While I enjoy enjoy the humor of the memes, I do think it kinda dismisses Max's character, even though he never looks down on Furiosa. I think that should be celebrated, not ignored.

I actually think this will grant Max a devoted Tumblr fangirl following. Do not underestimate the power of Tumblr fangirls. :o

Not for me, it was a fun tongue-in-cheek. It elevates Max in my eyes. Max/Furiosa were a team, equal partners, supportive of one another. And this is the first Hardy role that made me take notice of him.

219 million in the bank thru 5/26/15.
200 Million dollar estimated budget.

still need 150 million more to break even at least.

350 million is the goal here WW.

I'm going to see it again tomorrow for my third viewing. I imagine I'll be seeing it a few more times before it's out of theaters.

This isn't necessarily one of Tom Hardy's "best" performances, but it's one of the most enjoyable ones from him in a while, for me.

And it might be my favorite Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult characters.

Keep in mind WB would have gotten anywhere between $20-50m in tax breaks from the Australian government for Fury Road so that $200m budget is probably a bit deceptive.

I knew Charlize was good since The Devil's Advocate. She wasn't just another pretty face. But her Furiosa was just awesome. I don't want to see Monster because of the subject matter.

Nic Hoult's previous roles were just average to me, but he really stood out as Nux a completely different character.

I've never disliked Nicholas Hoult, but he really showed another side in Fury Road.

Must admit when I found out Theron's character's name is Furiosa it sounded dumb to me at first. Fury Road, Furi-osa, what the?

I really dislike Hoult. He was fine throughout most of this, but he's just one of those actors that pisses me off for no discernible reason.

Unlike the names Immortan Joe, Rictus Erectus, Master Blaster, Aunty Entity, and Lord Humungus? :o

Baring in mind that this is my first ever MM movie. Immortan I thought was just derived from Immortal, never heard Rictus' Erectus, and Vulvani is okay.

Like I said, at first I thought it sounded dumb, but after the movie I didn't. Furiosa became one badass name.

It is too bad that this is doing poorly at the box office.

I think it'll end up with about 300 million. Still not bad for a bizarre Rated R action movie released at the height of blockbuster season.

It is a comparable gross to Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow. It's ok from that vantage point, but it is too bad that movies not from famous franchises have such a hard time.

If man of steel or Avengers 2 had been this good, gross might have been 2 billion dollars.

Yeah it's R rated so it's more comparable to Django Unchained.

Let's hope Japan and China embraces it. Japan loves the bizarre and this movie is it. F7 and AoU grossed around $155m and $208m in China so hoping for at least $100m there.

But Fury Road is good BECAUSE it was allowed to be weird and out there, ie the anti-MOS and Avengers 2. :cwink:

I mean, most people predicted Fury Road completely bombing, so the fact that it's getting people out, even if it's not summer blockbuster numbers, is still really cool. :yay:

A film like Avengers or Superman could only be daring if some rich dude decided to denote a couple hundred millions to make his own damn movie. Or they could use a time machine and go back to the 80s.
