmann heads to his office. He enters inside and picks up his phone.

**********
DAY 2 - 8:12 AM

Norman and Audrey sit in the back of a speeding control van surrounded by monitors and communications equipment. Norman has his cell phone to his ear with Byrdmann on the other end.

NORMAN: Hank, we've got a problem. Calvin Spoons somehow slipped out of the safe house. Took one of the cars.

BYRDMANN: Do we know where he's heading?

NORMAN: We've got a GPS tracker on the car. We're following his path right now.

BYRDMANN: We've got a situation of our own. Audrey's father is dead.

Norman's eyes immediately meet Audrey's. Her face tightens as she gives him a look of concern.

AUDREY: What's wrong?

Norman looks back down with the phone still to his ear.

NORMAN: (to Byrdmann) What happened?

BYRDMANN: Hunter and Bella are heading there now, but we believe it's the work of our Jaguarr. Pickering was stabbed to death on a rooftop.

NORMAN: A rooftop? You don't think they were....

BYRDMANN: ...Meeting? It's a distinct possibility.

Norman looks up again at Audrey. Her face remains the same. His eyes slide back down.

NORMAN: Look, as soon as they're done over there I need them here. He's heading towards his house. So give them the address.

Norman closes his phone and puts it in his right back pocket.

AUDREY: What's going on? Did your partners catch the guy?

NORMAN: No, but they have some...developments that they're taking care of. Hopefully this will all be over quickly.

AUDREY: Where's Calvin?

NORMAN: We're following his track right now. He's heading towards your house.

**********
DAY 2 - 8:44 AM

Hunter and Bella arrive on the rooftop where investigators from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the United Hype Kingdom are already on the scene, taking photos and analyzing the area. One investigator, wearing a grey sports coat and pulling off a pair of white medical gloves, catches sight of the two M Hype-5 agents and immediately approaches them.

DETECTIVE: Morning.

HUNTER: Who found the body?

DETECTIVE: Couple of teenagers came up to the roof, probably for no good reason. Called the police as soon as they saw it. We're thinking he was killed just after midnight. And we found this next to the body.

The detective hands Bella a card. It's the Jaguarr's paw print card.

BELLA: It's him.

DETECTIVE: Would you like to let us in on what the hell is going on?

HUNTER: Unfortunately, we can't do that. This is our investigation. You guys were brought in for cleanup here. Nothing more. Nothing less.

DETECTIVE: And now look at what you people have - a media disaster. A fashion icon, gutted out. His daughter on the run from a killer. And it's all on your hands. I'm not sure why the defense department decided to hand an assignment in our jurisdiction to a bunch of bomb sniffing spooks, but hey. I'm not complaining.

HUNTER: You tell the press what we want them to know - David Pickering was meeting a friend on this side of town. Someone tried to rob him, failed, and stabbed him.

DETECTIVE: On top of the fact that his daughter was nearly killed in a car bomb two days earlier?

HUNTER: Things happen.

DETECTIVE: Brilliant copout.

HUNTER: Just do your job, and we'll try to do ours.

DETECTIVE: "Try" being the operative word, correct?

HUNTER: (sarcastically) Oh, absolutely.

The investigator smirks and walk off.

HUNTER: (under his breath) Asshat.

BELLA: So now what? I mean, I think this pretty much confirms the theory.

HUNTER: David Pickering hired Jason Gavin? But why turn on him?

BELLA: It's the M.O.

HUNTER: Wait, the M.O.?

BELLA: It's in the Gavin file. He's killed many of the people who he's hired.

HUNTER: But not all of them?

BELLA: Maybe it's a moral thing. David Pickering hired an assassin to kill his own daughter....

HUNTER: ....And Mr. Jaguarr guy decides to do it, but then kill the father in return? What kind of bizarro logic is that?

BELLA: The logic of a hitman?

Hunter shakes his head as he looks around the rooftops and buildings surrounding him, blanketed by the morning sun.

HUNTER: Alright, let's meet up with Norm. He might need us right about now.

**********
DAY 2 - 8:39 AM

Behind the wheel of a black M Hype-5 car, Calvin Spoons pulls up into the driveway of his $3.5 million dollar mansion just on the outskirts of famous Hype Hills. He exits the car and walks up towards the front door of his house. Digging through his right pocket he pulls out a set of keys and locates the key to the house. He opens the front door and walks inside, entering into the lavishly decorated home. As he makes his way inside the kitchen, he stops in front of the refrigerator, opens it, grabs a bottle of water, and closes the door. He takes a few sips from the water, then turns to walk out of the kitchen.

But before he can take another step, a blur swirls in front of him and he's stabbed in the stomach. A piercing and unrelenting pain succumbs him in a matter of nanoseconds. He looks down at the knife in his gut, the blood already soaking the lower end of his shirt. He looks up slowly, with his vision already blurry and beginning to fade. He stares into the cold, dead eyes of Jason Gavin. Spoons ever slowly reaches for the coat of The Jaguarr, but Gavin takes a step back and watches as Spoons collapses to floor, blood flowing from out of his gut.

Outside the house, the control van comes to a stop and parks on the curb. Norman exits the van with one of the surveillance officers, followed closely by Audrey Pickering. Norman sees her exit the van with them.

NORMAN: You should stay in the van.

AUDREY: I'm going to get my fiancée. I don't care.

Norman sighs and looks into her eyes, clearly seeing the determination.

NORMAN: Fine. But stay close to us.

The three approach the front door with Norman in front. He turns the doorknob and is surprised when he's able to open it. Audrey's eyes slide down as she catches sight of the surveillance officer pulling a .9MM pistol from his jacket. The three enter inside the house.

NORMAN: (calling out) Mr. Spoons. It's Ben Richards. We need you to come back with us where we can guarantee your safety.

No response. They make their way into the kitchen. Norman steps down, and hears a "SLOSH" under his feet. He looks down and finds himself standing in a puddle of blood. His head immediately turns into the direction of the puddle's source, and his eyes align with Spoons' body. Audrey turns to see the body, as well. Her eyes widen, her hand covers her mouth in horror. Tears begin to well in her eyes.

AUDREY: Calvin!

She kneels down into the blood and sits next to his body. She turns him over slowly and finds the gaping hole in his gut. The tears continue to flow.

Norman begins looking around the room. He immediately pulls his pistol out.

NORMAN: Audrey, we need to get out of here. Now.

Suddenly, the sound of a loud CRASH comes from the front of the house. Norman and the surveillance officer snap their heads in the direction of the noise, away from the kitchen, pointing their guns. Just as they do, the sound of Audrey screaming snaps their heads back in the opposite direction. They watch as The Jaguarr grabs Audrey and puts a knife to her throat. Norman immediately points his gun at The Jaguarr's head.

JAGUARR: Make a single move, and she's gone.

NORMAN: You hurt her, and your fate will be much worse.

JAGUARR: I think not, actually. I'd hate for her to die not knowing the truth.

NORMAN: What the hell is that suppose to mean?

JAGUARR: Have you told her yet?

NORMAN: What?

JAGUARR: Don't play games with me, friend. You know what I'm talking about.

The Jaguarr's voice is cold enough to chill the Sahara. His eyes stare straight through Norman's.

JAGUARR: Tell her who hired me.

A bead of sweat slowly falls down Norman's face.

JAGUARR: Tell her who wanted her dead. She'd enjoy it. Come on.

NORMAN: I'm warning you.

JAGUARR: My reflexes are faster than both of yours, you know that. So just tell her who hired me and I might not have to slit this poor woman's throat. I'd hate to have her bleed to death over her own fiancée's body. That'd be too poetic for even me to get a kick out of.

Norman's eyes quickly slide towards Audrey's, staring into her fear. He locks back onto The Jaguarr's, tightening the grip on his gun. But he doesn't say a word.....

JAGUARR: Don't blink.

BOOM!

The Jaguarr flies face first into the ground, blood and chunks of flesh spray from the back of his head. The knife falls to the ground with him. Norman and Audrey, eyes wide, turn to find Bella and Hunter standing with smoking pistols in hand. Out of exhaustion Audrey falls to her knees, weeping. Norman lowers his gun, and watches as Audrey continues to cry sitting in a now growing puddle of blood.

DAY 2 - 4:12PM

Inside the grid, a television inside the main meeting room is tuned into a national news station.

ANCHOR: A tragic day in the world of fashion and more specifically for fashion designer Audrey Pickering. David Pickering, the founder of ATP Fashion Inc. and father of Audrey Pickering, was killed. Police are saying Mr. Pickering was stabbed to death after a failed robbery attempt in the lower east side of Miscfilms City. Elsewhere, two days after an apparent car bomb detonated and killed an assistant, HNN is once again confirming a report from early in the day, that Calvin Spoons.....

With a remote control in hand, Hank Byrdmann switches off the screen. Norman, Bella, Hunter, and Tzarinna sit around the meeting room table alongside him.

BYRDMANN: I don't need to tell you that this matter isn't going to leave a good taste in the mouth of our superiors, but we did everything we could to.....

NORMAN: But it wasn't enough.

BYRDMANN: Pardon?

NORMAN: What the hell else is there to say, Hank? We failed. Point blank. Our job, which shouldn't have been ours in the first place, was to protect this couple. And we failed. There's no getting around it. This whole mission was nothing but a show, given to us to boost the public perception of the secret service, but all we've done is further stain that image. You know that. I know that. Everyone at this goddamn table knows that. And so now what? We do like we always do? We just move on to the next assignment, brush this one under the rug? Forget about it?

BYRDMANN: As always.

NORMAN: And that's not right.

BYRDMANN: It never is. But it's what we have to do if we want to progress and correct our mistakes in the future.

Norman sighs in disgust and walks out of the room.

DAY 2 - 7:31 PM

Back at the mansion, investigators are finishing up work around the house. Upstairs in the main bedroom Audrey stands in front of a mirror holding a picture of Calvin in her hand. Norman enters the bedroom. Audrey looks up to see him walk in. She shakes her head, her eyes red from the tears she has shed all day.

AUDREY: They just....they just told me what happened to my father.

Norman's face tightens.

AUDREY: A mugger.

A pause.

AUDREY: I just....today.....

She can barely muster a word.

NORMAN: I'm sorry. I know how this feels.

AUDREY: How can ANYONE know what this feels like?

NORMAN: You feel like the world doesn't even make sense anymore. Two days ago, everything was in its right place. As it should be. Now......now you're just trying to find something. Something to hold onto. Something to stand on. It's almost as if....you're floating in space. And all you're trying to do is find that rock....that foundation to land on.

Audrey looks up at him. He truly does know how she feels. But she shakes her head.

AUDREY: I can't stay in this house anymore. I don't even know if I can go back to work. This is....I.....I just don't know where to go from here.

NORMAN: I do.......stay with me.

Audrey doesn't know how to react.

NORMAN: I know how hard this is....to deal with something like this. But trust me, the last thing you need right now is to be alone with no one around you who understands how you feel.

Audrey's eyes look into Norman's deeply. She can feel sincerity in his words. But she doesn't know what to say.

END OF EPISODE

Great ending.:D:up: The scene with Audrey & Jag almost killin her kept me on the edge. I'm glad Norm & Audrey are staying together.

Whoa, that was heavy. I thought for sure Jag was going to get away and give Audrey the 411 on her Dad.
Norman wastes no time, get while the gettin is good. :cwink:
