Superman Returns Mark Millar's thoughts on the movie . . .

Milkman95 said:
I probably wouldn't have commented on it at all if he gushed about the trailer. In my opinion, WB and Singer did the right thing with the "Return" story because of SV and the connection people still have with the Donner film. As I've said before, what I think Singer might mess up on is the kid of course and Kittly Koslowski.

I Feel the same about the Retun approach in concept but their is no difference in Millar's comments than there is in the one praising what they have seen

I agree, I was specifically talking about his dis-respect of Mr. Singer as well as his ridiculous comments on what would make a good Superman film. It was laughable.

The only comment i thought was off was the one i quoted,i don't see where he dissed Singer he just feels he's unadventurous

I commented on this clown in the SV thread - basically, he wants more action, less story, and Superman doing more "cool stuff". Great, I'm first in line for McG's Superman.........what a joke. This guy just needs to shut his bi-polar mouth...
People are allowed to like the movie.
People are allowed to dislike the movie.
People are allowed to express their opinion of the movie.

Well, as a writer himself, he really shouldn't be openly dissing someone else's work, especially before reading or seeing the finished product.

The "cool stuff" comment only made him look worse, which was hilarious.

Thanks, I didn't know that. My comments were more based towards what his thoughts on what would make a good Superman movie, NOT his thoughts on SR.

So as a fellow writer he should just praise other writers and lie ? he commented truthfully on what he has seen

Okay, I'm done, you simply don't know where I'm coming from, oh well.......

You're right....You apparently DIDN'T know that....and you STILL don't.

Everyone is allowed to have their opinion on what would make a good Superman movie.
Everyone is allowed to express that opinion....as long as they do it civily.

I do,you thought his comment about Superman doing cool stuff was laughable i got that, the other part your basically saying it's ok for other witers to praise singer without seeing the movie but that Millar can't be negative b/c he hasn't seen the movie, the same double standard as pervades on here,i don't remember you minding judging F4 or Tim Story ahead of time

"...but a Superman movie that starts with Krypton, goes to Smallville, has Clark going to the big city, has Superman saving Lois from a crashing plane, has Superman doing a series of rescues, has Luthor stealing Kryptonite, poisoning Superman and then setting off a huge earthquake seems kind of familiar and oddly pointless. It seems like Superman The Movie PLUS A KID."

lol Agree completely.

Intriguing stuff especially coming from someone who's been a huge supportor of Singer and his film.Even though i have lots of confidence in Singer and the final product i do think he's making some good points.

I'm sure the movie will be good, and it'll be a f***ing MIRACLE after what WB was planning to do before Singer came along, but at the same time, it'll just seem as if it could have been so much more...

I suggest you read All Star Superman (ongoing), by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, to see what a fun, crazy and GREAT Superman movie could be like... :o

Well, my point was he shouldn't have made negative comments about someone else's work in the same profession publicly, that's all.

Have you seen or heard another writer or director bad mouthing someone else? For example, out of respect and professionalism, you didn't see Ratner speaking negatively about Bryan Singer, did you?

Well, that was my point - I thought he did it in a dis-respectful manner, especially being in the position that he's in as well as what he does for a living...........

He gave his view on the trailer,he never attacked Singer, ive seen plenty praising it so i don't see what is so wrong with Millar voicing concerns, look at Alan Moore he always voices negatives on adaptions

Okay, I'm done here. We'll agree to disagree. I thought he could of expressed his concerns a little better.........Alan Moore is expressing his opinions of people adapting his own work, so that's a little different I think.

I don't go way back with anybody, except myself.

Comic writer or not...it's a guy talking about a movie he hasn't seen yet. Not one person here is going to miss this movie based on what he has said, so who cares?
