everytiem someone sees a pic from the set and says that tehy wont use a lot of CGI.......they use it.Jesus. Mateo, awesome man. I brightened the second batch up, hope it's cool.
There's your confirmation to the IESB Iron Monger rumor. Robot boots, indeed.
edit: The car looks to be on wires... Is the Monger going to be throwing it at our hero? They're doing that practically and not in a computer??? Incredible!
THAT'S HOW this movie will rock us all, this is no damn CG cartoon!
Thanks again, Mateo!

t:Jamal, Iron Monger isn't a robot it's just a larger suit of armor since it's less advanced than Iron Man's Mark III armor(less miniaturization so it requires more space). And Jon has always said he likes marrying practical effects to CGI as opposed to 100% CGI which is why the bits of the Monger armor. Did the same thing in Zathura with the killer robot. Torso was real but the legs were computer generated. I love it!
How much do you love me?

O.K., so I guess I should give you guys a little backstory...
They have been shooting outside our building for the past week. All of us have been watching the action from our offices. I usually visit the Kevin Smith boards, and they have a dedicated Iron Man thread. So I've been snapping pictures and posting them over there. But then I thought, why not post them where the fans could see them.
I knew about SHH from back when X-Man was being developed. I always checked in from time to time, but I never posted. Not being a big comic book guy, I do have respect for the art and the fans, especially since I have several co-workers who are fan-boys.
So I decided to join when I actually had something worthwhile to post.
First night of shooting, they blew out the side of the wall of the freeway. They also have a truck with the side blown out.

Next night, they have Iron Man sprawled out across the Freeway.

They spent a lot of time getting reaction from IM, having cars whiz by his head, and having him stand up. They must have 50 cars on set, and when they yell action, they all speed away from the area. They yell cut, and al the cars reverse back into position. Pretty cool stuff.
They also try to get some shots of IM catching the car on wires. I didn't bring my camera that night, but they seemed to be just blocking it out. Trying to make it believable that a Man in an iron suit can actually catch a car and not be thrown back due to inertia.
They have been shooting primarily at night, so I was really surprised when they wheeled out this huge robot Saterday afternoon. I quickly grabbed my camera, and snapped away.
Later that night, they had Iron Man facing off against Iron Monger, the shots I posted earlier. The shot of him "ducking" was actually first, I assume a continuation of him getting his senses after being knocked through a wall and truck. Then he starts toward the robot.
I left to watch the Mayweather/De La Hoya fight, and when I came back, the robot was gone, and only the car remained wired up. They spent several hours trying to get a shot of Iron Man catching the car and setting it down. I also thought I saw some acting like he was wrestling with an imaginary Monger, since the practical robot wasn't there. I may have some video, but I'm still working on getting it to download.
All in all, it's pretty cool what we have seen so far. I'll keep trying to post some stuff as I get it. I literally know nothing about the character of Iron Man than a) he looks like a Hulkamania version of RoboCop and b) he was involved with the story arc of the Civil War series. (Again, I only have a brief understanding of that, talking to my boys here at work.) But now that I've been watching the filming, I'm excited to see what they add to what they've shot.
