some other things I don't get

The three pixies are supposed to be the same age in the script, yet they cast two middle aged actress to play Flittle and Knotgrass and a young actress to play Thistlewit.

I really don't like how the three pixies become nasty bullies to Maleficent, they are also irresponsible towards looking after Aurora, they don't care about looking and taking care of Aurora or protecting her safely.

There is a time span of 100 years. Queen Ulla curse Maleficent with the horns for 100 years. After 100 years, Queen Ulla dies of old age.

But the sheperd and his wife and young son still remains the same age after 100 years??

Human King Henry is still alive after 100 years?

Maleficent's birth orgin is never fully explained. Her mother is a fairy. But who is her father?

We don't know who her father is, except he appears briefly in several scenes, giving her orders and instructions. Another wasted, undeveloped character in the script.

Them not caring about Aura isn't a fault with the script, it's that you want it to be Sleeping Beauty. The same could be said that the good witch in WICKED became an air head. If I remember, in the script Thistlewit was the most naive? Casting probably picked a younger actress because of that. Why they're nasty? Well, they are against any and all outsiders.

Good catch, I didn't notice that hundred years thing. But, again, a lot of films have this and these moments are often caught during some stage of production. Some of these, however, remain intact and become plot holes.

I kind of got the feeling that her father was banished or went his own separate way because he was evil. He basically plays the part of the devil. It would have interesting to see more of him though. I kind of viewed him as being played by Rutger Hauer for some reason. Maybe they were going for him being mysterious, thus more ominous - he almost has a "devil at the crossroads" type essence about him.

So someone over at Maleficent imdb board has provided a link to the script.

I was curious and go ahead to read the script.

And I really dislike the script after reading it.

Maleficent is supposed to be evil, the mistress of all evil. You don't mess with a classic beloved Disney Villainess and turn her into a nice, warm caring motherly figure.

This isn't the Sleeping Beauty tale that I grew up to love.

It's like making a "Lucifer" movie and instead of potraying the devil he was....you give him a backstory and turn him into a good guy.

This is how I felt after reading the "Maleficent" script. One of the worst horrible written script that I have ever read.

guess you never heard of paradise lost, huh?

OH GAWD, YOU GUYS!!! THEY'RE TRYING TO FLESH OUT A STORY AND FRESHEN IT UP INSTEAD OF JUST RETELLING IT BEAT FOR BEAT?! WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?! :o

Madness, I tell you. Next I suppose you're going to tell me they're going to be shooting new footage instead of remastering the footage from the disney cartoon. you guys so cray cray.

I don't know...the dialogue was not really good, rather weak , hopefully they can polish it up better

especially the part, I lost count of the numerous times Maleficent says the words "Be a man" "Now a bird" They need to cut down on it.

Oh yeah, even the raven is as good as Maleficent.

The epiloge is ....I don't get it ...about good guys conquering evil by absolutely doing nothing.

Anyway, this is why I don't like reading scripts before seeing the actual movie. Many times, the scripts that I read turn out to be, in my opinion, terrible and it ruins my anticipation and expectation of the movie.

I'm still very mixed on this, sitting on the fence about this.

I don't know about Wicked. I have never seen it. But I guess part of it's success is due to the songs?....especially "Defying Gravity" which is used in GLEE.

Wicked reduced to something used on Glee (was a book and then a Broadway show) and no knowledge of Paradise Lost? What is this world coming to...

i dont think some have a problem that she starts out good and then becomes bad. noone in hollywood would be that stupid to have a main character bad from the beginning to the end.

some are afraid that we will get the same beat for beat how a good hollywood character beomces bad. the cliche way.

The weak dialog that I mentioned is not "be a man" "be a bird" that aspect of it is rather very Disney and fairytale-esque not something that seems like it would be bad on screen.

The raven being good also isn't a problem - it's you wanting the Raven to be bad.

Doing nothing at all? Malificient changed her ways and raised Aura, who in turn sees her as her true 'mother' in an adoptee sense and chooses to save her life. I'm really unsure how that can be seen as 'doing nothing.' More the whole theme of the film is "not everything is as it appears."

Then your problem seems to be more with scripts themselves, especially - as said - the more technical ones which don't focus on the reader first rather just the technical aspects of it.

We getting a teaser or something any time soon? :o

The weird thing is that I've almost forgotten all about this project. Seriously.

Apparently they showed footage at D23.

I haven't been keeping up with this film... thought it was called "Maleficent"? Is it really called "Sleeping Beauty?"

No one's gotten around to changing the 2010 thread title.

Yeah, that's fanmade. I saw it when it was first posted on Tumblr and the one who posted it tagged it as fanmade.

Yeah, since Disney is doing next to nothing to put the word out. You'd think there would be at least a teaser poster by now.

Disney is just sitting back while Star Wars and Marvel prints money for them.
