Maguire confirms symbiote is from outer space

Don't turn this thread into a mindless mechanics vs organic debate.

Thanks.

the symbiote comes from space in secret wars # 8.

well now we know. they now confirmed that in raimis world there are 100% aliens in space and one of them is on earth.

i wonder if in the next trailer that comes out in febuary will show a meteore coming to earth either that or john jamieson in the space shuttle, they might save that for the movie though.

The organics work better in my opinion, but back to the symbiote.:o

How?

For the sake of realism? If you want realism, go and watch the discovery channel. Not everything in fiction has to make sense or be realistic for that matter, hence the term, fiction.
spider-man is a genius, Lee introduced us to this but spider-man wasn't/isn't the F4 or a mutant, he was a very clever and resourceul kid, hence why he was able to create such a fantasic costume and web-shooters.
The web shooters is to spider-man what the cape is to superman, it's a must. Creating web shooters was another factor that differentiated spider-man from any other fictional character, its a 1 of a kind functional and practical gadget that Raimi, courtosy of James Cameron butchered. Further more, we have organics that insult the concept of mechs by having the movies make peter tap the middle of his palms to eject web-fluid:whatever: pure bs. The concept of organics takes away from peter a defining trait and characteristic just because Raimi and co couldn't be bothered to tell spider-man's story properly.
The concept of orgs is something I can get over and have but is inexcusable and given the opportunity such as now, I will say my piece on the matter. Opportunities for Raimi to stick to the source material is very rare so you guys should be lapping this whole symbiot from space thing up big time.

Holy Off-Topic Batman.

This thread is about Tobey confirming the symbiote is alien in origin, not why you hate organic webbing, stay to the topic at hand.

why can't the symbiote come from the meteor and john jameson? maybe jameson is doing research outside the shuttle studying some floating dead meteorites or something to that extent and the symbiote reacts to maybe some kind of vibration and attaches itself to john causing for an emergency landing where barely anyone survives. thus the first step of the symbiote taking on human characteristics from john (but maybe john dies, so it will need a new host), then finding the first human host near it: spider-man. later on in the movie peter eventually sheds it because it seems to magnify his emotions and abilities. it then takes with it: john/peter's human characteristics along with peter's special abilities and attatches itself to eddie. thus an angry creature with the human strength of john, peter, eddie combined and not to mention spider-man abilities...

That's too comics-ish I think. Besides, it doesn't ven sound realistic :down

I think the bigger question now is if the symbiote come from a meteor or the space shuttle. I have heard rumors of both.

Don't know if ti helps, but the "movie trailer" channels (I know atleast for Time Warner cable and for Comcast) have had a Spider-Man 3 synopsis up for a long time accompanying the teaser trailer... their synopsis has always said that Spider-man battles with the symbiote that comes from a meteor

I posted that a few months ago but some kid just replied with some sarcastic comment and some of these smiley faces --> :whatever: . He never mentioned if it was posted before or anything (may have been.. I don't post often), but if the teaser is still on (I know its old now) the synopsis is probably there too

Oh, good lord no. A comic book feel to a movie based on a comic book?? Sam, what are you thinking man?? :oldrazz:

Yeah, because that's why I go to see a comic book movie. Realism :whatever:

You're going to be mighty ticked off when you see a guy turned into living sand. Because that's more realisitic than something coming from space..........NOT!!!

Do you not understand the concept of an opinion? Many of us like the idea of organics and we don't have to explain why. It's a movie based on a comicbook character not a direct translation of the comic.

We don't obsess about it and write longwinded crap about why we love it or hate it like some.

LOL, Doc Ock, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Well, not actually, more like, finger strokes on the keyboard or something along those lines.

Either way, you win.

a meteor can crash into the shuttle approaching earth for re-entry, causing it to need an emergency landing someplace

"It happens all the time, man. They're falling out of the sky like flies. Government knows all about it, right? Chariots of the Gods, man. They practically own South America. I mean, they taught the Incas everything they know".

So when was the last time you saw a man who can crawl on walls?

well the outer space thing is pretty damn surreal but so was getting bit by a spider and getting ridiculas superpowers i mean come on what the hell did u expect this isnt a simulation movie, if it was then spiderman would of died within the first 20 minutes of #1, jumping off building and whatnot...

It should be Jameson bringing it back since he was in SM2... continue with the established characters... they went cheap if they just show a meteor crashing and a team of scientists picking it up...

thats possible, maybe the meteore crashes into the tail end of the shuttle, if the symbiote comes to earth by a meteore, maybe it lands in central park, or on the street, people would have to get out of their cars then, in the script summary it said that the symbiote sticks to the bottom of peters shoe, maybe the symbiote landed in central park and crawled on to the side walk.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!! :woot:

And this works with Raimi's old B-horror movie "Evil Dead" days. He could make the symbiote come off the meteorite like "Slither" or "The Blob" and attach itself to Peter.

thanks for a good laugh Doc Ock!:woot:

On the subject of the symbiot, had I been in Raimi's shoes (come on, you do not know the man directly or personally so be a little bit more respectful, no?) I had most probably used the Ultimate backstory. Raimi could have opened up a plethera of differant story ideas for sequels. Not only that, but a space alien thing coming from space does not really fit in with the more down-to-Earth image the first two films had going for them. But what do I care?? I am still going to enjoy the movie. :woot:
