Marvel Battle
Electro, Juggernaut and Colossus are joining the lineup of the Marvel Battle Dice game from Playmates Toys, Costa Mesa, Calif. The collectible game features more than 65 comic book heroes and villains as mini figures. Players can create armies of Marvel characters from Spider-Man, the X-Men, Daredevil and the Fantastic Four, and each roll of the die determines their next move. Playmates is currently offering three different sets of Battle Dice based on level of play, including the Battle Dice Starter Pack (SRP $9.99), which includes six dice and six figures, playmates, reference card and carrying case as well as a miniature comic book. Four Booster Packs ($5.99-6.99) will be launched by Playmates throughout the year. The first series will have 60 randomly chosen figures. A Dice Launcher ($9.99), a 5-inch diorama that can throw one battle die at a time, is also available. www.marvelbattledice.com
Something to think about
ThinkFun, Alexandria, Va., brings the Marvel characters to game life in four traditional ThinkFun games (SRP $18.00) this season. In Zingo! Heroes, recommended for ages 4 to 8 years old, kids can match any one of the two mystery tiles that appear on the Zingo! Zinger game piece to their game board. Players must call them out first and place on their mini game board. The first player to fill their board with the collected tiles wins. In City Crossing, players hop from skyscraper to other buildings as Spider-Man until they make it to the end of the game board. Each game includes 40 challenge cards and a magnetic Spider-Man game piece. Hopper Heroes features a Captain America game piece that must make it through different obstacles depicted on the challenge cards. Spider-Man TipOver is a 3D game of strategy based on the original TipOver game. City Crossing, Hopper Heroes and Spider-Man TipOver are recommended for ages 8 and up. www.thinkfun.com
