The kid wouldnt be there if it wasnt for a specific purpose in the plot. It just seems to me that a lot of the people think that Singer just stuck the kid in there to piss people off. Like its been stated in the other threads. We just automatically think the kid is lois's and supes. The kid may not even be hers. There do happen to be single fathers out there that have custody of there children. For example: Richard marries a beautiful woman by the name of whatever. HIm and whatever have a beautiful child sad thing is the chick dies in child birth. Fast forward three years. Little Jason is now three. RIchard meets a snotty smart ass chick named Lois Lane. Lois has no in her life why cause supes has been gone for 3 or so years. Shes over him (sorta) and really likes Richard and Jason. Bata binb bata boom, after they date for 2 years ole Richy asks Lois to marry him and she says yes. Then now get this, its gonna throw you for a loop. Superman actually returns.

I pretty much agree with what Millar is saying, especially this:

Also, it seems like Superman 5. It seems like the CAPSTONE to a franchise as opposed to a new foundation a quarter of a century after the first movie. Heroes get the girl and have a kid at the END of their adventures. Doing this right at the beginning just feels off and is problematic for sequels. Imagine 'BOND IS BACK... AND THIS TIME HE'S BROUGHT HIS WIFE AND KID' and you'll see what I mean. Incredibles is one of my top 5 movies ever, but the gag there is that it's a family of superheroes. That's not what makes Superman cool. It's a great ending to the franchise, but an unfortunate beginning.

I've said it before, Returns seems like the perfect LAST movie for the Reeve franchise, not a FIRST movie in a new one, or indeed some awkward bridging between two.

Im not doing anything to you, just pointing out in a rational way that that plot point you brought up could be answered alot easier if you actually seen the film, as opposed to just simply guessing if it's there or not and basing your opinion off a guess.

dont be so thinned skinned and cry victim every time someone points out that your basing everything off conjecture and not anything thats concrete as being there in the final edit.

Thats the first name I've never called on this board until then and Nivek deserved it. Second, I wasn't aware the word was a bad word. Its not like I dropped the c-bomb or f-bomb, but alas, there are kids here.

As for your point, budget draft is still the basic plot and what not...if Jason is Superman's, I really doubt that major plot point is going to change between budget draft and regular draft.
