Iron Man Mark II=War Machine?

That wouldn't make sense. War Machine looks more advanced than the Mark III.
So, it wouldn't come before.

Anyone else thinking this?

I don't think you quite get how the Mark system works. It catalogues big upgrades to the Iron Man armor, not specialized suits. The War Machine Armor, while often worn by Jim Rhodes, is technically just a heavy combat version of the Iron Man armor. I would genuinely be bothered if the War Machine armor is an hand-me-down from Stark.

Maybe it's a version of the gold armor he wore during the first issue of the Avengers.

maybe they're thinking of the flame thrower on the crude armor in the movie

War Machine wouldn't be the Mark 2, if we see the Mark 2 it will be a Gold version of the Mark 1, War Machine most likely will be the third Armor Jon mentioned some time ago.

I could actually see the Mark II being War Machine. Basically the armor of the Mark III but before Stark perfected the Repulsor Technology and other internal weapon systems, thusly the armor is covered with lots of current day armaments (chain gun, flame throwers, smaller missile launchers).

I think it might be a mix of the second armor he wore in the comics (the gold he was wearing in Avengers 1) and the first read and gold he ever wore. That would show transition between the mark 1 and mark 3 armors. I see it being a slightly less bulky version of mark 1 with less weld marks and plates, but then be goldish with some red thrown in.

My thinking is that the Mk II armor would be this:-

-I'd certainly get a kick if we saw a glimpse of that at some point in the movie.

:ninja:

didn't Jon say something about two grey suits being in the movie in a recent interview?

Nevermind I reread the article and it doesn't say that
that's the problem with dislexia

I'm guessing that the Mark II will be a failed suit design that doesn't quite work. He'll probably go into battle with it and it will be destroyed resulting in his near death... then he'll build the Mark III and the ass-kicking will commence.

I think the Mark II armor is...Iron Monger.

Let me explain...

I'm betting that Stane is somehow involved with the Mandarin. He's probably illegally selling Stark arms to terrorists, especially the Mandarin. Mandarin wants Stark to create something for him that is beyond any weapon he's previously made, therefore he (or his minions) captures Stark. When Stark is captured, Stane probably takes control of Stark Enterprises (like Rutger Haeur in Batman Begins). Stark comes back and makes moves to reclaim his company from Stane. Stane probably steals the Mark II armor and turns it into Iron Monger (this is why we skipped from pics of Mark I to III). Stane has to defeat Stane/Iron Monger to reclaim his company and severe its ties with terrorists. The Mandarin will still be looming out there for IM to fight in the future.

Think about it. Why wouldn't they show us the Mark II before the Mark III? They don't want to spoil the villain just yet.

I agree with SUPERBENITEZ. Mk II is the classic Iron Man modular suit. The armor tech is compressed than what it is in the comic. Mk I is the Grey suit, a makeshift armor just to get away from the prison. It'd be dumb to see the clunky Gold suit because this version of Iron Man don't have Vietnam Wars era to begin with. Mk III is Adi Granov's Modern Iron Man. Logically Mk II is the most prolific Iron Man's armor of all, the modular suit.

This vibes with the set reports of Iron Monger vs Iron Man being the finale of the movie and the Iron Monger armour is gonna be CGI hence no pic yet and a jump to Mark III

The Modular armor was the armor from the Capcom games and the 90s animated series. It's not the 70s hipdisk armor that is the most recognized and possibly the armor you're thinking of, Chiefchirpa.

The comment about the Vietnam era makes no sense. Stark created the grey suit to escape prison. He modified it when he got back and gave it more weapons and changed the color based on a date's opinion that the grey suit was too scary.

I understand that the Iron Monger will probably be CGI in most scenes, since they can't actually make a suit that big have an actor in it and still moveable. However, I'm still betting the Iron Monger is at least based on the Mark II. From what has been heard, the Mark I suit is rather large and bulky. Stark probably keeps most of the design elements and updates them. The Mark II is probably still bulky. The Mark III is sleaker.

It wouldn't make sense for Stark to go from really bulky armor to streamlined armor (hipdisk) to the bulkier (at least more armored) Mark III. It doesn't seem like a logical transition. As much as I love the hipdisk armor, it won't hold up on film and will look extremely low-tech and out of place in this movie (which is trying to make things more reality-based).

Because the Mark III armor is more marketable.

If they released the Mark II armor before the Mark III armor, a lot of people might start worrying that it's his final armor. It even happened with the Mark I armor. A couple people who didn't know better assumed it was the armor he'd use for the whole movie.

The Mark III suit is the real Iron Man suit. It's what he'll be wearing through most of the movie, so it's what everyone was waiting to see. Mark II isnt' nearly as big of a deal.

Good God, Mateo. That's ****in' awesome!

I'm hoping that this will be the Mark II armor

I can't stand the look of the Ultimate armor, but it'd be a nice nod to the books if they included it as the Mark II. The War Machine armor should be its own entity.
