Maguire confirms symbiote is from outer space

what if a meteor hits the shuttle during its return flight to earth...makes a hole in the side and they think they'll all be killed but the symbiote fills in the hole...hmm maybe not cuz the re-rentry would cause a lot of fire...and the symbiote doesn't like fire. though maybe that is what weakens it and allows peter to take off the suit at first until it regains its strength :)

Thus, it is safe to assume, Brock does not die. Or at least we do not know for sure he died. Like Doc Ock in SM2.

Not necessarily.

You claim there's been no significant divergence from the comics?? There's been loads of it so far in these movies.

Raimi gives all the villains closure by the end of the movie. Ock and Goblin died for their sins. We've heard in the Q&A that Sandman comes full circle and ends up surrendering and being arrested for the sake of his family. Harry comes thru for Peter by sacrificing himself to save Peter.

Venom, if he's a villainous as they're making him out to be, is going to bite the dust.

Count on it.

And to Doc Ock, my apologies, I could have sworn it was you who tirades in the SM2 forum about how movie Doc Ock was crap compared to comic Doc Ock.

That might have been me. But I never said movie Ock was crap. I love Molina's Ock. But the comic book version is far superior.

The comic book version of every character is superior to the movie versions.

I really think me and you have seen different versions of the Q&A, or at are least remembering it differently.

We are all assuming Harry sacrifices himself in the Battle Royale to help defeat Venom.

But feasibly and logistically, how will Harry die, taking Brock but not the symbiote? Isn't (aren't?) two deaths in the same scene just a bit too grim for this movie?

Well, what did you read??

Easy. You simply impale him or blow him up or whatever. Harry does have that sword thing as part of his arsenal.

I can see him using that.

Isn't (aren't?) two deaths in the same scene just a bit too grim for this movie?

If they can have a whole room of surgeons butchered evil dead style in SM-2, then I'm going to say no.

Besides, this movie seems to have a whole dark tone to it. Much darker than the previous two.

but it is possible, think about it.....harry gets impaled by venom then peter goes rampaging on venom and then something happens to the symbiot, maybe because of fire or something, then maybe brock falls off a beam.

ok, so now we know that the symbiote is in fact alien...which is what i wanted and hoped for.

now how will it get to earth?

-john jameson brings it back on the space shuttle?

-astroid?

i hope is the space shuttle crash and all...i'm not big on the astroid hitting n.y

i think the symbiote will come to earth by an astroid. maybe it will land in central park:spidey:.

Maybe, but I was never convinced that all those doctors and nurses were killed. Some of them probably survived.

Then again, this is coming from someone who genuinely doesn't believe that the impaling of GG in the first film would have been as quickly fatal as it was portrayed.

i hope not...john jameson is in the movie, what use could he possibly serve other than to bring the symbiote to earth.

How?

For the sake of realism? If you want realism, go and watch the discovery channel. Not everything in fiction has to make sense or be realistic for that matter, hence the term, fiction.
spider-man is a genius, Lee introduced us to this but spider-man wasn't/isn't the F4 or a mutant, he was a very clever and resourceul kid, hence why he was able to create such a fantasic costume and web-shooters.
The web shooters is to spider-man what the cape is to superman, it's a must. Creating web shooters was another factor that differentiated spider-man from any other fictional character, its a 1 of a kind functional and practical gadget that Raimi, courtosy of James Cameron butchered.

Actually, hate to break it to you, but webshooters are NOT the equal to Supe's cape. Back when this "war" first started with the first Spidey movie, I asked friends and family who are normal people to list 5 things they would consider important to list in a spider-man movie. This is the majority of the responses (of approx 60 NORMAL people polled)

1) having webbing (no one specified webshooters. no one cared WHERE the webs come from, just that he have the ability)
2) faithful costume
3) crawling on walls
4) Doc Ock
5) bad jokes

Remember when the first pic of Supes Returns came out, and the dark red "leather" cape was seen, and everyone grumbled? Or the bike-leathers worn by the X-Men instead of form-fitting nylon? Just stupid pointless whinefests by fat 40 year olds living in their parents' basement.

They wanted the movie to have bad jokes.

I'm not going to split hairs with you over that. I think it was obvious that they were murdered. Killed or not, they were given VERY violent bashings in that scene. Nails scraping on the floor, smashed into walls, gripped by the face and flung across the room etc.

It was the most violent and dark scene shown so far in the Spidey movies IMO. Followed closely by the final fight between Spidey and Goblin in SM-1.

So, having Venom and Harry die in the same scene would be nothing.

"It's you who's out Gobby. Out of your mind"
"Hey kiddo, let mom and dad talk for a minute will ya??"
"Here's your change"

Those kind of bad jokes/puns from Spidey I think he means.
