Man of Steel vs. Pirates- who wins box office?

POTC2 is only 11( or so) days.

It is so bad, that I cant see SR before July 27th

You know, I forgot to take into the account the fanbases that Bloom, Depp, and Knightley carry. That's a big factor.

Well, I am sure SR will make more than $300m domesticly, but I still have some doubts about it as a winner.

POTC2 can be winner in box office as I think. It will make about $340-350m domesticly and $470-480m in overseas.

But if SR makes $200m at the end of 2nd week, than it has good WOM and even better legs, what means it can beat POTC2 domesticly.

There 2 situations:

A) POTC2 wins domesticly, foreign and in worldwide. But SR also makes more than $300m domesticly and $700m in worldwide.

B) SR wins domesticly with $325-345m, but makes less than POTC2 in overseas. POTC2 will make a bit more than SR.

All these numbers hurt my eyes.......

Superman Returns isn't going to be the next Independence Day. It's a very long and slow film that's light on action, and most people probably aren't going to watch it multiple times in theaters. Many suspect this is what kept King Kong from being as big a success as it could have been at the BO.

Spider-Man teaser is attached to SR.And many Spidey fans will go to see it.

Why would they pay money to see a movie just for a teaser when they could wait a few days to download it? It may happen, but it will be an insignificant %. SR isn't going to get the same numbers as Spider-Man 1 or 2 on top of their own just because of a teaser.

sure, superman returns is 2 and a half hours long and supposedly light on action (depending on what your definition of light is), but so were (more or less) batman begins, spider-man 1 and 2, superman the movie, the first pirates of the carribean, and many, many more movies... and they all performed admirrably at the box office to say the least. i get the impression that you want returns to fail at the box office, but at least come up with valid examples why you think it's going to.

I'm going to give this to Pirates, just because of my never-ending love of Johnny Depp (Jack Sparrow).

Pirates is just the kind of movie I can watch over and over and over again and not get sick of it.

It's 2 hrs. and 34 minutes long according to Yahoo. And that includes the credits.

Yep. The first cut of SR was like 3 hours long, but Singer's supposedly cut a ton of stuff since then.

That's what i've said plenty of times. people love depp. and bloom and knightley also have a big fan base. bloom especally with teen girls.
